Fan Made Fallout demo in a week

Yeah. :)

In theory it is pretty easy do make a total conversion. But then, the biggest issue is time and motivation. If the motivation is down, the work will not get done and everything is stopped.

Damn you, motivation.

And it has been FOR YEARS

Ouch!

It hasn't been that way for years since I joined. It's been steady and consistent progress. When I initially started, the project had hardly got anywhere in years, but since then, it's amazing how far its gone.

On a side note, it's not hard to see why nobody takes on total conversions. Whenever there's any slight hiccup or delay, they are slated.

Yet none of the critics ever offer any help.

Great news, looking forward to it. Once considered trying to contribute to the project with some writing, had a sample dialog tree half-completed before some indomitable apathy settled in and stole my 'muse', as it were.

I was once a one-time Mutants Rising writer. They told me to make a dialog and I made a dialogue-tree sketch in word (I hadn't the tools for a proper dialog yet). Unfortunately, I had a bad case of Writer's Block at the time. However, I managed to write enough dialogue so that they could go with my dialog to gauge the character's personality. It seems they liked my idea for the character, although I was sad I could't write him in full.

I tried writting another character in another location, but by that time, my Writer's Block took full control and I could't write a line if my life depended on it. That also stopped a Fallout fanfic I was writting, and I only managed to publish the second chapter last month. The first chapter was published in April 2008, so you can see how bad my writer's block was.

I HATE WRITER'S BLOCKS!!! :(

Image this times a thousand ... that's what it's like when people join projects telling us they can help and then suddenly there's nothing coming out of them. I'd say over the 7 year span of FMF there's been a ton of people who come and then go with nothing but a word.

In fact, we posted information about our demo launch two weeks ago and we get this message on our board from some guy who has a company or something with a bunch of guys who'd like to help out and when I asked him for more information about him and his buddies ... yeah, I never heard from him again. It is EXTREMELY difficult to pull off a total conversion. We're lucky to have found the guys we did to script for us.

If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be talking with any hope at all. We'd be discussing how FMF was just another vaporware ... in fact .. we probably wouldn't be talking about it at all! So we'll take what we can get and try to use it as motivation to keep us going.
