First aid and Doctor- Useless?

I mean...it's the best tactical strategy game I can find (other than XCOM which I have played to death)

Try Commandos 2 or Jagged Alliance 2 and then reformulate your opinion.

FOT isn't bad. It's good on its own merits, I suppose. But it sucks big brown donkey balls if you really love FO. And that's a fact. Heck, you can even quote me on that! 8)

IMO Tactics REQUIRES a medic. I bumped Stitch upt to 100+ each quickly but as they were tagged that wasn't hard. With the requesite kit, First Aid was as good or better than Stims and the only drawback would be the eventual "Bandaged" condition, which can easily be fixed with one 'Doctor'in round.

In Tactics, with the INSANE amount of loot it helps to not have to carry a bunch of stims, especially since my main got shot up frequently.

I don't use First Aid or Doctor much in the RPG-Fallouts because (at least in F1, just started F2) Stims "grew on trees and fell from the sky," as the bible describes ammo availability. I never got chem addicted and I'd pop em frequently. I assume the First Aid kit would make the skill much more effective because admittedly the skill heals a pittance without it.

They have their bonuses, but other than tagged skills and lockpick none of my skills ever really go above the 30-40 range.

eh, stims weigh nothing...at least next to nothing...they're allways good to have to, cos' the doctors not allways within range to get to the wounded without having to run through rough crossfire.

You're right - if you're looking for reasons NOT to use the Doctor and First Aid skill every game makes that possible. Tactics includes doctors though, and unless you dump em for another grunt I figure he might as well have 100 in his medical tags and then just keep spending on Small Guns.

In the end though they probably could dump the skills and few would miss them.

Speaking of the merits of FOT, i reinstalled it the other day, and noticed, to some satisfaction, that doctor and first aid are actually useful. heh. but after using first aid too much you get the bandaged stat. i got this away once, by using the doctor skill, right?

you saying you played through FOT without knowing how extremely usefull doctor and first aid is??? BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Better yet: just reload when you get shot in the eye or whatever.

some might find that pretty lame and want to play the game more "hardcore"-style.

My advice, dont play hardcore. Save as often as you can.
I used to play Tactics on Toughboy difficulty.. Id get 1/3 more experience but could not save during a misson.

When my computer started hanging up on my way to the bunker (where I could save) when I had completed a mission I just gave up the whole thing. Fallout tactics is fun the first couple a times but then it gets painfully boring.
Saving often should be done by everyone, and all games should have autosave at least every second. But I do agree somewhat, reloading just because you get shot or crippled is a bad thing.

you should maybe read the posts better, this wasnt about FO TicTacs and you didnt get the general concept of what i said

your post and opinion might be valid but your quote is completly out of context
