Gamespot doesn't get it!

Gamespot have posted a "preview" of the title that buried Fallout 3 (Fbos) and they still don't get it:
...With the closure of Black Isle came the cancellation of Fallout 3, so possibly the last game to bear the name will be Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, an action RPG similar to 2001's great Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. We just got the final PS2 and Xbox builds, which are due out a month from today, and though we're still in mourning over the passing of Black Isle, we're comforted by this new game that's playing as expected thus far.
So you're comforted by the title that got alot of good people sacked and a very promising title canned, eh... Stupid fucks!

These are Media Whores, they suck up to the various publishers and producers, or else they would stop getting 'exclusive builds' and such to review. The reviewer probably NEVER played the other Fallout titles. How the hell can you rate something when you are clueless?

Or... they could just be playing Politik 'we're comforted by this new game that's playing as expected thus far.' could mean that it sucks just as bad as we have expected it to, they could be 'comforted' by the fact it will mean the DeathKnell for Interplook.

You might also be put off a bit by the dialogue, which is laced with profanity. As in Dark Alliance, you can speak to certain non-player characters and get quests from them, but for some reason, there always seems to be the option to cuss them out.

Swear words = maturity, right?

Didn't you always have an option to swear at people in FO1 & 2, though? It was like the conversation killer that started combat with the person you were talking to.

Something I find interesting is that they categorized the game as a Roleplaying Game.

Dumbfucks.

No, I'm still going to get it, because I've been waiting for it to fill the niche of a mindless slasher/shooter, but I too am fucking pissed off and sadened by the news of FO3 being cancelled.

Wouldn't be surprised if Intergay is actually in league with those idiots...

Saying fallout fans are comforted with POS is like saying Kurt Kobain is comforted by a shotgun shell.

Well actually... he prolly was... not having to listen to that cunt Courtney anymore.

Comfort...right. The same kind of comfort you get from the guy who raped your wife offering to buy you a beer after he was through.

If I may go ahead and sound like an arrogant asshole for a moment: Anyone who buys FO:BOS doesn't have a right to even regret for a second the cancellation of Fallout 3. There's lots of 'em, but that game is one of the main reasons we won't ever see a proper sequel.

HAHAHA Gamespot are run by an idiots who recive great amount of money to write this bullshit!

comforted?!? righ...

Talk to the fans, STUPID gamespot!!! before you post this bullshit!!!

I am sorry but i think ur being a bit harsh on Kasavin. He's after all one of the most respected and trusted rpg reviewer around. True that i am sadden by the dismissal of Black Isle, but there's also no denying that the signs are all there. It's only a matter of time. Though i was trully excited when project van buren was first announced, i didn't really put much hope into it either to ever see the light of day. After all the powerhouse behind games like fallout 2 which includes, Tim Cain, Feargus, Avelone, and many more, is gone. Lately even Mr. Sawyer quit. Now I dont think it will ever be known the main reason why sawyer left. Its probably because he knew black isle was doom already by that time. What gamespot did was it put black isle back on the map, and put a lot of pressure on interplay in fact, whether they meant it or not to release the rights to the Fallout license. Fallout 3 if you notice is actually posted at the top of all the other games, and i suspect it is somehow gamespot's ploy to inform us gamers about this. In that respect i think gamespot did admirably. To say Mr. Kasavin knows nothing about fallout is unfair to say the least. After all he was the one who revealed the whole fallout series, and he love em. Lets just forgive his niavity, though personally i dont think he is, as he has done more than most of us i would say, in conveying the lost of a great developer. What matters now is not to give up hope and keep the voice going for fallout 3 to be made. I really dont mind if any company would hold the project, just as long as they stay true to the fallout world, and its developers are made out of fanboys like you and me. At last I would like to thanks Black Isle for making such excellent games over the years, and like the former Looking Glass Studio, they deserve much better fate than this.

Most respected rpg reviewer around? heck, I sure never heard of him before but maybe i'm just a dumbass who doesn't like FOBOS even though I should.
Fuck that dude, fuck interplay, fuck chucky, and fuck fobos I say.

Kasavin sees no difference between role-playing and stat-building, and you're going to tell me he's Mr. Premiere RPG Critic?

Anyway, this is the same guy who rescently admitted that the orignal Fallout is his all-time favorite game, and he then went on to educate us all on how the game takes place in the 50s.

What a fucking idiot. Gamespot is a bunch of morons. I hope the final reviews, and reviews in other gaming magazines and sites rip FO POS a new one for the reasons that we know. Dumb ass game.

i think some of you are missing the point

i think some of you are missing the point, but i can understand your bitterness. this fallout 3 thing is perhaps the saddest news i have ever heard in a couple of decades gaming.

the thing is, you see this console fallout game as having killed fallout 3. you may be partially right, but its wrong to assume that gamespot should hate this other game for these political reasons. if they were to evaluate these games on anything other than their merits, then they would be failing in their duty to be impartial reviewers.

now as much as i love complex rpgs and the chances of me buying this console version are extremely slim, i (and all of you) am in the minority. this console title would probably outsell fallout 3 (if it came out) severalfold. so while we can say our taste in games is better, we are in the minority. the vast majority of gamers buy these less sophisticated games and have never even heard of fallout. if this console title is a good example of uts genre and lots of people like it then it is a quality game even if we think it sucks. reviewers have a duty to judge their games as impartially as they judge ours, and not to hate them just because they are a reminder of what we have lost.

also, if you read the articles at gamespot its clear that kasavin actually loves fallout and is aware that it isnt actually set in the 50's, but in a world which has remnants of much 50's culture.

with regards to the choice of producing console games over pc games, i am worried for pc rpgs. the main reason is piracy. console gamers are less sophisticated (and their rpgs suck in my opinion) and are actually much more likely to pay for their games. pc games have much higher rates of piracy, due to several reasons (file-sharing networks, ability to crack games after install, more savvy users, fewer physical barriers to copying) and this means that the complex pc rpg is in danger. these games are a lot more expensive to write for less returns. its no wonder they prefer to make a console version, because its going to make more money - and if you think any company in any industry on earth isnt going to put $$$ up at no 1 priority then you are dreaming.

No you`re missing the point here, BIs was dismantled because Interplay wants to do console games only, and to put resources into FOBOS2. Their creative dumbass director came from Digital Mayhem and has said many time he doesn`t like PC games.

So by saying cheer up we can play the game that killed Fallout3 and please the men that sacked the BIS team the author, wich i had some respect, is basically slaping us in the face, and spiting on the BIS team.

And he`s just sucking up ti get free releases and early material, wich is the oldest trick on gaming media book.

And funny how Fallout3 got to be number1 in requests for informations on their rank, IN ALL GAMES CATEGORY, and i didn`t saw that happening to Fobos...

And on the sales thing, wich sold more copies, Half Life or Halo X-box? Diablo or BGDA?

Do us a favour and don`t put more gasoline in the fire.
