Correct, I became part of the IT staff when "interplay.com" was merged into the Interplay Entertainment entity.
However, during the last month, the director of IT managed to share my responsibilities with game design duties, making me part the design staff. Black isle was gone by that time, and there was no real game design work (or any work of any type) But, I had hopes and enjoyed being considered part of the design staff (too bad there was nobody left).

Now if only we knew someone who was in the Interplay IT department and had access to back up their data for them, maybe even a extra backup of the FO2 source

I sent Pete an email the other day askign if they have the FO2 source and if they coudl release it, I got this response:

We don't own the rights to any previously released Fallout games, so that's something that would have to come from Interplay, not us.

funnly enough I got a similiar response from the guys who made FOT when I asked if they could release any of the Dev tools and converters.

I don't know if you would be really happy with the sources. AFAIK the game was compiled using Watcom 10 and this compiler was also used for Duke3D. 3D Realms released the code and recoded some stuff because it won't compile on any modern compiler! So even if you got the code you'll need to make a lot of adjustments to get it working with devc++ or VC 2003.

This won't shorten the waiting time but: just wait for Beta 5 of IanOut and be sure that you'll get what you want (not to say that you'll even get features that never worked under Fallout II like Linux support )

uhu, as well as the fack that Beth only has the rights on the 3 next FO games, while Interplay keeps the rights to any spinoffs or whatever (MMORPG FOOL!, movie, whatever other garbage they want to dig up).

At least Interplay can't use the old Fallout textures for future spin-offs. They'll have to base all Fallout games on Fallout:Brotherhood of Steel textures.
