maybe you can use the laser to write your name in the desert or to draw something

Now that would be nice. A useless space laser and the only thing you can do with it is painting and trying to convince others you can destroy them.

Lynette, you are such a buzz killer

i think they will give the laser almost at the end of the game, and they will give you only 1 shoot

You could destroy all the other Zeta motherships hovering around Earth.

Or better yet destroy the moon, which is infested with Orion Dracos and greys.

I can't imagine where you would like / want to use a portable space cannon. No clue how it will be realized in the game later, but my first expectation is that it might be similar to the space bomb attack from Fallout 3 in that one satellite station.

This brings up my next question: How many fucking space stations are up in the sky and still working after so many years? Seriously... B.O.M.B.001 was cool, but this becomes way too much now.

You can't really say this is "too much" after BOMB001 because BOMB001 is part of an unreleased game and we only know about it from a leak

I personally would like to see more screens of the casinos they mentioned earlier. Here's also a bit of interesting facts. The Hoover Dam which is located in Boulder City, NV is 35 miles from Las Vegas.
Reno to Las Vegas is about 450 miles. And on a side note mostly pertaining to F2. The driving distance by car from Redding, CA to San Francisco, CA it's about 215 miles. So my guess is there won't be a chance to revisit New Reno.

Yeah, but after so many years, without people doing service jobs? Sounds doubtful.

Not really. The BOMB-001 functioned at minimum capacity for nearly two centuries with only an emergency reactor, so the technology to make satellites that stay in working condition (do note the difference between a "working satellite" and "satellite in working condition") for a few hundred years.

And "maintenance"? How often do people do maintenance on nearly impossible-to-access freely thousands of man-made satellites? These things are made to last, they're not your household toaster that can be repaired when broken.

Plus, it's not really 50s American for satellites to be easily broken.

I am not sure about this but I think I have read somewhere that satelites and orbital stations would after some time simply fall to earth cause of gravity.

I thought so to, but then I changed my mind.

The original plans assumed the orbit will last for some 2 000 years or so, but that was changed by nature.

However, unless you have information on solar activity in the Fallout universe, don't assume the orbital lifespan of the satellites is shorter.

I wouldn't call a massive laser cannon a minuscule detail.

Yes, yes it is. It's a single instance in the entire game. You're whining for whining's sake.

A one sentence bullet point (not even a quote) from a magazine and you all go "BAWWWWWW".

Stop whining. Christ.

Anyway, I hope that it will require some high Science stats and whatnot and not just be given to the player to use at any time. It should probably have a cooldown on the use.

If it was Bethesda, I'd have my doubts. Seeing how this is Obsidian and they generally know how to balance RPGs, I'm sure they'll have you meeting appropriate requirements.

yeah, i hope it'll need 20 hours in real time to cool down.

I was going to read that Famitsu article and see if it indeed contains any new info. Much to my dismay it's not from the Japanese Famitsu, unless they've started publishing it in Chinese in Japan.

So yeah, it's not Famitsu Japan for sure. :(

Ummm... From all the possible Fallout 2 towns i doubt New Reno will be the one that people want to revisit.

Ummm... speak for yourself, I would like to see what happened to New Reno. And that's the bottom line because Wretched Flamingo Said So!

It's not an orbital laser, it's the Helios One solar plant.

Ah my bad. So a mirror farm you can control with a remote to zap any location?

A little... less cool i guess.

Shame they didn't go all Cowboy Bebop and make it a sentient orbital laser weapon that got lonely.
Would make good use of the ol' Charisma skill to persuade it to toast your enemies.

If it's not in orbit, than how does this "laser platform" work? I don't see how you can summon a beam from Helios without something to bounce it off of.

No more self-aware machines are necessary, it's done way too much.
