FOnline: 2238 announced

Well I'm satisfied for now. Lag is killing me but I got one character who is unarmed crafter to almost lvl 3 and another stealth guy to almost lvl2. Some guy attacked my crafter with a gun in Klamath but I beat him to a pulp. He has some nice things on him :) That should teach him a lesson :)

Well have fun people. See you after the good night/day sleep.

Few problems I thought I'd point out that need fixing.

1. It took me 10 tries to get to Redding from the respawn point without dying. Because of the unimaginably ridiculously hard random encounters.

2. When i did get to Redding, some ass in a leather jacket shot me before the screen even loaded. This same thing happens with some random encounters.

3. If there's going to be a disfunctional banking system where it doesn't let you deposit money. Please disable people from buying an account an effectively wasting 100 caps at the very beginning until it is interpreted.

4. I do not understand how people were running around with Metal Armor and Combat Shotguns 30 minutes into it. (And I was one of the first to actually get in). This stuff should be made harder to get.

5. Not being able to leave through exit grids in combat.

6. The massive lag. Everyone gets the lag, not just one person in particular.

7. I do not suck at Fallout, so all of these points are valid.

Anyway. The real reason I made this post was for this:
screen_16-08-2009_02-29-30.png

In the Redding Kokoweef Mine area. Just thought I'd report it to ya.

I'm not bitching by the way. I know this is early stages of development but some of these things (especially the encounters) have to be changed for the final release.

Also:

8. See that 'Poisoned' in the top left of the picture? That never goes away, ever. That is from my very first (of about 100) random encounters and I've died several times so I don't understand why I'm still poisoned.

this is really not how i hoped the game would be at all...
Remember man, it's only an early beta. I trust that the final version will be everything you expected. :D

Just another suggestion to the guys:

Can we have the running options from the preferences in the FOnline Config? Like: Always Run, Always Walk and Auto (which it is now). As I'm used to always run and don't like to double click to run from encounters. :?

I managed to escape most of them Just run on the start, don't wait. Not one death in encounters thus far.

Go to some other town. Den and Klamath are near.

My idea was to make it free, but we agreed on some small sum for it. Could be reduced later (maybe to 50$ or 25%).

A few bugs with banks and slot machines. Fixing.

Both - lag. Buy us a new server :D

Drink an antidote. Or wait, but it can take some time...

how are you people getting such good stuff?!

i can hardly live hor 2 seconds and i just saw a guy in ENCLAVE ARMOR! how are people doing all this?

I got a nice haul of equipment then some asshole guards gang raped me.

finding equipment is just pure luck. (not the skill, right place at the right time kinda thing)

After the hours of wait, I have to say this first evening has been thoroughly unenjoyable. Already some people have killed a ton of Klamanth and Den and kick anyone not in his gang out by force. For any kind of newbie, how the hell are you supposed to even play since they wouldn't even let me shovel crap?

and if i run when someone attacks me its like they pull me back with a magnet no matter how far away i am

hey dude, i have a question concerning dying in random encounters, do you guys gonna introduce flagging of corpses in near future, because its li'l bit frustration loosing all of your stuff after been ported in the middle of a horde of ghouls which shoot at first sight...?

Wow....the Den was a complete and total nightmare.
Tons of players everywhere ,everyone robbing and killing and looting.
Couldn't trust anyone.

It was lovely!

My West Side Piru gang members learned really quick that in order to survive the harsh streets of the Den, you need family and unity.

Who is the gang ran buy the guy wearing leather?

I saw him with about 9 members and he was just dropping rifles and ammo to them like it wasnt nothing, within the first hour of gameplay.

They looked like a very organized group.

Its official the West Side Piru Gang was born within the second hour of the game opening.
We are a close knit group of players who just wanna survive these harsh wastelands and players. For right we claim the streets on West Side of the Den.

I need all my West Side Piru members irc names or contact info.

If anyone would like to join contact me IRC channel #WSP.

I ran into them too, In Modoc.
They were kicking all the newbies out of shops so the leather guy could do business. Then they killed all of us for no reason, funny thing is, it's like they did it in unison and were acting like proper guards too.

Pure roleplay, I loved it even though I died from it  (I had nothing at the time due to people ganking me anyway).

He seems like king of the wasteland right now. I can't wait for the FOnline: 2238 devs to start playing and see how hard it really is.

Do you still start with just a radio?

I'm not gonna start for a while, the overwhelming complaint does seem to be that the game is kind of unplayable.

I get the impression the devs were too scared of making the game too easy, making it too difficult for everyone. As I've always said, making the game easier on beginners isn't ruining it - it's making it playable.

A lot of people are ragequitting, or just making restarting to make an unarmed build.

Here's hoping things have picked up by release. Whenever that is.

Now don't get me wrong, I love the game, but a few things I found annoying.

#1: Nowhere, and I mean nowhere, does it tell you that CH is required to run a group, which proved to be VERY annoying.

#2: MANY bugged NPCs running up to guards and dying for no apparent reason, such as in NCR.

#3: The only efficient way to get loot is to get lucky and get an encounter where you can reap the benefits (i.e ranger vs. bandits)

Still, the game is fun as hell, and I hope people realize that not only is this in beta, but its ran by independent, non funded developers who have their own lives and jobs.

Seriously, the game is fun, its day 1, deal with it.
