Fallout system requirements revealed, gold confirmed

I'd really like to see a comparison between the 360, PS3, and PC. I'm hoping the PC will deliver a better visual experience.

Saying that gamespot will do one is a pretty safe bet. They always do that with good... uhm... popular games.

My computer falls in between the minimum and recommended system requirements. You'd think I'd be able to play Fallout 3 with the settings on low and with some tweaking, but for some reason I doubt it. And it certainly wouldn't be my fault since Half-Life 2, a game that looks so much better than Fallout 3, runs like a dream on my rig.

I'm getting this on my 360! God, I just CANNOT wait for this game. I don't care what ANYONE tells me about it. It is going to be insanely fun, and that's that.

Insightful, deep, and revealing comment.

Thank you for your intriguing commentary.

Now, how about you share with us WHY you think it's going to be "insanely" fun?

Mine falls somewhat in the beginning of the minimum requiriments. My RAM is at the recomended settings, my video card is lower than minimium (but not much, it's a GeForce 6200), my processor is somewhat superior to the minimum requiriments, but I'm planning to overclock it a bit. Of course, I'm going to play this in super-low, just to play safe.

Also, it's a bit fun how Half-Life 2 looks so marvellous and runs so smootly on my pc, while Fallout 3 has about the same graphic detail, but needs about three times more pc power. Bethesda can't optimise computer games to save their life, my god.

Before you purchase a brand new high end video card. Don't forget that if you have a lousy CPU, it could bottle neck it. Then you won't be able to take advantage of that new video card.

Like that guy said, I would also recommend a Radeon 4850. If you want to go a little cheaper, but still kicks ass, then an 8800GT 512MB would be good, its like $120 or so on Newegg, could be cheaper. But if you want to spend $60-70 more than a 4850 like I did, get the Radeon 4870 512MB. Its a damn good card, and fast to boot. Plus it doesn't slow down when you enable Anti-Aliasing.

If I do, then I know you guys will just bash my opinions to death, because I don't believe that Bethesda is a terrible developer and that Fallout 3 is a travesty, but I will go on anyway. I loved Oblivion because of its amazing open environment, creative quests, and deep RPG elements, and I expect F3 to be more of the same. Sure, it probably is "Oblivion with guns", but to me, that actually sounds like a good thing. I think that you guys need to look at this as a new series, set in the same universe. You can't base all of your opinions on the previous games when looking at Fallout 3. Also, the game hasn't come out yet, so I don't know how any of us can really have a solid opinion on it yet.

Your money would be better spent on food and bullets given the state of the global economy. No way in Hell am I going to upgrade for some stupid game at this point, let alone this game.

As anybody is, you're entitled to your opinion. I would, however, contest a couple of key points you've made:

1. If it were a new series, it should not have been called Fallout 3. Since it is Fallout 3, it should and will be judged based on previous titles.
2. The game has not been officially released, but gameplay videos of the leaked Xbox 360 version are easy to find and show quite a lot to form opinions on.

I won't touch on your opinions about Oblivion, though. We've all already made horse paste out of that one.

Come on now. Fatal Labyrinth was a helluva lot more deep the Oblivion and they both are the same damn thing! A Dungeon crawler.

Hell I own Oblvion so I know for sure it ain't a deep RPG.

And now for...On-Topic.

Damned If I know my PC Could handle it.

I expected higher requirements.
Oblivion has tendency to stutter when area becomes crowdy [I mean Oblivion with mods that add some life to this empty, tedious world] and it still can happen even on PCs that are far better than recommended configuration. And it was said [IIRC in Swedish review] that Fallout 3 is rather crowdy game.

Hahahaha, man, that's awesome. If you didn't want us bashing you to death, you shouldn't have said that.

I'm playing Oblivion right now. Just got it two weeks ago, to see what it was like. And, well, while it's a relatively good game, I wouldn't say that it has creative quests, and NEVER EVER would call it a RPG. Ok, it's a fairly good adventure game, but a below poor RPG.

About Fallout 3's specs they not like Oblivion's, they're higher. Except for those open areas, due to all that grass, Oblivion runs well in my machine, with almost everything set at minimum. But I'm quite sure that Fallout 3 won't run on

my shitty PC.
AMD 64 3000+,
1GB ram,
NVIDIA Geforce 6100 integrated.

I'm going to assume this'll run on my laptop since Oblivion did but it's odd that my ATI X1400 isn't on the list but the X1300 and X1600 are. Then again I know jack about video cards so it might not be that odd. So while I won't get this game at launch, it's nice that I at least have to possibility to pick it up if I see it on the clearance rack.

You can't honestly compare HL2 (aka uberlinear game with small levels that load every five minutes) to FO/Oblivion (aka ubernonlinear game where you can go wherever you want whenever you want).

Also, HL2 has 5 years old engine (and I know, Gamebryo is old too).

Still, the HL2 engine is technical art... The netcode aswell is still top notch.

On that note, been playing some warhammer online recently - the network side seems to work great with minimal to none noticeable lag when you have 60 versus 60 people duking it out in a public non-instanced area.

Oblivion seems bloated and doesn't justify the requirements is my opinion.

AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual Core Mobile ZM-80 at 2.10 GHza

So I don't met the minimum 2.4 Ghz requirements and my card wasn't listed. Will it be able to run this game? Maybe not at full settings, but would it be playable?
Any Dual Core Processor should outrun a Pentium 4. I don't know about the graphics card.

Yes. A five years old engine that looks much better. Including shadows, too.

they allready bought it for oblivion and got used to it - why invest more money or time into it ? who cares if its 4 years old just shove everything innit ...

also theyre using that face and body and animation thing.. its just a pileup of parts that work together but not much else...

More effort better results?
Evidently people weren't all too happy with it in oblivion so they where hoping that it would had gone through some redesign and work better in Fallout 3.

With the amount of money spent on other less important aspects i think they should have spent more on this.
