Lived Through the Heat Death
F:GAB has passed word on a Max Payne total conversion called Fallout Guns and Bullets. They now have a site here, that will soon change to a new address.
Some of the features they want to implement are as follows:

- Familiar places seen in Fallout 1 & 2.
- Many guns from Fallout 1 & 2.
- Melee combat.
- Characters from Fallout 1 & 2, for example Harold.
- Different endings.
- New HUD and Menu bacrounds
- Post Apocalyptic music, including "Maybe " by Inkspot and "A Kiss To Build Dream On" by Louis Amstrong.
- Shopping, you can buy more stronger weapons and more ammunation if you can afford it.

Looking interesting so far, thanks F:GAB

i'm glad they are so enthusiastic, and their modding skills are indeed impressive, but i must admit - i hate the idea of a Fallout action game. mindless shooting action simply doesn't fit into world of Fallout, which revolves around adventure, communication, helping others so they can help you, using any means possible to survive and accomplish your goals. this is completely contrary to an action shooter in which the only means, the only solution, the only answer to every situation are bullets. i think it would be a lot better idea to make a Fallout mod for Arcanum or Lionheart (which use the same roleplaying system) or even for Morrowind or Neverwinter Nights. so even though the amount effort put into this conversion of Max Payne is admirable, i must say i don't support it. :(

hey, I know the idea isn't too much appealing... Not for me though... i finished Max Payne 7 times on most diffucult level, and I would like to it on more time playing it with ALien Blaster... uh... there will be Alien blaster there, right? :)

On the contrary. Post-nuclear pulp fiction involves a lot of shooting and square-jawed protagonists. Moreover, during your adventures in first "Fallout", you read stories about violent shootouts between various groups of survivors in the early days after the War.

Most 'hardcore' fans for no good reason automaticaly assume Fallout FPS will be 'Serious Sam' with muties. My primary concern here is for the visual design. FOBOS, for example, is going for cyber-punk future-trash action as opposed to Mad-Max gritty and visceral style. I would more than enjoy a good first-person shooter set in Fallout universe, if it managed to capture the essence of 'Fallout' and 'Mad-Max action'.

Holy (...), you finished it on the toughest level? I never could, shooting through the level was easy enough, but I'm a fanatic saver, I saved more than I shot, and with the savegame limitation there was no way I could do it.

Bah, savegame limitations.

Mod looking good, though, it'd be great to whip out the Payne again.

seven times  i was competing with my brother, his chick nearly dumped him because of it... she blamed me for giving him the game... gee, was it really my fault? :D

dude, that's great! i used to be a fanatic saver as well! i finished Crusaders of M&M without using a single healing potion! i stopped saving so much after intensely playing Operation Flashpoint and Mafia - both games only have autosaves. :D

Mafia only has autosave?

Interest...waning...must...keep...interest.

You should have seen my statistics at the end of a level of Soldier of Fortune.

well it has things what ratty mentioned:

- communication
- helping others and get some help back
- and if you have no other option to go further on your guest you use every means necesary and blast you way out/in.

And there is places where it's better to advance whitout shooting than killing everybody.

well, if you manage to implement this adventureous approach (quests, communication etc.) i'll be really impressed. the game won't be exactly Fallout, but it'll definitely be better than Max Payne. :)
