Fallout 2 mod Fallout of Nevada, thoughts, impressions and opinion

First things first, thank you guys for your hard work.
Same here, good work.
Third, how do I bait the uranium city worms to the surface? I've used explosives in multiple places both in and outside the mine. There are supposed to be three worms and I've killed three molerat graphic using "mutants" in the mine long before even talking about it to Nelson, did I screw myself over?
You have to make noise using the cans hanging on the rod next to the mine entrance.
Fifth, where do I get the gas analizer? I've pretty much cleared out most of the game and really want to tie up the loose ends before taking the train on a trip to the mystery location that I suppose is the end of the game point of no return.
Explore Vault-tec equipment in different vaults (Reno (2 vaults), Wind of War, Salt Lake City etc.), that are on the wall.

I can not figure out how to get to the train, which is in Salt Lake City... :(

All I get is on the signpost is "You get a feeling it's not here for good looks", also what cans? The only can in the game I've seen was dog food from new reno.

Vault in salt lake city? Where is it? How do I get there?

I can not figure out how to get to the train, which is in Salt Lake City... :(

Go to the train depot (northern part of the city), go down the stairs (barely visible), do the puzzle (use only levers, for some reason computer only got me ctd), go up on the other side. Voila!

Fourth, similar as the third, can I finish the black rock/gestahl courier quest after having gestahl population move to vault city? Apparently I'm supposed to talk to his wife, but she's nowhere to be found.
There's a note in her room.
Sixth, is heart medicine a random spawn? I've got the first one from wind of war apothecary, now that I'm supposed to get a second one I can't find any, despite running circles between all of the wendors. None of the npcs that I thought would have some (like mr. Luciano who supposedly is after two heart attacks) has any.
Mayor of Vegas.
Seventh, is that hunting village near salt lake city an actual in game location? No one in the city has any dialogue about it.
No. Unfinished content.

The Chinese in Uranium City.

the Slum map, in abandoned house behind big blue sign letter "S" is a manhole (in this area are 2 small vaults) ;)

HA! And that is the problem, I can on some ladders go only up, not down (like in Area 51 and some other areas...)

EDIT: eh, I must click on platform (it is called ladder), ladder itself is called tanker :D many thanks for help

Thanks, just got the gas analyzer, finally.

Click on the very top part of the ladder, I had no issues neither here nor anywhere else.

On the side note, in area 51, can you do something about the flying saucer or enter the levels lower than the alien hatchery?

There's a note in her room.

Mayor of Vegas.

Thanks, I'll check these out.

The Chinese in Uranium City.

I only got them to give me their brahmin, then rigged it and detonated in the mine. So far I can't seem to move this quest further any other way.

EDIT: Found the cans, thanks.

Has anyone made a guide on this game? I'm having some troubles and can't find anything. I can't find where to place the bugs for Johnny Chase in New Reno

Here's a guide: https://fnevada.bgforge.net/

The passage section is extensive and covers all the approaches to quests and stat requirements. If you have any questions that aren't answered in the guide, do a search for keywords in Russian, for example by undoing the translation in your browser and entering "Fallout: Nevada" and the Russian keywords you're looking for into your favorite search engine.

Well, after eventually finishing it I am somewhat torn on this one.

On one hand, most quests are handled very well, giving you multiple ways to complete them and allowing to utilize different skills to achieve your goal. Unlike Fallout 2, Nevada doesn't really have dump skills and even has checks for Gambling and First Aid, which is a nice addition. The new mechanics can feel a bit unnatural at first, since they're beyond what previous isometric games offer and the help of walkthroughs is definitely appreciated on the first run.

On the other hand I'm really disappointed in the main quest finale and some other combat sections throughout the game, since the developers somehow felt the need to put overpowered enemies with hundreds of HP in front of you without giving a peaceful or alternative option to get past them.
The earth worms in Uranium City are fucking terrible, the Soul Reaper can go fuck himself with the regen and the gauss pistol and I didn't even bother to fight the Colonel, blasting his ass with the tactical missile)
This is exacerbated by the fact that the power armor feels like trash compared to its Fallout 2 counterpart, taking upwards of 50 damage from a P90 burst (without AP ammo, seriously?) and otherwise being just useful for the carry weight. I don't 100% know if it happens in Fallout 2 as well since I never played it without YAAM installed, but bursting down Power Armor with non-AP ammo shouldn't be even possible for all the hassle I went through in order to get that thing assembled.

Overall, a solid 8/10 for everything except the final quests, which really should be reworked to feature more options instead of plain stupid combat with 300+ HP healthbars.

Yeah, having finished it once, I too think that the endgame content is sorely lacking, and most prominent combat encounters were sadly bad as well.

Stealth is the lost art apparently.
I actually stealthed past The Reaper after I was done with Government Vault. I even use stealth to finish the end quest by going to the hidden terminal and activated security measure. But I can't, for the life of me, comprehend how are we gonna solve that with combat if we're making non-stealthy character.

Well, my character is a problem solver, not a rat that runs away from them. What's the point in sneaking past the main villain when he continues to terrorize communities afterwards?
Anyway, when making your endgame combat-oriented, at the very least adjust the XP gain so it's possible to get the Level 24 perk before going into it.

Most of the good guns from Fallout 2 were nerfed by adding +1AP requirement to shot. Prime example: gauss rifle (now require 6AP to shot). However, I have noticed that the two most powerful energetic weapons weren’t touched: YK42B pulse rifle and Turbo plasma rifle still operate at 5 AP per shot. I wonder if those rifles weren’t nerfed because they were forgotten or there is some reason for it? How the gauss rifle is so much better that it deserved nerf but YK42B (with its penetration perk) didn’t?

I have two more questions: What’s the best 4AP ranged weapon in the game?

And, can you get PPK12 Gauss pistol? (I found “a prototype” in random encounter but it doesn’t compare to the standard model).

Just finished the game and I found PPK12 Gauss pistol.

About my impressions,

The game is really, really good. Considering that it is a mod WOW! Incredible!

I can strait away recommend it to all Fallout 1 and 2 fans!

I’m going to keep it simple and write what I liked and what didn’t

Side quests are legendary here! Sides in Reno, The mayor quest in Las Vegas and many others… I just loved them.

Main story though throughout was very good but I must be honest I didn’t like the culmination of it. In my opinion the last quarter of the main story was over the top. The black humour was pushed stronger than in original games which proved to be too much (too sweet). Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad, but I was a little bit disappointed there.

Progression here is great, I think that I am able to estimate that I spent equal amount of game time in each kind of armour. That is a great thing because in original Fallouts even without exploiting the knowledge about the game it was easy to skip over some armours to get to much better ones relatively quickly.

Crafting also is a wonderful addition to the game.

Car is awesome.

And many other things, ring fights, having a business, attractions in cities… all great features.

In general, I believe it is the best STORY mod I have ever played. (I didn’t play many of large mods but I went through few and this one is the best)!

I looted one from the Reaper

I think the gauss rifle is the only one actually. What other small gun got its AP requirement raised?

How do I get pass the forcefield at the 2nd floor of the building in Hawthorne base ?

Also any hint on where to search for Machete's machete in the railway map ?
