General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I started The Fall, it came free with a PC magazine. I don't know yet if I can get over the atrocious voice acting.

Do you have the very extended edition?
Everything else has gamebreaking bugs I'm afraid.
Games kinda okay. Very linear, but has some fallout moments.

I have the "Reloaded" version which is even more extended than the extended version, I guess.
The voice acting is really, really awful, though. It's so awful it makes the Fallout 3 voice acting look great in comparison. I even considered applying the fanmade English patch that disables the voices but I don't think it's available for the reloaded version.

Hm I can't remember anything bad about the voiceacting, but I never really care about that. Had the german version, maybe thats different from yours?

I'm German, it's a German game. ;) The voices sound very artificial, like somebody just reading his lines.

I've recently re-started NHL09. Best hockey game ever created.

LBP is also still spending a lot of time in my PS3.

On PC I've been playing EU3 and EU: Rome a lot.

I've been fiddling around with LBP.

I'm surprised that I haven't seen anyone use the wobble bolt with some hammers to make walking hammers yet.

It took me 10 minutes to think of it and another 5 to get it working correctly.

I'd like to get into the level making part of LBP, but I don't have the freaking time. Freaking baby!

I'm enjoying the work of others quite a bit though, and trying to get 100% of the items now in the pre-made levels.

My patch is working with Reloaded (1.10), since translation was based on that version.

As for cutting voices: AFAIK/AFAIR patch should do it, since in scripts (that are altered) there are references to audio files and there's no such in Polish version (translation is based on this*) - all voice over has been cut by publisher.

* someone left English comments for each piece of text :o

Cool, I might try that when I actually find time to play. I still have to finish the Witcher.

Interesting. So they made a Polish version but not an English one? Weird marketing strategy.

I think SSE had a lot of problems with releasing The Fall in English speaking territories (tons of bugs maybe?) and game finally ended without English version. That's why I made this patch.

AFAIK versions lower than 1.8 are almost unplayable and first release of the game (1.0) was at beta stage. German players were a beta testers with one exception - they bought damn game! :D

As for the Polish version: it was done by one of the worst publishers in Poland. One of the most pathetic and amateur translation ever. And as I already said: German voice over has been cut and wasn't replaced by Polish one :D

Well, recently Fallout 3. But I'm planning to buy S.T.A.L.K.E.R and BioShock now my new PC should be able to play them. I also plan to play Arcanum and perhaps try Fallout 2 if it doesn't feel too dated. Maybe get GTA IV too if the DRM issues and bugs are sorted and if it'll run on my machine.

Before FO3 I was playing Oblivion, Galactic Civilizations 2 and Hitman Blood Money.

Recently I've finished Dreamfall. I was expecting this to be, in some way, a sequel to 'The Longest Journey' not just in name but also in quality. But in the end it seems like they ditched the entire 'deep involving story, with interesting characters and lots of relevant deep conversations that add to the lore, characters, world and story, combined with well executed problems which could be solved mostly without consulting a walkthrough'.

And instead inserted a half-way finished story, pushed some new lukewarm characters into the story, completely failed at creating challenging puzzles of which most could be solved by using one of either two items you have in your inventory, and the rest by using your mobile. No, this was without a doubt not a good successor to what I consider to be one of the few very good adventure games of a newer age.

Apart from that, I've been trying to like Fallout 3. But I just can't get the feeling that I'm anywhere near the intended targeted audience for this game. I don't 'get' exploding heads, especially not when it means that heads disconnect from the body when shot by a 10 mm. I...I just constantly feel alienated by little annoying and condescending things, like 'bobbleheads' that somehow magically add to my stats, and how wearing clothes suddenly makes me a very capable doctor or explosion expert.

Also, I'm trying to play as an inquisitor type character, meaning, I'm always right, and I judge people, either damning them or bringing them my eternal salvation. This brings me to do strange things, like saving Butch'es mom, since she's done nothing wrong as far as I know, but afterwards killing Butch, since I've deemed him evil, a burden to the world and redundant. His mother than reacts completely apathetic to this act of murderous violence, doesn't try to attack me, and nothing, she just sits there.

It's a pretty fun way to play though, as long as you completely disregard all the 'good karma! bad karma!' sounds and visual cues. You've got to let go of the game's judgement. I mean, even if you were a sadist, the game would still judge you 'good'. Saving Butche's mom just so you could kill her son in front of her would still give you more good points than evil. Yeah, right. I'm a veritable flowerchild.

That's one game I've been meaning to play. How is it in terms of gameplay? Is it similar to anything I could have played?

The Iron Grip : Warlord demo. If it were a prettier game, it could compete with Left 4 Dead !

And a bunch of SNES games like :

-Street Racer
-Flashback
-Tiny Toons Busts Loose
-Super R-Type
-Asterix & Obelix
