...With the closure of Black Isle came the cancellation of Fallout 3, so possibly the last game to bear the name will be Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, an action RPG similar to 2001's great Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. We just got the final PS2 and Xbox builds, which are due out a month from today, and though we're still in mourning over the passing of Black Isle, we're comforted by this new game that's playing as expected thus far.
So you're comforted by the title that got alot of good people sacked and a very promising title canned, eh... Stupid fucks!
I am sorry but i think ur being a bit harsh on Kasavin. He's after all one of the most respected and trusted rpg reviewer around. True that i am sadden by the dismissal of Black Isle, but there's also no denying that the signs are all there. It's only a matter of time. Though i was trully excited when project van buren was first announced, i didn't really put much hope into it either to ever see the light of day. After all the powerhouse behind games like fallout 2 which includes, Tim Cain, Feargus, Avelone, and many more, is gone. Lately even Mr. Sawyer quit. Now I dont think it will ever be known the main reason why sawyer left. Its probably because he knew black isle was doom already by that time. What gamespot did was it put black isle back on the map, and put a lot of pressure on interplay in fact, whether they meant it or not to release the rights to the Fallout license. Fallout 3 if you notice is actually posted at the top of all the other games, and i suspect it is somehow gamespot's ploy to inform us gamers about this. In that respect i think gamespot did admirably. To say Mr. Kasavin knows nothing about fallout is unfair to say the least. After all he was the one who revealed the whole fallout series, and he love em. Lets just forgive his niavity, though personally i dont think he is, as he has done more than most of us i would say, in conveying the lost of a great developer. What matters now is not to give up hope and keep the voice going for fallout 3 to be made. I really dont mind if any company would hold the project, just as long as they stay true to the fallout world, and its developers are made out of fanboys like you and me. At last I would like to thanks Black Isle for making such excellent games over the years, and like the former Looking Glass Studio, they deserve much better fate than this.
