Fallout 4 Review by DirtyOldShoe

Could you possibly provide examples for what you would like examples for? I thought every request to provide examples in a review must have a least a couple of example examples.

No need to be a prick because I ask you to be specific. I'm don't disagree with the review, I just want to know what npcs or quests you hate, as you don't name any.

Not being a prick. The review is taking a broad approach and blanketing things into categories. When I mention the story of the main quest, I am addressing the entirety of it, same goes for NPCs. If you are curious how I feel about something specific, you should also be specific to what you are asking.

So being sarcastic and condescending doesn't equal being a prick?

Anyway, I get that your being broad, but when you mention "1-2" side quests you enjoyed, could you please specify?

I took offence in that.

Sorry if I misinterpreted it, but I thought that was a bit sarcastic.

Asking for specific examples in a shitty game leads to further analysis and you suddenly realise that the 'good' examples aren't so good after all in comparison, leading to the entirety of the game being shitty.

But I want it to be as honest as possible and I shouldn't lie to make fan boys happy. Fan boys can go to hell. Izak made a good point and I didn't thoroughly consider all the weapons in my review. Besides, the change still leaves bethesda with a failing score. What I would like to see is some of the people like you, @MercenarySnake, @Ragemage, @Mr Fish, @Izak, @RangerBoo and @Crni Vuk all give a full review I would be curious to a sort of NMA full analysis.

No. I made one change but I am happy with the other parts. Any points they got in World design were forfeit by all the flaws and poor design choices.

New as I am, I think I'll give this a shot myself. Should be a nice break from what I'm doing currently.

That's probably not his fault. It's quite likely some suit decided the game was "too depressing" and demanded they make the tone more "upbeat" and "heroic."

According to some people here of which I shall not name, he and all of the voice actors are also to blame for Fallout 4. I don't get this line of thought. Are we supposed to be angry at the people involved with Fallout 4 too because they were doing their job? At this point, where does the blame stop? Might as well insult the entire development team and every crew involved in Fallout 4's creation because they didn't refuse to continue working on Bethesda's game.

For all we know they might not even have an idea what the deal between Obsidian and Bethesda and with Fallout as a whole is. So... what? Is it their fault they didn't do full studies research on the entire history of the series? Not every person involved in the creation of the game has to even like the series. The people leading the project and the lead writers definitely should, yeah, but there's no expecting every voice actor to be a fan of Fallout or even knowledgeable about it. I doubt every voice actor working on Fallout 2 was a fan of Fallout 2 itself.

If you know you haven't done this, just ignore this, but I'm just putting this out there to the ones that kept going on about how everyone involved in Fallout 4's development were all equally responsible for its release. Seriously, what were they supposed to do? Protest? Refuse to work on it and move on to something else for the sake of one series they may or may not care about?

I'm fine with criticism of the poor delivery of voice acting by a VA, but they shouldn't get the same amount of flak as the ones actually responsible should be getting. There is nothing to gain from blaming the ones who didn't make the decisions.

Nice review, Dirty Old Shoe!

Generally, my take on Fallout 4 is that it's the best game I've enjoyed on a Next Generation Console but it's an inferior step backward for every step forward so its a very uneven game. I gave it a 10 out of 10 because it's still more enjoyable than just about everything else I've played this year but grading on the curve is something which offends some gamers.

Amusingly, one of my biggest complaints is the crafting focus in the game.

I'm surprised you gave weapons/armour design a one, I thought the layered armour system inevitably made my character look ugly and, some weapons were just utterly disgusting.

Dear god, the Assault Rifle...The Flamer is at least more colorful than before, but the modifications it had were fucking idiotic overall (The more powerful it is, the lesser the range? Compression nozzle apparently can't make the jet of napalm shoot out even farther? Smart move, Bethesderp), and yes, the layered armor made most of the gear look terrible. Funny enough, the one I liked the most was Heavy Metal Armor Chest Piece, the legs, and Medium Metal Armor arms, only because it seemed not too fucking crazy or hysterical like Leather Armor or Heavy Combat Armor (though the rolled up shit on the back of the Heavy Metal Chest Piece is stupid, and the Heavy Metal Arms make you look like a wannabe Super Saiyan. Just no).

And Synth armor, besides the full helmet, looked like you took a toilet apart and slapped it on.
