First images from Titan

Mildly Dipped
It's been a few hours since the Huygens landed, you can read about the latest updates and view the first images at the official ESA and NASA sites.

Here is the first colour image from Titan's surface.

If it reaches the shoreline, I wonder if one of those lobster monsters from the Drawing of the Three will waddle out and tear it apart.

Damnit someone got to make a sci-fi joke before I did.

Speaking un-seriously I must say Im half-disappointed there isnt some alien life form trying to rend it to peices or at least walking up and poking it then defacating on it.

Really though Im very glad. Not only to see some scientific work, but of such astounding magnitude. A moon of Saturn...

Thanks a lot Corpse. I had actually forgotten about the landing.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Theres sounds from Titan there to download and have you listened to the descent radar?
I thought that was really cool even tho it sounds like something from a commodore64 racing game.

Sorry for not seeing that in the first moment, but I was replying to the guy who reposted the NASA link for no obvious reason.

Since this is an ESA probe on an ESA mission you are more likely to get relevant stuff from the ESA website rather than waiting for NASA to repost it.

The link I gave is to JPL and is different from the original NASA link.

It's still NASA, so who cares? If the EU was launching a campaign would you rather visit the UN website or the EU one?

EDIT:

Meh, I'm just pissed because our Mars lander crashed so ridiculously.

EDIT2:

Y'see, being German and not liking soccer there aren't many vents for my national pride, so I can only nag about political issues or invade Poland -- and I don't like travelling eastwards that much.

Pictures are pictures. You're right, if I wanted to know detail after detail about the Titan probe I probably would go to the european website. However, unless the yuks at NASA superimposed a Bigfoot onto the photos, I don't see the problem.

There's no problem at all, I presume.
Unless Ashmo calls himself a socialist he hates American governmental institutions

Yeah, great pictures, new wallpaper I think.
An the sound is... well... sounds like somebody put a cell phone next to the equalizer of my stereo  .

You know Maddox hates it when you hotlink his pics without his consent.
