Finnish magazine reposts GI screenshots

Hmm.. Wouldn't exactly call that trolling, since the article is false in it's reference anyhow (The reference points to NMA, I guess at the once existent scan of the GI article.) Wikipedia stated that the game was a role-playing game, although the GI article stated it was an Action RPG.
Then you should've changed it to Action RPG and not FPS.

I'll let you give me your warning, however. I promise I won't change the wikipedia site anymore, Dad.
You can change it all you want, just don't come boasting about it here. That's just silly, and childish.

I see that my kind of humor is unappreciated here. I'm glad I could put a little "childish"ness into your life.

Categorizing what I did as boasting is a misconception. I didn't post, "OMG, guys, look at this: <link>. Haha, I'm so 1337!" Also, as far as trolling goes, I can see how some might think that what I did was trolling, but I wasn't trying to get a response from anyone. I was changing the genre to what most properly fits the game, because the game is a FPS. Categorizing it as a RPG of any type, besides maybe a FPS/RPG, is plain bad media. Just because some shit magazine calls it an "Action-RPG" doesn't mean anything. What's a duck-billed platypus? A mammal? Fuck no, it isn't. It's an animal in it's own damn category, although scientists have been apt to put it in a category with mammals.

If I could sum up my last post into two words, here's what you'd get: Lighten Up.

Edit: I get where you guys are coming from. I just wanted to give you the story from my perspective. I'll avoid trolling, and things that can be considered trolling, in the future.

Because the scans originated at NMA.

In a way, it is that easy. But not the way that you think. NMA didn't get screwed solo because it was first, it was screwed solo for being first and negative.

Consider this; most people saw these scans on NMA first. Most NMA readers probably didn't like what they saw, and thus the scans spread out to other site under the primary watch of NMA readers. So excepting people who read us because it makes them feel superior, links to the scans were primarily posted by people noting "I think this sucks" on the first post. That's initial bad impressions for people before they even look at it. That's bad news.

If this weren't the case, they would've put a lot less pressure on it.

Also, anyone who thinks "it was GI, not Bethesda" need a small naivety-o-suction.

Well, I took the liberty of PMing GStaff on the Bethesda forums about it, and got more or less the answer that was to be expected.

Basically, he told me they weren't targeting NMA or anything and the action to be taken about those other sites were up to GI.

I'm not posting the PMs here because I'm still unsure as to the ethics of doing so. Nothing controversial, but I never asked him permission, either.

I don't have all the facts, but if those sites have had the scans for nearly as long as NMA, and if they keep them for days after it's been pointed out, then I'd say something is wrong.

It's just the typical BS b.s.

Stroke the sites that "love you", and ignore the sites that criticize.

And yet again

Galvan there's an embargo on that material until tomorrow, how did the Finish mag got away with posting the pics?

If you got the impression I'm working for said mag or something along those lines, you're wrong ;) I don't know the answer to your question. I guess it has something to do with publishing cycle OR they indeed rushed the screens out a few days early hoping to get away with it.

Also, everyone please note that from the look of it, if the Finnish mag got the exact same screens...does that mean Bethesda simply provides them? Even GI's screens aren't picked but provided?

Freedom of the press yay!

Hi, just wanted to register here to clear a bit about your copyrights confusion.

Generally here in Finland magazines go to the print house 9-15 days before publishing. This is because there's quite a lot of different magazines and not that many print houses so they need to be able to churn out stuff all the time.

Also, as you can see the month is changing tomorrow. Due to the current competitive state of Finnish gaming magazines (there's only two, Pelit and Pelaaja, former being the better in my opinion and it's also more popular while latter publishes rumors as news like "World of Starcraft is coming!" and isn't that professional in their articles in general) they both send out their latest issue to subscribers always when the month changes. Well, seems like our postal service was a bit quick this time around and delivered those magazines before the month changed so instead of delivering the Pelaaja magazine on monday like they should've they delivered it yesterday.

I hope that answers some of your questions. Now I'm going to rant a bit since this is the perfect opportunity for that:

Pelaaja is as a gaming magazine one of those which would sell their grandmother just to get an exclusive article. This is mainly because they're smaller than Pelit which doesn't take bribes for exclusive articles. These bribes are VERY common among gaming magazine publishers all around the world and if you read any of those exclusive stories with thought, you can immediatly notice how there's always 7+ pages, 4 of them being pictures/bullshots and the text itself is just advertising with little to no new content which you didn't already know thanks to the Internet.

Pelaaja also tries to be trendy and "hip" magazine and is aiming itself to some sort of illusive kids who think skateboarding while playing PS2 is cool, white men dunk better and rap battles are a good way to argue. They are doing this somewhat okay-ish, but the problem is that they seem to traded journalism for all that and generally it seems like that if the press version game comes with cheat code sheet, it automatically gets +15 points (on scale 0-100) just because the reviewer could see the ending after entering some essential invulneralibity and infinite ammo codes.

We know about exclusivity deals, and your explanation does clear it up a bit. Pelaaja could be in trouble for it, because it looks like GI's exclusivity deal doesn't stop until this Monday, and earlier releases aren't supposed to exist. Still, nobody probably cares, as evinced by the first post they only care about putting pressure on people that don't like the game.
