Fallout 2 mod Fallout: Sonora

What exactly is the cannibal cafe encounter referencing? The rest of the special encounters already have a reference to something else, like Flying Padre, Outer Limits and other stuff, but this one eludes me

Has anyone unlocked these before the credits roll? I found these images inside the mod that seem to hint at new endings, but I haven’t been able to trigger any of them myself. If you pulled it off, any tips you could share would be amazing!

I found a town “art” (typically displayed via a button press, when you reach a location on the PIP’s map) in Sonora’s mod, too, which I’m assuming was cut from Fallout: Sonora at an unclear point of its development process.
I wonder if some of these slides I encountered were cut from the released builds.

I'm sure I've the Jackal one, after making an alliance between them and the rangers
First one is the Villa dies after you kill the peasants, I think especifically Hidalgo
I don't know about the center one, I've seen a red version used in the soundtrack's YT thumbnails though

Can someone explain how poison works in Sonora? Specifically, how to make it.
You don't need to make it, just use a Scorpion Tail on whoever you want to kill except the Mad Bitch and I believe the rest of the Jackals

That one is not used in the end slides. The other two are.

Incidentally, the first slide is one of only two that use in game shots, like Fallout 2 - Fallout 1 uses only 2D images/scenes and no in game shots for end slides. Did anyone find the 'in game' end slides off-putting? I was of a mind to create 2D images using the opening villa movie as a base.

That’d be rad.

Replacing the in-game screenshot ending slides would ensure a visually unified and cohesive ending experience.

But how exactly? I have a Scorpion Tail in my inventory, I selected it on a person – nothing. I put it in my hand, no luck either. Even when sneaking, nothing happens. The info box just says: 'That does nothing.'

I wonder if it's possible to stop war between Rangers and Brotherhood of Steal and make peace beetween these two factions when your character has a high charisma and high speech and make an alliance against the mexican army.

My sentiments exactly.

Spoiler: I already made them.
I'm glad to hear it!

It's not the entire list of critters that you may target this way, otherwise it would've replaced the reverse-pickpocket timed device method, due to being far cheaper, and safer.
Examples of valid targets: Ghoul leader (power plant's community), and this weak-minded, puppeted former villager.
Invalid target: Humanoid companions, like the one added by the optional expansion, Dayglow.

I achieved the endings I was chasing, much appreciated!

Rrrr! Long live the mad biznatch!
It looks like Sonora only checked old Hidalgo status, as I left the other villagers unharmed, and triggered the bad ending.

@OnlyALad
I was wondering if you might know how to achieve another specific ending in the game? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There's an ending where the Tinsmiths inadvertedly become more humanlike, that I didn't manage to get.

This is what the narrator has to say ("END_TS6" file):
1: Despite their technological superiority, the Tinsmiths remain dependent on the outside world.
2: Without even noticing it, they change, regaining some of their lost humanity.

They presaged the expansion of the Brotherhood, and seemed to be on good terms with them, so
I joined them (I suppose it's one of the requirements for the ending).

I didn't physically harm the Tinsmiths leader, or other members, for obvious reasons.

I saved Villa's future, at the cost of its inhabitants freedom.

I nuked the cathedral in Phoenix, sabotaged the mine in Flagstaff, and disabled the machine, permanently, in Garage City.

In the end, what I got was this. It's not the ending I was aiming for.

Ah. Okay, I get it. The reason I was asking about that at all was that I read the walkthrough, and it mentioned that you could poison him, but didn't describe how. You can't find anything about it in the game either, but I think I know now how it works. I just poisoned the leader of the Red Cardinals. Thanks.

No sweat! Well done wrapping it up!

Could you DM me with the link for the walkthrough, I’d like to check it out?

EDIT: I looked for Sonora mod walkthroughs on a few search engines, but I've come up empty-handed on my pursuit. Closest thing to that is the mod's wiki, which is helpful, but I don't think comparing it with, let's say Per J. walkthrough, would be a fair comparison.

If I'm being honest I don't know, I've only finished 1 ranger playthrough but based on the description
Perhaps never help the Tinsmiths at all with opening the Zone and/or destroy the Brotherhood?

@Zaius238 - That Tinsmiths ending is the final default ending if all other endings are not achieved. So Zax must be neither destroyed, nor released, Tinsmiths can not have been slaughtered, Hard must still be alive, and the Cult of Phoenix must not be destroyed.

Also, does anyone have trouble playing the videos in the 'Archive' of the pipboy. I am noticing that some do not play, and I am trying to figure out if that is an issue with the mod, the translation, or Fallout 2 CE (which I uses and noticed this on)

The initial cutscene has never played for me, the first one you unlock on the Pip-Boy after creating your character
Even when clicking on it nothing happens, though I've seen all of the other ones I think (Photos-Cathedral-Ship)

Yeah, the initial 'Returning Home' cut scene does not exist. I thought the 'Destroying the Cathedral of Fire' video existed, but looking in the master.dat reveals only a placeholder video. I swear I saw it though. Maybe I am remembering the destruction of the cathedral in Fallout 1.
