Forsaken Fortress is a very interesting post-apocalyptic survival-focused RPG currently running a Kickstarter. It has been running for a while, now has 11 days left and nearing 50% funding. Let's hope a bit of a coverage push can lift it over, because it looks very worthwhile.<blockquote>Unlike many other existing post-apocalyptic RPGs, Forsaken Fortress emphasizes simulation features such as base building, character personality/interaction, and resource collection. You will need to lead a group of survivors to construct your base and maintain its basic functions, such as electricity generation or food storage. Meanwhile, you will ensure the base's security by building defenses and setting traps. You will also need to lead your expedition team to the wasteland to gather supplies and to work on missions, balancing their professional skills in order to maximize their effectiveness. Characters in Forsaken Fortress are highly dynamic in their behavior. They have needs, goals and personalities which will influence their daily life and decision making. Some of them may fall in love and some of them may not get along, but all them bring life to the devastated, forsaken world.

"Yesterday we destroyed the earth, today we survived, and tomorrow we will redeem. But where is the destiny of humanity going to end? The rules of survival may drive us to this point again in the future; the same may happen within our own base. Will people still get along when there is no more food? Perhaps the we pose a greater threat to ourselves than the beasts of the wastelands..."</blockquote>

Looks cool indeed. Sounds like a mix of lots of things I enjoy.

Looks like a sandbox game without sandbox mode. :(

Well there is one in the Stretch goals. But it's so far away, that they won't be able to reach it unfortunately.

Tower-Defense-RPG? Sounds interesting.
And it reminds me... *checks up on Dead State*

I haven't seen any Dead State news since so long time.

My thoughts went to what Soldiers of Anarchy could have been.

They seem to be very generous with the rewards though, or is that just me?

Perhaps it's more of a PR campaign than an actual fund-raiser. But then... aren't they all? :D

If anything it's more of a sim mixed with tower defense rather than an RPG but that doesn't mean it can't be a great game. Just not my cup of tea.

Same here.
I'm not fond of "simulation/building" cRPG.
I like the exploration/adventure aspect much more.

I think it's great that PA games are moving in this direction, or it would be great if they did, I should perhaps say.

At least my own "what would I do if shit really hit the fan" day-dreams revolve more around who to team up with, what resources we'd need, where to form a base of sorts, rather than running around aimlessly getting shot at by people time-warped in from an 80s acid trip and killing annoying teens that took the Twilight shit a bit too seriously (okay maybe that). Immershun baby!

It wouldn't even have to be a building type of game. The whole "monsters of the wastelands" thing might be a bit shallow, but I'll take what I can get.

I must be kickstarter fatigued. 6-8 months ago I'd be all over this, now, after having kicked in to at least 10 games, I'm just worn out.

Agree 100%

With the success of Project Eternity and Wasteland we are going to see loads of these kickstarter projects. They all sound awesome but their are way to many to invest in and now is a terrible time of year for people to dispose of their spare income.

uhm... there is a very cool mod for dwarf fortress, set in the fallout universe.

but i'll back this gladly, for the times i'm not in hardcore sim mood
