Gen III synths - why?

So what exactly are your objections to androids in Fallout?

Explain, please.

I think they fit fine given FEV, transhumanism, and prejudice are key themes of Fallout 1.

Cyborgs I'm fine with provided they aren't overdone, artificially created synthetic beings with actual skeletons, muscles and blood and somehow able to feel complex emotions and have thoughts just like humans I don't think fit. There's already enough people in the Fallout world being oppressed and suffering so there's no need to have fake humans with their "Are they people" thing either.

Same with androids really unless it was just one occurrence, say like a special Pre-War experiment or Easter Egg. Robots are clunky and have limited AI, they shouldn't be sapient like ZAX.

Why Gen 3 synths?

I have nothing against them, Harkness is implied to be a genuine living thing, he has sapience, free will, and even bleeds.

What did 4 fuck up with them?

In 3, they explain Harkness is a fucking rare piece of tech, so valuable that they send an old fart and a (gen 2?) synth to find him.

4 overused them, they should have been like...Well, they should have never been explained to the character, they're supposed to damned blend in!

It would have been cool if some characters were randomly set to be 'gen 3's', and the player could only find out in some hard to do way.
