France allys with China against Taiwan.

Yay. Let's all masturbate en masse with a flag and the dominant religious cult's book.

Flame the fires of racist hatred, we want total war.

The Prussians helped as much. Hell, maybe we should not have fought Germany because they helped us!!!!!1111 LOL!!!

Wooz......Total War? Against whom?

Against everybodaay! We must Instaure the New American Century, no?

Just kidding.

Got a bit pissed off by national-suprematist posts. In fact, anything that exalts any country pisses me off. As a matter of fact, a similar debate in a heavy-drinking party almost started a fistfight between me and a guy who provoked it, by saying you should love your country above all.:D

Seriously, yes, what France's government is doing is fucked up. Economical Opportunist Asskissing. Poland's new governmental policy.
But from that, to say that *all* Frenchmen are doomed because their government is supporting a communist terror state is a bit excessive. (BTW you forgot Descartes in the first post ;))

I mean, the US supported Pol Pot, speaking of commie terror. Now France is doing the same. Disgusting, but not nescessarily new.

Oh yeah, what's the deal with the F4 Phantom in your av? Some religious figure, St Mark, an obscure byzantine fresco, and now, for something completely different, an F4?

Indeed, especially when his sig praises Poland; Poland is questioning its troop deployment why? Because they feel misled about the threat of WMD. CCR = pure ironic bliss.

And plus, I have no idea what

has to do with this entire discussion. What, were it the Taiwanese who really freed Europe from the Nazi's?

Goes to show how much of a habit rubbing our nose in WWII has become.

Actually, I do...I'm sure we all remember what happened to that king/government.

Yeps. It went bankrupt, partially because of all the money it pumped into the American revolution.

Damn straight, and don't you forget it!

Here's a pic of the shooting. The one good thing to take out of it is that both parties rightly agreed to suspend campaigning until after the election (when before, they were at each other's throats and it was getting dirtier by the day).

I wonder what a forced entry enema feels like from the PRC. Probably not very nice.

BEIJING, March 16 (UPI) -- China and France began five days of joint exercises off the northern Chinese coast Tuesday, prompting Taiwan to claim it was a threatening show of force.

France is also lobbying EU countries to drop the 15-year-old embargo on arms sales to China, imposed after the brutal 1989 suppression of pro-democracy demonstrators, the Financial Times said.

The exercises involve staging search and rescue missions, refueling exercises and tactical helicopter exchanges.

On the diplomatic front, France angered Taiwan recently by strongly condemning President Chen Shui-bian's plan to hold a referendum on missile defense as part of this coming Saturday's election, prompting Taipei to suspend top-level ties with Paris.

Taipei-based defense analyst Andrew Yang played down the significance of the exercise's proximity to the Taiwan elections, saying the drills were similar to those conducted recently by the Chinese navy with the fleets of India and Pakistan.

"It does not have direct implications for the situation in Taiwan," said Yang, who said it was more a reflection of China's determination to forge ties with foreign fleets.

Oh goody. Now FN Herstal has another corrupt and repressive Asian regime it can sell weapons to!

The KMT candidate's after- election speech was shameful. He started hinting that the assassination was staged and then that the results were 'unfair'. Now they're demanding a recount. :wtf:

I think Rosh would enjoy watching that. 8)

I agree with Revolver though, that is a very bad hint to be using for the losing team.

It just shows how much of a sore loser you are.

But the case will most likely to be thrown out of the court, so we will see how the other side will handle this.

To give you an example of the dirtiness (and hilarity) of Taiwan politics and especially the KMT here are posters which were on the walls of official KMT headquarters, slandering President Chen Shui Bian (or "A-bian").

What Bin Laden is saying in the picture is: "I am terrorist leader bin Laden, and I admire Taiwan's A-bian!"

And then they compare the election to the one in Iraq under Saddam's rule.

"I am Hussein, and you will all do as I say."

It seems like a parody, but sadly, it's real. Taiwan's politicians really do behave like 2nd graders.

Didn't they make a TV aid with Hitler?

Didn't that get canned?

Didn't they get in tons of dodo for it?

Blah??!!  :?:

The guy can be a bit moronic. For some reason, I don't know wth he is trying to say half the time even though he does have a better management team.

The Guo's family supports President Chen though, and that probably speaks for something.

But then again, small countries' elections tend to be nuts because you can be easily affected by the emotional ties.

It's still in court, right? :?

Yeah, I didn't get the pleasure of seeing the Hitler ad before the KMT was forced to pull it- it doesn't seem like they learned their lesson. Lien has absolutely no shame.

It's still in court, and there still protesters outside the Presidential Palace. I don't think they have any chance of changing the election results, thankfully.

Na, I wouldn't be worried about any changes.

I would be more worried about riots and the pathetic riot cops.

I seem to recall reading saying 1/4 of them have long criminal records. While that doesn't mean anything in of itself, there are reports of rioting within the riot police.

I also recall that the "Lunch Party" hosted by the no. 2 son of the Guo family supports Chen, but there is no way to confirm this.

This would be interesting though.

I heard 45% of the referendum ballots were actually voted in support of Chen. That's quite surprising considering the pan blue support of the media.

About the referendum ballots, basically everyone who actually voted in the referendum said yes to both questions, in support of Chen. However the pan-Blue opposition was telling their supporters that the referendum was illegal, and urged everyone not to vote. That, coupled with the fact that they helped make the voting process as non-user friendly as possible, ensured that less than 50 percent (45%) of voters took part in the referendum, invalidating it. Voter confusion was mainly the reason why Chen won and the referendum failed.

My friend noted something interesting.

The pan-green votes have been increasing ever since the last election. That's with the best efforts by the pan-blue camp to discredit them through suppose black gold ties.

He is worried that this may lead to Taiwanese independence. I told him to cool it. He is green since he is the business type, but he continue to fuss over the prospects of the bad results the ind. issue might bring to the business. I don't see Chen as the Emperor type some is trying to paint him as though.

He then brought up the Tri-open connection issue. I don't know where this particular issue is going with Chen's government, so I didn't comment on it. More open, more trade = more profit is his motto. But that's impossible in my pov, because you only need to look at NAFTA to see that. I don't know if I am comfortable with the idea of complete free trade. But that's another story.
