Fun Character Concepts

What makes your FO so "SPECIAL"?

When I play Fallout and Fallout 2 I always choose for high agility, strength and perception, While keeping my luck, charm and (to a lesser amount) endurance and intelligence at a low rate.

My question is how all you other FO-lovers put your "SPECIAL" abilities to use.

Has anyone ever tried playing as the Ash character from Army of Darkness?

I have, and found it to be a serious Role-Playing experience.

Take one-hander as a trait (because he uses the sawed-off shotgun and the chainsaw, as well as the power fist)

Tag melee weapons (given his skill with the chainsaw)
maybe tag unarmed
Tag speech (he rallies people)
Small guns can be brought up to 95 with books, he's only going to be shooting people at close range

Possibly take fast shot as a trait, since he just sort of blows people away without aiming much

I actually gave him fairly low charisma, since he alienates people so often.

It was interesting to play a low-charisma, high-speech character.

Naturally, he's a jackass, and you are forced to pick the arrogant and condescending dialog options with him. You piss people off, and it's hard to be a good guy, which he is, reluctantly.

Stupid characters are played frequently, so it might be interesting to try lowering other stats to 1. Low charisma makes for a loner character, which isn't much of a drawback. Low endurance won't give you many hit points, but that won't be too big a deal if you stay out of fights early on. Low luck means you won't get any critical hits unless you make aimed shots and more critical failures, but again, this isn't much of a challenge.

Low perception gets a bit more interesting. You'll probably miss some quests, and ranged weapons will be hard to use without a high skill level. An agility of 1 gives you only 5 AP, which should be a challenge. No big guns, no aimed shots with most small guns, only one attack per round, can't fire and move in the same round (only a hex or two if using melee weapons).

Playing with a strength of 1 might be one of the hardest challenges, limited to carrying 50 pounds of equipment for most of the game. All non-unarmed type weapons will have severe penalties for not being strong enough to use them. Grenades can barely be thrown far enough to not get you caught in the blast radius. Fortunately, this is enough strength to pick up power armor - if you drop everything else. Also having a charisma of 1, so no NPCs to carry stuff, will be extremely difficult. At least all your other stats will be great.

my favorite character so far:

Svlad Gely

-Stats: Fair ST, Good PE, Fair EN, Great CH, Great IN, Very Good AG, Heroic LK.

-Traits: Gifted, Jinxed.

-Tags: Speech, Science, Lockpick, later with tag! Energy weapons

This guy's goal is to do all the quests, get all the special encounters, and gather all the money in the game.

With this character i had the most hilarious experience in fallout 2:
Becoming a Prizefighter without a single punch. All i did was run around the ring, until the contestants critically missed and knocked themselves down.

I decided to fill all my 10 save slots with specific characters. Since there are many special ways to play a specific character, I found out that 10 slots won't be for me to try them all, so I decided to combine them (for example, making one stupid stealth character that kills everyone instead of making a stupid character, a stealth one and one who kills everyone).

So far, I'm done with 5 of them.

Note: In "Concept" I describe only the main of the character's concept - the small details are included in his detailed description (like I put Skilled on the first character, because I wanted to play a character with this trait; however, it's noted on "Traits" not on "Concept").

Save slot #1:

Concept: Play a stupid character that kills everyone and anything on his way, playing without NPCs and having melee plus ranged weapon skills (to see if knockback/ranged skills are a good synergy; I doubt so anyway, because burst fire is usually better than melee weapon).

Name: Whiplash! Age: 32 Gender: Male

ST: 6 (to get it to 10 with the Power Armor, I am not sure I will get access to the surgery)
PE: 8 (nothing else to spend those points on)
EN: 8 (a player without NPCs needs much health, anyway nothing else to spend those points on)
CH: 1 (you don't need much CH in a stupid game)
IN: 1 (my IN has to be 3 or less; also, I wanted to play an IN 1 character)
AG: 8 (high agility is important for any combat character)
LK: 8 (becomes 10 with the zeta scan, perfect for sniper(and slayer, if it makes a roll for the critical))

Tags:
Small Guns (obviously the strongest ranged weapon skill in the game)
Melee Weapons (to get super sledge, required for the concept)
Repair (get it to 103-104 to install the Fuel Cell Controler and Regulator to your car after you kill Smitty, the only way to get the car in a stupid game without using Mentats)

Traits:
Bloody Mess (obviously just for the fun, kinda fits a character that kills everyone)
Skilled (I wanted to play a character with the Skilled trait and it fits this one most, since he has very little skill points per level)

At the beginning it's hard, you'll even have to barter some. But after you get strong enough I think it gets easy enough. Kill Flick at the Den and with enough stimpaks you will be able to kill the slavers. Pick battle perks. Setting his IN to 2 or 3 and/or removing Skilled will make him much better(but setting it to 4 also will).

