Note that these aren't exactly my own gameplay screenshots, but I have myself encountered this exact encounter in the game.

    Here: http://imgur.com/a/wh0EV

Note that the weapon depicted is unique - they literally leave one there on the thing along with 400-500 of the ammo like a player-made mod. Not even a single piece of information to justify it.
A UFO crash, and an alien to kill, with a unique weapon to loot. That was the whole encounter. You can't even enter or interact with the crashed UFO - not that I would have wanted to, anyway.

Deal with that, as you will.

It's best that way. I'd rather it be a random easter egg than a fully fledged part of the game. I hate Alien's in Fallout but this is no different than the crashed UFO in Fallout 1.

I assume you haven't done the Cabot questline, then.

I've avoided doing that questline due to hearing it has connections with aliens, to be honest.

My impression is this find is something of a random one is it not? Or is it connected to that questline?

Why the fuck does bethesda think cannon aliens being a important sub-plot of the game is a good idea? What about the already mothership around the earth's orbit?

I think we will see a full scale invasion, This is fucking retarded.

This is not new to Fallout 4. This is a random encounter in Fallout 3 and the Alien Blaster has been in Fallout 1, 2, 3, New Vegas, and 4.

In my opinion, this is not a problem with the writing. It is simply a crashed UFO from where you acquire the alien blaster after finding a single alien pilot that survived. There is no other writing regarding this and it works fine IMO.

In other words: Move on, nothing to see here.

As long as it's an easter egg it's fine but still who knows Bethesda?

I've stopped caring about Aliens in Fallout and whatever other stupid retcons Bethesda makes.

For me Interplay/Obsidian and Bethesda are different Fallout canons. So for all I care, they could have an alien invasion in the next Fallout, but as long as it's set on the East Coast and done by Bethesda, it doesn't bother me much. It's probably a good idea to adopt this attitude, because if I hadn't done it I probably would have suffered a stroke during the Cabot questline.

Yes, this exactly, I ignore it as a fallout game and let it stand on its own, and my, how much happier I have been. Granted, I still mod the aspects I don't like, but, no fuss and no muss, add in the good gameplay mechanics like increasing player damage onto survival mode, makes for deadly, fast paced gameplay, actually typing out the things that the protagonist says, and other odds and ends, heh.

I try to do this as much as possible and that's probably why I enjoyed Fallout 3 as much as I did. But Cabot House writing was just dumb.

And Cabot House wasn't dumb in the same sense that Mothership Zeta was dumb. I enjoyed Mothership Zeta partly because because I did as you said. Cabot House is just plain bad.

As for the original post, it's just an easter egg. There's no attempt at making any sort of canonized writing relating to it. I believe if you listen to the radio at the crash site it plays the X-Files theme music which is a nice touch, but I cannot confirm this.

In New Vegas you only find Aliens if you have the "Wild Wasteland" trait. I think it's safe to assume that all of Bethesda's Fallout games take place with the "Wild Wasteland" slider turned all the way up.

Fan theory here; cryogenic stasis causes minor damage to the sensory centers of the brain, causing hallucinations. The alien blaster is probably just an advanced laser pistol.

The alien blaster is in Fallout 1, 2, 3, New Vegas, AND 4 so I don't think that would be right.

I found this a long time ago. I wish this was the only alien precense in the game... it¿s actually a well done little encounter as you find the crashed ship and follow the blood to a nearby cave.

Too bad they also have the Cabot Quest.... easily one of the worst quests story and structure wise in the whole franchise.

More environmental story telling! A skeleton next to an alien thing!

Also it would be more entertaining if you could somehow speak to the alien for some oddball quest to E.T. phone home.

I do wish it had stayed as a small easter egg/part of the backdrop of the game. I could have done without the quest, or the DLC, that pulled it from a backdrop, which adds just a hint of mystery, to a 'the alens did, those dirty apes'.

    Bah, lol

I thought people where complaing over a minor thing as the crashed space ship.. But when people mentioned the quest i didn't know what they where talking about... Just started the quest and even if i only talked to the guy i have a feeling the complains is valid already :P

I don't mind minor alien stuff but if they add a lot it will ruin it for me.
