Fan Made Fallout demo in a week

Coming out of the left field, F2 total conversion project Fan Made Fallout is set to release a demo (or beta?) by the 8th.
Okay, well ... you've all waited 7 years for it and it's finally here. The Demo. However, we do need to regrettably need to push the demo back a few days. Here's the lowdown:

1 - We have two scripters. That's it .. two scripters who have to do ALL the work by themselves. And actually, they've really kicked ass on getting something ready to go. But unfortunately they used all the time scripting and they never got to playtest it. So first and foremost they need a few extra days to make sure it works .. otherwise we're really just going to embarass ourselves. We'd prefer not to do that.

2 - I've been called out of town on business. I know, it's kind of a stupid thing to push the launch for but as the project leader, I kinda need to be a part of the launch. This one we can blame on my work.

But really, it's not that big of a delay. What we want to do is push the launch a few days until Wednesday, February 4th. This will give our script lead time to finish up the build and prepare it for launch. On the 4th we'll release the pre-beta so that you all can start messing around in game while we finish some last minute details.

Then, on February 8th we'll release the second upload for the beta. This will be the complete initial launch. The plan from there is to update the build weekly and impliment the rest of our quest list and features for the beta launch.

Frankly, we would have loved to put more in at launch but there really are only two scripter doing 4 years worth of work in a very short period of time. So we also very much appreciate the understanding that it's a big task for a very small team.

But we're just about there, so please bear with us and we hope you won't mind waiting a few more days.

We'll see you on Wednesday!
Hurray and huzzah.

Looking forward to it.

Listen, to the scripters... I just got unemployed; if you need anyone to edit the writing, I'm largely free. References available on request.

Oh, c'mon, Aus, 2008 or bust was typically the kind of bravado that makes you go "I'll believe it when I see it", but if someone says "it's out in a week", I assume it's pretty much done (the beta, in this case).

Looking forward to it. Regularly updated (in this case weekly) builds sound like a good idea to me. Gives the community a good way to test the latest version, report bugs and give feedback right away.

Heh. modding Fallout sucks, that's for sure. I, for example, screwed something with the map.txt when I added a map through the FSE and now I can't get either Fallout nor the Mapper to work, so I am not surprised by the constant delays these guys have.

I am looking forward to it, though.

Sweeeet, I was just wondering about the status of FMF yesterday, but couldn't remember what it was called.

First, only handmade is worth a shit. Use FSE only for scripting.
Second, backup? If you don't make a backup before every bigger change, it is your own fault. ;)

Heh, I was simply trying to see if it'll work. True about the back-up, though.

I'll get it to work sooner or later, anyway.

Wow, can't believe this project is actually nearing completion. Next thing you tell me AoD is coming out this week.

And who is this Sebastian guy. Is DU still involved in the project?

Finally some news about the real fallout, can't wait to play it, wish I had time to help but I'm to busy digging my own vault.

I am the chosen one!

Heh, I'm the current project leader. DU has taken a back seat in the project for the last few years to work on other things. He has left his brain child in the hands of those that have helped see it along for the last couple of years. He checks in once in a while to say hello and see how things are going.

And in other notes, yeah .. so we're just about ready to launch for the demo. The guys (both of them) have been busting their asses so hard core they didn't get a chance to playtest their own work and as you may have suspected, there were bugs that came up in the build that they didn't get to see until now that prevented game play.

Well, obviously you don't launch a demo beta to a community that no one can even play. So we pushed it a week. We should be able to get it out on Sunday. Worst case scenario if they need a few more days we will push it a few more days. But yes, you will be playing the first look at our work very very shortly.

If you have more questions, please feel free to come visit us at the project website: www.fanmadefallout.com.

I'll try to check back in here, too.

I still don't know what the story is, etc. heh. Let's wait and see. :)

omg dont delay!

I'll play your mod even if it's unplayable.

Even if all I can do is hover the mouse over objects to get new and unique Pip-Boy Texts!

OMG! Don't delay! MUST HAVE TRUE FALLOUT EXPERIENCE, otherwise i'll never work up the courage to just beat F3.
