Fallout fans are the worst?

Apparently we, the Fallout community, are looked upon as rabid dogs or a community you wouldn't like to be in. In an article at Gamespy about Beta's do's and don't s (WOW Beta) by Allen Rausch we got this label:
More seriously, if you've agreed to roll for prizes during a quest, cut out the damn ninja looting! One of the best aspects of playing in the beta has been the nice community that's grown up around the game. It'd be great if once the world of Azeroth opens to everybody, it'd have a slightly better public demeanor than say, the Raider Nation, British soccer fans, or the Fallout community.
Awww the lub, the lub..

Thanks Ghengis John for informing us.

Allen Rausch? This isn't the first time he talked shit about the Fallout community. I still recall his article on fan input in sequel development, where he pointed us out as an example of a bitter, hostile, arrogant and generally terrible community. I reacted that time, but my input wasn't well received. There's no way in hell I'm writing anything else to that dipshit.

On the other hand, Rausch seems to be in love with Fallout (back when Gamespy had a game contest, he wholeheartedly supported Fallout 2 over Baldur's Gate 2, which I interpret as a sign of above-average intellect) and his reviews and previews of PC games are probably the only written material on Gamespy that doesn't give me nausea and urge to kill something.

Ahhh hahaha...yeah, we're all a little bunch of fuck heads. But seriously, I think this guy could be the grand wizard of the F.F.F. (Fuck Fallout Fans) trying to steer people away from a game that defined roleplaying in a fresh and unique way that nobody could replicate. He likes his fairies, spells, and other crap, so let him have it. Too bad he had to , in the words of Roshambo "verbally masturbate", in a review for a game that might be half decent...besides the fact that MMORPGs are getting kind of redundant.

What does the Fallout community have anything to do with World of Warcraft? He talks about "ninja looting" which is commonplace for fourteen year old babies that talk in 1337 and cry when their mommies wont bring them another 2 liter of Mountain Douche to chug on. Whereas kids like that get their asses handed to them here, and are kicked out on their faces to face the truth of the world. Maybe this guy has an affination to these 14 year old dribbel heads and got kicked out of our forums at one point or another. Regardless, this guy can piss and moan all he wants, his mommy still wont kiss his ass for him anymore.

How many of us would have been content with new adventures? I'm willing to bet that most of us would have. They could have made three or four sequels past Fallout 2 and although a few people might have grumbled about graphics, I'm sure most would have been happy if proper attention was paid to the story, character development, dialogue, etc... All we have really asked is to be listened to.

I concur. The senseless dribbel heads that fail to grasp that end up growing a monster erection when they bring up a senseless point that fails to relate to anything in anyway whatsoever. Moreso in the context given as this Allen Rausch schmuck just did.

The trouble with a lot of companies now days, is that they tell you what you want. I get a bit pevved when someone tries to make up my mind for me, but then again I suspose a lot of people like not having to think for themselves.

Could be worse, someone could have made Fallout 3 in the final fantasy engine (damn all those games are the same!)

That guy again, eh? Either he hopes that by mentioning us he'll generate some controversy and traffic, or he's a sad little man that hasn't grown out of the adolescent "hold a grudge forever" phase. What a goof.

nah its just that no company has ever comepletly fucked up a series of a awesome original game before like interplay...

Damn me if I wouldn't, right now, pay fifty bucks for a new fallout adventure with the Fallout 2 engine... in a heartbeat. Hell, I might even buy one for a poor friend.

I think my blood pressure is rising.

Oh DcBoard, ah the memories :D

It looks like Allen has been verbally spanked by an known Fallout fan (and still hold a grudge), I wonder if he would still say these things if we took the hosting offer from Gamespy or if DAC was still there...

Odin, if you took a hosting offer from GaySpy, you'd be almost as low as Chucky.

Hence the reason we didn't take it, we're not sellouts.

I am sure anyone of us would love a well made sequel in the same engine. The sad fact is, that it wouldn't do well enough financially because most people are gullible morons. Most of my friends like Fallout, but none of the idiots I know played it for more than five minutes, and that was when it wasn't so old.

People don't like to be criticized or challenged quite obviously, and this community has done this often. Many do not want to have to think and will even die for their right to stupidity.

But Fallout is still part of a niche genre, and I might be unjustified in judging people on their opinion on this game (even though I always find out soon that my prejudice was correct).

I doubt he's even been to NMA. More than likely he's seen some of Fergus's comments, and being the Gamewhore cocksucker he is, is trying to carry on the "in joke."
