Feline surprise

This reminds me of my cat & dog. They are pretty nuts on their own, and I don't have any idea how haven't they killed each other so far.

Well there is a happy ending for my feline guest and her kittens.
After several days of calling various humane organizations and searching for her owner she has been picked up by the animal ambulance today and has been brought to the animal shelters where she and her kittens can stay until they are all ready for adoption.

The shelter was rather reluctant days ago to take on my guest and her babies as the rules demanded that an attempt to find her owner would be done first.

That wasn't a very easy task as a lot of people have cats here.
After some asking around I found the person from where the mother cat originally came from when she was a kitten.
Someone in my apartment complex had adopted the cat but this revealed to be a mood of the moment thing.

Two weeks ago the owner put the cat on the street and left her apartment, not moving, simply leaving her apartment.
She and whoever else lived with her had problems with various organizations so its clear that they weren't very stable people.

They should not have adopted this cat in the first place and it is a good thing that I was around at the time the cat needed it.

After another organization I had contacted had looked into finding the apartment owners in order to ask them if they would give up the mother cat and her babies for adoption, failed to find them they contacted me again that I could now call the animal shelter again and that the cats were now officially homeless.

Several hours ago the animal ambulance visited me again and I got to say goodbye to the mother and her babies before the animal ambulance people brought them to the shelter.

Just in case people are concerned, we don't have a kill policy regarding adoptable animals in the Netherlands.
Like I wrote before, the mother and her babies can stay at the shelter and be put up for adoption when the kittens are old enough.
The mom will be fixed so that she will not have more in the future.

Good for you, Dutch, and nicely done. You should change your avatar from "villain" to "good guy"
Too bad happy endings like this are rare...

Indeed, I really wanted to make sure that the mother and her babies would go to a good place from where they would be able to be adopted by genuine loving and caring people.

Even if they found the owners I am not sure if I would return the mother and the kittens to them, after all they abandoned her in the first place.

And I was very concerned if they would be put down, hence why I asked several times to the various organizations and the animal shelter what would happen to them once they would pick them up.

Would the possibility have had existed then I would have kept them until the kittens were two months old, not enough space and money be damned.

In case people are interested, here are some pictures of the kittens

Mmmmmm - those would be great fried...

I feel like playing The Most Dangerous Game with you.
You now have a three hour start.

To be fair, "Feline Surprise" does sound like something you'd order at a Chinese restaurant.

Didn't pay much attention while reading the story the first time, so when i saw lines like: let her check my place out, taken a spot on the bed, stroking, it all suddenly started to sound really interesting for me, but alas i was up for a disappointment. A good story nonetheless.

Yep, I am more concerned if the mother finds her owner.
But she is also young herself so she should also be easily adoptable if the owner is not found.

Going to miss them though.

Be careful with young cats who have kittens. Much like humans, a cat who gets pregnant too early can have some serious mental issues. It seems the sudden change of responsibilities is just as traumatizing to little kitties as it is to teen females.

Case in point, we had the sweetest little cat who got preggers way too young. After her children matured and where free to go, she would suddenly attack them for no reason, hunt them down and attack and hog all the food. She would not let humans touch her except for me and my father (the people she was comfortable with) and even then she would hiss and claw with too much attention and stimulation. She became a loner when once she used to crave love and attention.

Wooah!! Same story happened to my parents. It was really sad as her litter just wanted to be close to her but she would beat the shit out of em once they were a few feet away. So you often saw em hanging out at the minimum distance to her.

Heh heh heh, sorry to disappointment you but it honestly reads 'feline' and not 'female'. :D
