Look, Ma! Two Heads!
I am on the process of a weapons mod for f2 changing like 90% of the original weapons and ammo with real life weapons, ammo... The energy guns will mostly be brought in from fallout tactics.

I will also be changing the most of the weapon sfx to fallout tactics sfx because they sound more realistic

Name, info, and weapon attributes will mostly be changed but they will be within the f2 damage tables (there will not be any superguns in this mod). I am about 50% done and slowly progressing in my spare time... here's 2 screenies of my work :)




I was in a rush when I made the screenies... Comments? Questions?
 
Uh, the main menu screen caption ought to read 'WEAPONS", I think. Or "WEAPONS'"

*sigh* It would be nice for a change to see a weapons mod that took out the real guns and made 90% of the guns hand made weapons, zip guns, pipe rifles and crossbows. Ah well each to their own.

If you're going to make a real guns mod why not take out the energy weapons entirely? Besides I think FOT only has two new energy weapons, the spasm and the prototype pulse rifle. FO1&2 offered more choice with the turbo plasma rifle and extended capacity laser rifle etc.
 
I like to see you make a crossbow weapon work... I am limited with some things you see. I cannot make the guy pull out crossbow because there is not crossbow animation ingame. I am taking the fot energy weapons because they look better and Its not easy making your own weapons...

I like your ammo pics Xavierbazer... there going in :) Might use sawoff too but some of your weapons pics are not real life weapons (or just dont look close enough in my eyes) and thats not what im looking for but thx for the help :)
 
Is it possible to modify the weapon damages and if it is, how?

I really don´t like the idea of adding loads of weapons that really don´t fit in the Fallout world ( at least how I imagine it) I prefferd the F1 style of "new" weapons (like the AK112) and Post-Apocalypse classics like the sawed-off.
Instead I would like to see a mod making the guns already in realistically powerful like this:

Hit in arms

-crippled more often
-weapon drops (not too often)

Hit in legs

-fall down
-crippled more often
-temporary speed penalty

Hit in torso

-fall down (possibly unconscious)
-death
-penalty to everything (kinda like crippling)

Hit in head

-death (if not wearing somekind of helmet)

There still would be more and less lethal hits, ie: if you get hit in the head and get lucky you dont die, just get one helluva concussion. Shots that just scratch you should not make any damage as those really dont have any effect and thus are the same as missed shots.

Another thing would be changing the reload/shoot ap-costs (now what does take more time, pressing a trigger or removing the empty clip, taking another from your pocket and inserting it into the gun?)

Though this probably doesn´t work gameplay-wise, it would be interesting to experiment. Im sorry about my wrong opinion and the suffering it has caused. Im also sorry about my spelling but this spellcheck thingy doesn´t seem to work.

Well someone was working on a crossbow anim, Wild Qwerty IIRC but even if he wasn't do you really need one? With so many different types of rifles using the same animation or pistols using an smg animation what does it matter if you have a crossbow that uses a rifle or smg animation?
 
Those look good Finesse. I've also attempted to make new weapon frms, albeit with some difficulty (can't get the palette to to not mess up at times).

I've hoarded various interesting gun jpgs and gifs from the Internet for a while now. I've got about 8.5 megs worth of em, and if you want, I'll zip them up and send them to you. If you need an e-mail that can take it, just pick up a gmail account.

It would look stupid in my eyes... I am correcting this kinda stuff in my mod (ex: 233 pistol will look like a pistol)

You bet, how huh? :) There are multiple programs you can use to edit proto files... I like to use fime, you can find these programs at the nma downloads area or go to teamx (these guys are good) here... http://www.teamx.ru/eng/files/utils/index.shtml

I am not adding anymore weapons than there already are... I am simply taking the old ones (like the ak-112) and make the picture more realistic while adding very few new ones (if you look at the screenshot of the ak-74... thats going to be taking over the ak-112)

As for the criticals aspect you are talking about, some would be cool like arms and legs break easier... guns actually blow up on you... as for headshots, i dont know... it would be realistic but I fear it would ruin the whole f2 atmosphere

There will be little changes done to the ap usage... except for some weapons that I feel where handicaped (ex: like a knife attack 3ap while ripper is 4ap... so im going to change the ripper to 3ap).

Damage amounts and damage type can be changed. The damage type can only be one of the original types though: normal, laser, fire, plasma, electrical, emp, explosion. Changing these two things is simple editing of numbers in the item proto.

We can't change any of this, it's all hardcoded in the game engine. The only hope we have for these kinds of mods are if the FO2 engine source gets released.

Changing the attack AP is no problem. Changing reload AP has no effect at all in the engine. It's always 2 AP.
 
Ahh, the mark XIX titanium gold with tiger stripes deagle. Im replacing the mauser with that one... so youll have to search for that gun, and im making it into .50AE so it will be worth the trip :)

Ive been going through those pics you sent me Czar Nick and there are alot sweet ones! Youre definetly going to see alot of those pictures ingame (i think like 8 of them). Thanks alot! Im going to put you on the main menu screen along with others who have helped me :)

Thats all i'll ask for. One question, I couldn't help but notice that great beretta with the compensator in your first screen shot. I do not know exactly what it's called but I remember it was in the movie Equillibrium, so will it have the "burst" function as well? (I know full auto is not possible in F2)
 
Hehehehe I made a FRM for a Desert Eagle with a Compensator a while ago, the idea was that becuase of the reduced recoil that it would take one less action point to fire it than the standard Desert Eagle. It was going to be one of those upgrades that someone could do.

I'll see if i can find the image

Now i'll go check if fime 1.1 can reduce the number of AC required to fire :P
