It's obviously nom+gen in its Russian countertpart, so sticking to these cases is the only right way to translate it to English.

Because most of us don`t speak Russian :) Bulgarian and Russian are from Cyrillic language group, but they aren`t the same. I know some Russian, but I prefer English :)

This is an English translation for Fallout Of Nevada (it's still a work in progress so expect certain translation issues), can players please check it by playing the game. The art files are working properly (I've included some fixes for missing critter animations, because of that, the gray vault suit critter no longer has the skull on his back).

The dialogue and game files are another story, certain Russian words don't translate easily with Google translate, but hopefully they will be weeded out and translated correctly. :shrug:

Inside the folder are these files -

*data
*patch000.dat
*manual - it's still in Russian but smaller in size.

Just override the previous files.

The main translated text is inside \data\text\English folder. There you will find the dialogues, and game files. If you think you can fix a translation problem, please first mention it in the thread and hopefully our Russian speaking friends can assist. :wink:

Note - if you need to reference something, the original Russian language files are found in - \master.dat\text\english folder. If you need to identify a particular character then you might need to install the BIS Mapper and then locate that map - then press the i key to highlight the script name (which is often the dialogue name)...if that seems like too much work, then just enjoy the game, warts and all...:mrgreen:

Looks like you have forgotten the bio text of the premade characters. This is the only text in the whole game that is not saved in /data/text/, but in data/premade/*.bio instead. You can open the files with a text editor.

/Edit: Quest text in the PipBoy shows error as well.

/Edit²: Seems like it is only the very first location, though.

Also this mod totally needs Sfall. I am running over the worldmap in lightspeed.


/Edit³: Okay, I've played it now for some hours. The beginning is really good. Tensing, interesting, well scripted, etc. I like it a lot and it makes me think about changing the beginning of my mod a little bit, so it can be comperable in that case. :P

But I find the game very hard. The first thing I have done was going to Gecko, because it was the most closest location. There I've wasted all my anti-rad chems and most of my ammo, because I thought that I will find new supplies after I've dealed with the Geckos... but not much came out of it. Then I've destroyed the power plant front door because I thought in the inside I would find more supplies and stuff for my current quests. But... yeah, there are supplies, but also [spoiler:eaaa29d6fa]an army of robots[/spoiler:eaaa29d6fa] that I can't kill, because I am still too weak (level 3 already, though). I tried to outrun them for a while, but they always surrounded me, which meaned reloading the game.

So I said fuck it and moved on, to the second new location that I have on my map. And there I find... rats. Rats, everywhere rats. And I can't kill them. First because I don't have any ammo left and I suck at melee and unarmed and second, because I can't hit them. The molerats are no problem, but the mini-rats... I just can't hit them. And they are everywhere. This location made me think about maybe I should remove all rats out of my mod... just for the sake of it.

After exploring a bit, finding lots of empty houses and minor loot for something I don't know yet, I decided to run away from the rats to seek for some other location.

Was running around a bit, but somehow lacked conduction, I don't know. So I thought I can explore a bit more and found Reno... Where nearly everyone is ripping me off or wants to kill me or I don't know.

My opinion about the mod is, that it looks very well made. The maps are nice to look at, the new graphics have good quality and even the dialogue doesn't seem bad, as much as I can understand from the google-ish translation. But I horribly lack guidance. I have quests in my pipboy, but I can't complete them, because I seem to be too weak, I have places on my map, but I can't really explore them, because I seem to be too weak / not well enough equipped. I see no light at the end of the tunnel, no idea from where to exchange my money and other stuff into ammo, etc. etc.

This possibly can be due to the translation, stuff got lost and I just don't get it or overlooked something, etc. but so far I find it very stressfull and unrewarding. It's like someone punching me into the face all the time and the only way out is to reload to a time where someone started to punch me in the face all the time.
 
You have no idea how I understand you, Lexx. The begining (after leaving Vault City) was very hard for me. I also wasted all my drugs and ammo and I was forced to invest points into melee. Robots inside Power Plants are not that hard and with good sledgehammer you can beat them. But your objective is not in Gecko... I mean NPP Poseidon Oil.

For starter, it's a good idea to venture to New Reno. Don't worry about those people. They are just beggars. Annoying but it's for the sake of role playing. Try stealing. If I remmember correctly, one guy has SMG. Ammo is extremly rare, since you have to craft it (it will take a while till you can afford it). Thus try to hit the eyes and save your ammo (if you miss, load).

So for some tips:

- radiation sucks, but your doctor in Vault City can remove it for free
- pay close attention to the officer Peter in Vault City. He is your main quest giver. Your goal now is to find ESK in Hawthorne. It will take a while for you to get there.
- explore, steal and grab every loot and save money.
- there is no hurry, so you can farm experience and other. There are certain locations with respawning creatures for players to level their characters.

And - the game is hard, maybe too much, but the story was so astonishing in the end that it became my favourite mod of all time.

btw not sure if you can use sFall but it's possible to use High-res mod. You have to change some files though if you change it, but I sticked with default resolution.

Yeah, but it is so close to the starting point that I thought this is a kind of "early game" location that I should check out. I didn't saw anything that hinted me to "don't waste any bullets here yet!" until it was too late.

I was there in less than a minute, with no encounter or anything. :p It's generic Fallout 2 problem with worldmap travelling being too fast due to cpu speed. Of course, then I was stopped by rats that I can't hit (10% chance) :> and so on.

To be honest, that doesn't sound good to me personally. I don't like grinding and farming and try to avoid it whenever I can.

Guess the only thing I can do now is to start a new character with focus on melee and lockpick or such. Else it seems to become a reloading-game for me. So far, my scientific diplomatic character wasn't really of any use.

PS: I found a mistakes in translation. In the descriptions of objects, maps and cities. I will gradually correct this.

Pixote, you checked the dialogues? English-speaking man does not meet the difficulties?

from what I see the mod is hard but I think I would like the chalange. Looking forward in playing the mod!.
