Far Cry 5 - Where the rural Americans are the good guys and liberals go nuts

You¡re kind of moving away of the point that is obvious nitpicking being worryingly taken as gospel, but either way.

Just go play Far Cry 2, and see how the very comparatively minor "game feel" elements (I've watched that video a million times) can carry it for you. That's all I can really say about it.

Oh, and you can shoot through walls in FC5. With armor piercing ammo. And in GTAV having guns aimed at people can make cars stop (they sometimes prefer to gamble it and roll you over or run). Not so sure about having their hands up but I recall sometimes them falling in some surrender animation.

Sorry if I'm missing the point. I'm just trying illustrate that subtle differences are often more important to a game than they initially appear to be. I recognize that there may be significant bias in the presentation of the videos, but I know from personal experience that the Grand Theft Auto one is at least partially accurate.

My bad too, I kind of despise that format and the absolute sperglords it spawns, as it kind of foresees the death of criticism. As for GTA every rockstar game bores me to damn tears so you're the expert there.

I just really don't get what am I supposed to do out of the most of the time kind of drossy story quests! Now multiplayer custom modes and races, those I get. Kind of feels like Garry's Mod with more production value in exchange of immediate flexibility.

Their games just had solid presentation, they weren't necessarily the deepest things in the world. Most had fun physics, great box art, detailed environmental simulations, amazing soundtracks, aesthetically pleasing user interfaces, well written stories, and interesting settings. Otherwise they were linear as fuck and not really all that innovative.

They're kind of like playgrounds you can watch a movie in.

Far Cry 2 is also one of my favorites in the series. I think i like it because the world felt very hostile. The entire African jungle felt like a death trap that at any time i could be gunned down by enemies. In 3, 4 and by the looks of it, 5 too, the world just feels too much like your playground. There's no constantly looking over your shoulder to see if anyone wants to kill you.

hehe, perfect.

Like I said, I´m playing this game right now. Yesterday I made the mission "smell of gas". Took me 3 hours. You know why?

Because on one of the previous missions, I died after completing it, and I did not have the opportunity to save, so I lost all my progress. For this mission, every step I did, I went out of my way to unlock a safe house or go to a weapons store to reload the ammunition, to change my equipment and save the game.

The result? My buddy died because he was waiting for me in an ambush and I was too sissy to go straight to him, I had to save before.

This is Far Cry 2.

Sorry for off topic. Continue with the subject of the thread, which is Far Cry 3 ..... I mean, 5.

I may have finished Far Cry 2, but I never got into it. Too much bullshit with every single person in the world attacking you simply for existing to the point where I wonder why they're even at war with each other if they want me dead so bad. I enjoy getting into fights in games as any other person but I can't walk five feet in FC2 before I'm bombarded by enemies and those stupid checkpoints every 50 meters. Combine that with how linear the game world is (can't really use gliders outside of specific areas) compared to others and I really don't think highly of it.

Far Cry 3 is better but it doesn't really do anything too unique in my opinion. A lot of it was done better in other games and I still have yet to finish it. Once Vaas dies it's like "why am I still here?" Granted I presume that's an intentional element to help show how far Jason's thirst for chaos is, but it doesn't make me want to continue. It's pretty average for me honestly.

Far Cry 5 seems like it'll be the first Far Cry I'll actually enjoy playing. Reminds me of Outlast 2 except much less horror based obviously.

Fun fact: Far Cry 5 has outsold all other Ubisoft games but the Division.

Which is a shame because the Division sucked.

I live under the deepest rock on planet Earth, and I even saw advertisements for Far Cry 5. I would imagine their marketing budget was through the roof.

A novel premise probably didn't hurt, either.

Only reason the Division even sold well was because of Ubisoft's misleading marketing. Making the game too be far much better than it really is.

Plus multiplayer games from "AAA" companies tend to sell well. With some exceptions, of course.

I never once saw an ad for far cry 5. Not once. I heard about it through SJW praise and then eventual SJW meltdown.

I'm still trying to get why they thought it would be about white nationalism when they said "cult" and never wavered from cult.

Same here. I saw the site Polygon dinging the game several points down for being "too apolitical" and not trying to lean towards left or right politics.
Like reading these last two paragraphs left me scratching my head with fewer brain cells.

No such thing as bad publicity.

If I had to guess, I either saw the commercials on ABC during American Idol or on Viceland during reruns of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. I don't personally watch much TV. I just remember the ads being aggressive, like they were on every break.

What the fuck? Isn't this a AAA game about shooting shit and doing crazy stunts? Why would someone even remotely expect it to take a political stance? If anything, it should gain points for being apolitical. Everybody is sick of politics, especially in entertainment.
