FEV and Downside?

I was playing FO 1 through again and the same question I had the first time came accross my mind again. What's so bad about the Unity winning, in fact if everyone got mutated into a Super-Mutant, what's not to like? Lets go step by step.

Pros

1. Instead of being physically weak, you would be extremely strong.

2. Sharper Senses

3. Increased Intellegence (At Least you and your vault dwelling friends would be assured of that, as you would have no rad count.)

4. Everyone gets along and follows one leader

5. Longer life span, perhaps even infinite as the Zax computer says.

6. Shared Resources so nobody is without. (In Fact, the necropolis pump chip could be used in your vault to provide a nice home/base

7. Better Guns and the Training to use them

8. you can bring anyone who dissagrees with you around with one guaranteed step.

9. One United World for progess

Cons.

1. Ugly (but if everyone was a mutant it wouldn't matter

2. The one leader/ lack of freedom... Although you wouldn't be 100 percent free, the master can't be everywhere all the time. Anyway, all of the mutants seemed to like what was going on anyway and were happy to have been Mutated.

3.Some might die, but that's progress.

4. Sterility... This may fade on it's own as in FO2, or with the super smart scientists and longer life spans it could probably be addressed. With a whole planet of people to dip it probably wouldn't be an issue for a while anyway...

So, what do you guys have to think? Did I miss anything or am I right?

The downsides of the being turned into a mutant is much worst than upsides. The Master, and mutants from FO1 were evil. He was nothing more than an ugly, over-glorified slaver. He kidnapped humans, than brainwashed them. Hmmm... yeah, that's a good thing.

It's a fucked up world, Volourn, so calling someone 'evil' is like saying that somebody breathes air. Brotherhood of Steel could be called evil because they didn't openly share their technology with the world.

Brainwashed? By applying a simple LOGIC you could see that what the Master proposed was a right thing to do. In fact, he may be the only really 'good' character in all Fallout, because he not only worried about the future of the world, but he actually tried to do something for the future (unlike the hoarding Brotherhood).

You actually believed his self-promotion? Yes, it is a fucked up world; but still doesn't let you get away with kidnapping people; and torturing them through the use of FEV which is akin to brainwashing. I think the Master is just hateful towards his formerly fellow humans because of what happened to him. He is out for his own unpure power, and revenge for those who done him wrong.

The BOS can be accused of neutrality; but not evilness.

All this is my opinion. I think too many people got suckered by the Master's words. I think he must of had a high speech skill. Hehe!

theres no such thing as good or evil, just two sides with different opinions on how things should be done.

Actually, I have. It's just my opinion; just like you obviously have yours. Nothingw rong with that. No need for jabs.

He`s right Aptyp, no need for jabs. Hey i`m glad you`re back in NMA, anyway, things just aren´t the same without you ;-)

Vol... I don't really see how you could call the master evil. Like the other guy said, he's the only one who tried to do something to help everyone in the whole game. If you listen to what he says, he's obviously trying to do the right thing, even if his actions were flawed his intentions were good.

As far as brainwashing is concerned, everyone is brainwashed from the time they are children to think a certain way.
Anyway, all of the mutants in the game seemed to approve of what was going on and in fact would do what they could to help, even if it meant going out of their way, so it's not like they were held against thier will. I don't think they were brainwashed at all, just brought around to a different perspective. It'd ignorant to only think one way just because that's how you've always been.

Mybe tos ay he's extremely evil is too extreme; but saying he's the supreme good guy in the game is extreme as well. I mean forcing people to get dipped into goo (the FEV) isn't exaxtly nice. Plus, didn't the Master have a policy of killing anyone who disagreed with his viewpoint. Hmmm... That's not exactly looking for a peaceful solution. And, I have a funny feeling that the vast majority of mutants didn't volunteer to enter the FEV. Just a hunch. I guess you guys would argue that the Enclave were good as well as they were just trying to save all of of humanity.

The enclave was just doing what is good for it, they just say things differently then your vault dweller. In Fact, in FO2 you destroy the whole tanker, not caring about any innocents or non-combatants that may have been on board, so you basically do the same thing.

And just because you don't wanna do something doesn't meen it's not the best thing to do... Heck, when I was a kid my parents made me go to the dentist when I didn't want to, but now that i'm older I see the need for it. Probably the same thing...

"When I was alive I didn't see the need to die, but now I do." Riiiiight.

BTW, the oil rig wouldn't have any room for innocents. Everyone on it would, in one way or another, be helping to commit genocide.

No, more like...

"Before I forced into getting dipped in the vats and joining the Unity, I didn't see how it could save the world..."

And I think the master said he was going to give everyone the oppportunity to be mutants, not just kill everyone

He was creating and equiping an army of mutants. He was most definitely going to kill people.

He was only created an army of mutants in order to have the power to create more mutants... perhaps with less casualties because of HAVING the army.

Ex. Who would a town more likely surrender too without a fight... a few mutants who may or may not be able to control them, or a huge over-powering army that they obviously have no chance to defeat.

Think about it
