Fraud Email

Broken link Zoe...

Wow, thanks for the link UJ.

I use my email address from my ISP and have gotten a lot of spam through not paying attention to who I give it to, however my ISP has options to automatically block a lot of spam before it even reaches my inbox.....

Still get a lot of Viagra, and prescription meds spam though, because they send from personal addresses and can't be auto blocked.

Funny...

The only thing I use my seven year old hotmail account is for having an MSN Messanger account.

I use my school e-mail account as my main e-mail and have not recieved a single spam mail since I got it. Last year I got a mass e-mail sent out by somebody who took a copy of the Engineering Student's contact info booklet made by the Engineering Society and sent out e-mails to as many people as he could be bothered to type out. It was an advertisement for a keg party, so I didn't really mind getting it.

But that's the only unsolicicated e-mail I've recieved since then.

Hah, funny, I hardly get any spam mail at all

My two Dutch-based e-mail addies are relatively secret, i.e. they're not displayed on a site for bots to pick up

nma-fallout.com addie never showed no spam either...must be because it's broken all the time

E-mail is dying a painful death because of spam, tho'.

I just noticed this thread. Well, I recieved this e-mail that I'm positive is a fraud e-mail just a few days ago. I recieved it on my school account, no less!

From: Mrs.Ruth Newman

PLEASE ENDEAVOUR TO USE IT FOR THE CHILDREN OF GOD. I am the above named person from Malaysia but now undergoing medical treatment.I ammarried to Dr. George Newman who worked with Malaysian embassy in South Africa for nine years before he died in the year 2000. We were married for eleven years without a child. He died after a brief illness that lasted for only four days. Before his death we were both born again Christians.Since his death I decided not to re-marry or get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is against. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of$50.1Million (Fifty Million one hundred thousand U.S. Dollars) with one finance/security company in Europe.Presently, this money is still with the Security Company.

Recently, my Doctor told me that I would notlast for the next couple of months due to cancer problem.Though what disturbs me most is my stroke.Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to church or better still a christian individual that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct here in. I want a church or individual that will use this to fund churches, orphanages and widows propagating the word of God and to ensure thatthe house of God is maintained. The Bible made us to understand that Blessed is the hand that giveth.I took this decision because I don’t have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not Christians and I don’t want my husband’s hard earned money to be misused by unbelievers. I don’t want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly manner, hence the reason for taking this bold decision. I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going.

I know that I am going to be in the bossom of the Lord.Exodus 14 VS 14 says that the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace. I don’t need any telephone communication in this regard because of my health, and because of the presence of my husband’s relatives around me always. I don’t want them to know about this development. With God all things are possible. As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the Finance/Security Company Europe. I will also issue a letter of authority to the security company, that will empower you as the original- beneficiary of this fund, and as such you will act in full capacity to any deed of instrument as regards to the deposited fund.I want you and the church to always pray for me because the lord is my shephard. My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and truth. Please always be prayerful all through yourlife.Any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing for a church or christian individual for this same purpose. Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I stated herein.

Hoping to hear from you a.s.a.p.I would be most delighted to hear from you. Please respond to ruth13_newman@uymail.com

Remain blessed in the name of the Lord.

Yours in Christ,
Mrs Ruth Newman.

Also, note that my e-mail address is NOT bmetsu@123.com , which is the address that this e-mail was sent to. Go figure.

I have gotten one of these Nigerian scam emails about every month for the last couple years. Once I played them and told them I was CEO of a company called FBI. I then gave them my phone number and address - actually the local FBI office numbers. So he said he kept calling them and then sent a package by DHL to the address. I tracked it and it actually got there! I thought the FBI guys might have some fun with it. Every once in awhile I reply to one with a picture of goatse or animal sex. Fun for a laugh or two.

You don't specifically need to use a Hotmail address for MSN. I use my Yahoo! address, and it works fine.

I wouldn't exactly call my hotmail account "active", as I'll probably have to re-register it if I wanted to (god forbid) use it again.

But MSN Messanger works perfectly fine with it, and I no longer get those annoying "You have 250 unread messages" when I log in.

The only annoying thing about spam mail is that it takes up a lot of your storage space, if not all. Anyway, I just empty the bulk section, no hassle, it's just one click... is it THAT GREAT AN EFFORT?
And if you are careful about where you leave your email then you will not have any of these problems.
Besides, the net, very much like the real world, is a jungle! And usually these scams tend to affect greedy and stupid persons, I mean does anyone here still belive in Santa? That letter is for grown-ups like Santa is to children, a nice concept to a certain point, but a disappointment from there on!

I remember my old hotmail account before hotmail started charging for space.
I had like 4k mails all of them junk.

Friendly warning, if you sign up for ONE porn mail soon all of them are gonna have your mail and so it starts, the beginning of the end of your mailbox.

I remember Hotmail BEFORE IT WAS BOUGHT OUT BY MICROSOFT!

