FOnline second open test 29th of November

Well, it seems that I missed quite a lot. Is the 29th test going for one day only? Any details on how many hours?

Could someone at least tell us what version of fallout 2 needs to be installed ? Will a UK version patched with the latest restoration patch work ?

It doesn't matter which version your Fallout 2 is: The only resources the FOnline client makes use of are the files master.dat and critter.dat.

Not 100% correct. It is important that all gore animations are available. So as example, user with a german Fallout 2 version need to patch the critter.dat first or it can make problems.

This time, the Unity will be bigger than never before.
We will rename the Wasteland Unityland...

Haha I'll have advantage, I speak both langs =P
Or, mabye you will be hunted by both?

But let's not go into cold war, how do write : "I come in peace, Comrad" ?

to patch the critter.dat first or it can make problems.

The children patch is very important for the european version. If you don't want to get killed by an unvisible child, that is...

The childrens will be includet. So it is only important to have the other gore animations.

Since I've missed the first "Unity session" several months ago, I think I'll enjoy this one more than ever. Only a few hours left.

A double agent or a mole?

The client will be released tomorrow in evening. :) I don't know the exact time, but you can say.. uh.. russian time in the evening.

Well, that depends if it's Moscow time or Vladivostok time :P, I mean, they're both in Russia.

Anyway, how long will the test last?

Can't wait! It's a pity I won't have all the time I wanted to enjoy this, although I think I'll get a break somewhere in early december (something about some 'Social Forum' or something) before the exams resume. I hope the tests takes longer this time.

Hey Gray! Can you pass me our future radio password though a PM? Glory to the Unity! I think I'll get some brazilian recruits or at least allies (IE people that won't shot at us because they know me) in Vault BR, they had some interest in the test but few played. We need some russians with knowlodge of both languages, So we can insult them before we fire several 10mm rounds in their face- SCRATCH THAT (how you put a line though the text in the forum? I don't know), I mean, I was talking about making peace deals with our comrade neighboors, the russians!

Some questions for the team:

1º Are we going to find more ammo? I remember ammo was so scarce that it looked like Mad Max sometimes. Are we going to see more ammo going around? I remember that, in the first test, gun skills were kinda secondary.

2º So, were the other towns improved? I remember only The Den and part of Klamath had any content. I would love to go to Reno and work for the crime lords or take a caravan from Redding to NCR and maybe even fight some players in the way.

3º Are intelectual skills and atributes (like speech, intelligence and charisma) going to be improved?

4º Does a non-PK zone for those seeking refuge exist? I remember the distant cities were the closest thing to that while The Den was full of Player Killer chaos, mayhem and death. I liked the atmosphere.

5º Are we going to see someplace to stash our stuff safely or at least RELATIVELY safe (say, making lockpickers able to lock their doors would be interesting, so a high-skilled could put a strong lock on a door, that would be a lot of help)?

Hey, stuff stashing would make for one helluva job system (at least for a while): You could have a group of players like a small guild or something that are paid to watch over other people's stuff, like a bank of sorts. It would make for some really interesting raiding activities.

I think, I can answer most of the questions.

Yes. The traders are filled up faster and with more stuff. Also there are some other sources for ammo.

A little bit nearly every town. But not as big as the Den. Now there are also less "sorry"-towns.

Only for talking with some NPCs. Speech and barter is more important now and barter for itself.. yes, really important, because you get lots of stuff with a cheaper price and can sell stuff for a much better price. Also you barter-time will be highered... what this means.. you will see it this evening.

No. There are no non-PK zones and there will never be any. But the start position has been improved. Also if you die you won't restart at the same position every time.

Well, you still have cars if you can get one. Also you can save your items now in the towns for money. It works like a bank system. You talk to the NPC and give him your stuff. If you should die, it is still there.

"You talk to the NPC and give him your stuff. If you should die, it is still there."

The real question is what happens when the NPC dies. :P

Damn, it`s almost bed time and still no client is avaiable.