Save slot #2:

Concept: An atrociously evil character that makes everything evil possible, without wiping out entire cities (unlike the last character) and avoiding raising your karma at all costs. Have Myron on my team.

Name: Slayer Age:31 Gender: Male

ST: 5 (with Adv. Power Armor and the surgery it becomes 10)
PE: 5 (well...)
EN: 8 (an unarmed character needs much HP)
CH: 4 (to get three NPCs with Magnetic Personality - Vic, Skynet and Myron)
IN: 9 (very good, especially for a Gifted character)
AG: 8 (everyone needs action points...)
LK: 8 (will get 10 with the zeta scan, for Slayer)

Tags:
Unarmed (for the Dragon quests in San Francisco)
Science (get Skynet, best brain (requires about 124))
Lockpick (hmm...)

Traits:
Bloody Mess (so evil!)
Gifted (the best trait in the game)

I haven't played this one yet, I think it should be easy (has Gifted). Skynet gains his first level when you're level 10, so maybe you should want to get him before that (using shortcut). Myron starts leveling at level 6, but you might get him before level 10, because he can level one time less than Skynet and he too levels once at your four levels. These two and Vic are the only non-useless(well, Myron is partly useless...) non-dog NPCs an evil character can have.

Save slot #3:

Concept: A stealth character with Sneak and without NPCs, doing the most things possible in the "stealth way".

Name: 213 Age: 25 Gender: Male

ST: 5 (with surgery and Adv. Power Armor becomes 10)
PE: 7 (I put here the remaining points)
EN: 4 (you don't need much HP for that type of character)
CH: 1 (he won't have NPCs)
IN: 5 (dones't needs much more, he won't rely on dialogs anyway)
AG: 10 (suits that type of character, also he'll need to kill someone in a single turn for the Sneak)
LK: 8 (with the zeta scan it becomes 10, for Slayer)

Tags:
Sneak (the main idea of the whole concept is to try out the Sneak skill)
Melee Weapons (naturally, sneak before someone kill him with a knife)
Throwing (suits the concept, also good for aimed Flare shots)

Traits
One Hander (since daggers will be more used than hammers; Ripper is good enough for endgame)

I haven't started that character, but mainly you'll sneak beheat someone and kill him/her. If you kill someone while in Sneak mode, nobody else will turn hostile.

Save slot #4:

A character that has characteristics (SPECIAL, tags, traits) like me, will do everything like I will and will save/load very VERY rarely; will reload only if killed resulting of some almost impossible critical hit - there is no need to post anything else about this, since it reflects my personalty.

Save slot #5:

Concept: A character that tries to do everything possible at the game, has 5 NPCs and has access to all the damage types (EMP, Electric, Explosive, Fire, Normal, Plasma and Laser) - powerplaying. Play at Easy combat/game difficulty. Experiment a lot about your enemies' resistances. Have a terrible early-game.

Name: Imbaz0r Age: 35 Gender: Male

ST: 4 (that kind of character has no need of ST except for the weapons; with Adv. Power Armor and the str surgery you get 9 str, the weapon with highest str requirement wants just 7, but game will be very tough until you get Power Armor anyway)
PE: 6 (put here all that's left)
EN: 4 (with 5 NPCs you won't need much HP; anyway, EN is not a very good stat; also, you can get Lifegiver)
CH: 8 (to have 5 NPCs - get the fifth one with Magnificent Personality)
IN: 9 (for the skill points and dialog options)
AG: 8 (needed for battle character)
LK: 8 (with the zeta scan it becomes 10, good for Sniper)

Tags: (note that the character's concept requires the usage of all types of damage)

Big Guns (your only source of fire damage, your primary source of explode and normal damage)
Energy Weapons (your only source of laser and electric damage, your primary source of plasma damage)
Throwing (your only source of EMP damage and secondary source of plasma damage)

Traits:

Fast Shot (all the weapons you'll use are benefited by this trait; maybe worth it)
Gifted (probably the most overpowered trait in the game)

Spend a lot of skill points in Science to get Skynet - you should have about 120 until level 9. Early at the game it will be hard, but saving and reloading a lot will make it possible (even easy). The NPCs you should get are Cassidy, Marcus, Sulik, Vic and Skynet. You must level them every time you can - Cassidy must level at 10, 14, 18 and 22; Marcus must level at 12, 15, 18, 21 and 24; Sulik must level at 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18; Vic must level at 5, 9, 13, 17 and 21; Skynet must level at 10, 14, 18, 22 and 26. Save just before you level if some of your NPCs is going to levelup and reload until he levels. For this you should get Skynet before reaching level 10 - this is possible, once managed to do it even at level 4, 5 or so (by gaining as less xp as possible, but getting Vic, Cassidy, Marcus and the car), but then I played character with Science tagged. Do anything to be done, and remember that Karma doesn't plays a huge role in the game - 300 or 1700, there is almost no difference (if there is any at all).