Back in the day it was actually a good free e-mail account. But then the devil took over and it all went downhill from there.

I don't think it was my fault that I started getting the spam influx.

Meh, it was ok, but deteriorated fast.

f2s.com and that other one...the one offered by some credit card service...amexmail.com were much better

Yahoo! is a lot better.

I've only gotten three spam e-mails in almost three years - and they were last year.

Three is still too much for my tastes.

Like I've said, my school account is perfect for me as I can access it anywhere, have a free 15 mb account, and be spam-free without any hassles.

Why go back to the generic e-mails?

WOOOHOO!!! I got yet another scam mail in my supposedly secure university mail account. This time, though, I think I'll respond and mess with the guy! hahhaha...check out this one:

Dear respectful one,

I have a proposal for you-this however is not mandatory nor will I in any manner compel you to honor against your will. I am Mr. Victor Bakare, 26years old and the only Son of my late parents Mr. and Mrs.Bakare. My father was a highly reputable business magnet-(a cocoa merchant) who operated in the capital of Ivory Coast during his days.

It is sad to say that he passed away mysteriously in France during one of his business trips abroad year
12th.Febuary 2003.Though his sudden death was linked or rather suspected to have been masterminded by an
uncle of his who traveled with him at that time. But God knows the truth! My mother died when I was just 4 years old, and since then my father took me so special. Before his death on February 12 2003 he called the secretary who accompanied him to the hospital and told her that he had a sum of $8,500,000 US DOLLARS (EIGHT MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND UNITED STATES DOLLARS) kept in a security company in DUBAI ? (UNITED ARAB EMIRATES) He also said that the security company does not know the content of the safe Box. He declared it as a family treasure and used my name to Deposit the Box as his first Son for next of kin. He also explained to her that it was because of this wealth that he was poisoned by his business associates, That I should seek for a foreign partner in a country of my choice where I will transfer this money to and use it for investment purposes.

I want you to assist me in clearing this box from the security company and then transferring the fund inside the box into your account overseas as a beneficiary of the fund, and also use it for an investment purpose. I am just 26years old and a university undergraduate and really don't know what to do. Now I want an account
overseas where I can transfer these funds. This is because I have suffered a lot of set backs as a result
of incessant political crisis here in Ivory coast. The death of my father actually brought sorrow to my life.
Dearest one, I am in a sincere desire of your humble assistance in this regards your suggestions and ideas will be highly regarded.

Now permit me to ask these few questions:-
1. Can you honestly help me as part your family?
2. Can I completely trust you?
3. What percentage of the total amount in question
will be good for you after the money is in your
account?
Please consider this and get back to me as soon as possible.

Thank you so much.

My sincere regards,

Victor Bakare.

In one day, my ExtremeDrinker email address gets 400+ spam. I deleted that account, and with the other 5 accounts I've still got, I average one spam mail every 3 days. I never used my personal email address to sign up for anything except DAC...And Here, I guess. I blam Spam on DAC and NMA.

Alright, so this is the reply I sent to the e-mail. Its so bullshittingly good:
Dear Mister Bakare,

I am very sorry for your terrible loss. I can relate to your position. I have recently lost members of my own family. But when God deems it your time, I guess there is nothing one can do. I am a deeply religious man and believe in the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Therefore, Mister Bakare, I am going to assist you in any way possible. You can completely trust me because I know what it is like to be in your position, and troubled souls such as ours always seek each other out for help and consolation. I believe that is one of God's mysterious ways. I would only ask approximately 10%, just to cover whatever costs I would have to expend. I believe that I can truly help you in your sorrowful situation. Please respond soon so that I may start the arrangements.

Yours in God
Thomas.

Oh yeah, and I also went to the website http://www.z6.com , which the e-mail address of this guy. At the bottom it says
WARNING Regarding z6 email : If you receive any email from a z6 email account holder requesting you to send money please follow this link first http://directory.google.com/Top/Society/Issues/Fraud/Internet/ As with yahoo, hotmail and others, z6.com cannot investigate and delete every email address soliciting fraud it is so easy to set another account up strait afterwards. Expecting your urgent response as soon as possible.

May God bless you and your family for your concern.

Yours Sincerely,

Victor Bakare.

To which I responded:

Dear Mr. Bakare,

It is a pleasure to hear from you so soon. My family is doing wonderful, thank you for asking. How is yours? I am very excited to be able to help you. Doing God's work is something I view very highly. I spoke to my local bank, and they are all ready to set up an account for which we can transfer the money. They also suggested I speak to the FBI or possibly the CIA so that they may protect our account from theft. Do you think this is a good idea? Also, you mentioned that I meet you in Dubai. That sounds like a wonderful trip. Can you describe for me what our meeting would be like? It would be such a pleasure to meet you. I cannot wait! Perhaps you can send a picture of yourself. That way I can look upon it before I go to sleep at night, and God will send me messages in my dreams about how to help you. Please send back any directions for what you would like me to do.

Yours in God,
Thomas
