Fallout of Nevada

It's great, considering that our side is quiet and nothing is known. Perhaps the translation we have in general no one is busy.

If in doubt, you can write to the PM, will help where possible. :)

The most important thing is not to break the game - I have found a few problems, but I'll try to sort them out after I'm finished. After that I will send you a copy to check...some Russian words don't translate easily into English, and it will require Russian knowledge.

I think I'll play it in Russian, but not anytime soon (maybe in a few weeks).

I always prefer games and mods in their native creation language. Fallout in US English, Gothic in German and STALKER in Russian. One can feel the writing style, subtle language nuances, jokes etc. much better that way, as well as learn something new.

Generally good to know many languages :)

I too like to play games on their native language, but there are lots of exceptions. I can not play RPG in their native language. And the quest I guess.

About translation:

I've played this mod and I was able to finish it. For those who have not played the mod yet: it's huge. It's (in my opinion) bigger than Fallout 1. Fallout of Nevada is mainly about talking - there are thousands of dialogue lines. While I was playing I wondered how some lines could be translated since, for example, english makes no difference in gender verbs, but russian does and this difference was necessary for that dialogue line. Plus there are plenty dialogues which are very "response sensitive", meaning that one answer wrong and you end in fight, jail or battle arena.

Another problem is that the mod is still evolving. We are expecting patch 1.0 and that would mean translating once again. Despite the bug fixes, patches also add new content and balance issues.

So I guess that Google or any automated translate is our (I mean non russian speakers') only hope - for now. When the mod is finished (another option is that the mod will be still evolving - see MegaMod or RP as an example) we can gather people for translating.

In soviet russia, every dialogue ends in combat. :p

Reminds me of FOnline beta 1, where we english speaking folks couldn't read the dialogue and most of the time someone clicked around in them, it ended in combat.

This translation is the dummy version - hopefully some super star will do a proper job...but yes - there is a lot of talking in this mod, which is good. I haven't got the time to read through the vast majority of the text - I have other projects waiting for me.

Hopefully there will be enough comprehension in there for an English speaking nob like me to get through the game.

I've finished the translation, but I'm double checking the files just in case. Included will be some critter fixes (missing animations).

@Master92 - I will send you a copy in a day or two.

Question - is it translation for 0.99a patch with all 4 hotfixes included? They can be found here at the official Fallout of Nevada forum.

Good job anyway. I would like to have a look at the translation too if possible. This might make a lots of people happy.

.Pixote.
Okay, I'll wait.

My English is not very good, but with Russian language I have never had any problems. :)

I can't pretend that this is a good translation - all of the interface and art is spot-on, but the text is horrible in some sections. But I think you could finish the game...though at times you might feel confused.

I'm hoping a few Russian / English speakers can separate the files into sections, share the work around, and then translate this thing properly.

Is this mod finished - just asking. :look:

About the mod being finished - yes and no. You can play and finish the game and have wonderful experience. On the other hand we are expecting new patch, as I have mentioned above, and on the FoN forum there is a topic called "Ideas and proposals" - and it got 11 pages full of ideas, so this game is still kinda work in progress.

About the proper translation - I might give a hand, but only if the mod is finished (no more patches) or the author of the mod is so nice and he highlights dialogue/text changes in every patch. Although both english and russian are my secondary languages, when I'll know that the translation is final I'll do my best to translate "a city or two". No promises tho.

The author will not do 11 pages of ideas - he has, as far as I know that do not time for it.

Expected to the patch, which result game in almost perfect form, fill up the soundtrack and are rumored to new videos.

The first patch had a small number of dialogue changes, maybe 4 files, so I wouldn't worry about patches. I just finished the location tags, I didn't have the same typeface, but it looks pretty good regardless. I wouldn't want to release this without the authors blessing. I hope those location translations are accurate. :look:
