General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

It wasn't the scariness in itself. It was that I wanted to play an FPS, and it was annoying that some little girl, who "resembled" Samara, kept appearing and stopping the action, and I didn't get to fight people.

I don’t know both games made me jump up in my seat a few times. But something about FEAR just makes me lose interest. I’ve replayed STALKER twice before I decided to try to finish up FEAR.

GalCiv II and Arcanum on my PC, along with Makai Kingdom and Valkyrie Profile 2 on my PS2. Good times.

Really? I thought Stalker was scarier.

Every time someone mentions a scary game i just want to dive back into Call of Cthulhu: Darks Corners of the Earth. One of only a few games ever that has made me jump even though I know a fair chunk about Cthulhu Mythos and what to expect.

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I'm currently playing Fallout 2 (again) and Hitman Blood Money on my PC, and The Darkness on the 360.

The Darkness is really rather good, coming from Starbreeze, the guys who did the Riddick game.
It's got a similar feel to Riddick, including some nice character interaction touches adding minor adventure elements, and the gunplay is fast and lethal.

Part of me wishes I'd waited for the PC version though, as playing FPS games on a gamepad feels stunted and inelegant when compared to the traditional PC FPS mouse and keyboard interface.

Speaking of scary games, System Shock 2 is scary as hell. I've stopped near the end of the fourth level and can't go on. Just... can't. Too much tension for my nerves to handle at once.

Also, I finally forced myself to start playing Wasteland for the first time. I think I'm hooked.

-Sam & Max Episode 1
-Flatout 2 ( I wish I had Ultimate Carnage instead )
-Fallout 1
-Jagged Alliance 2
-Half Life 2 Deathmatch

Man, I love Hitman. In Blood Money, one of the guys you assassinate is based on a former PC Gamer EIC, who beat an Eidos guy in poker.

Edit:

That's got to be one of the coolest game endings ever.

Unreal Tournament (the original).

"DOUBLE KILL!"
"KILLING SPREE!"
"PLAYER ONE IS GODLIKE!"

:D

Lately, just a bit of the old Guild Wars, and the occasional game of any old incarnation of the Footman Frenzy series of custom maps for Warcraft 3.

Quite a bit, depending on my specific mood and inclination:

Darwinia
Fallout 2
Final Fantasy XII
Geneforge
King of Dragon Pass
Overlord (The one I'm playing most right now)
Theme Hospital

I also have Pathologic and Spellforce 2 waiting to be installed as soon as I finish Overlord.

Wooo etc.

I'm finally playing Divine Divinity. It's remarkably similar to Arcanum in many ways, though closer to Diablo than Arcanum is. Someone who thought the prominent Diablo influences in Arcanum were a good thing should love DD. Someone who thought they merely diluted the RPG experience will find DD too light on meaningful quests and non-resource management choices. It has its flaws and bugs but can be pretty gratifying too.

A funny thing I noticed:

Mohrg in 2003]Divine Divinity is a great game! But it is a mixture of Hack and Slash and a good RPG.

Mohrg in 2005]I played Divine Divinity for about 20 minutes, sealed it back up and returned it to Walmart. So take that as you will.

Divine Divinity and its sequel are decent, nothing more.

The games I've played recently? I don't get much alone time anymore to play the greats(Single players), so the list is multiplayer heavy with games my friends and I play:

Mario Kart (64)
Mario Tennis (64)
Worms Armageddon (64)
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (I have a Vampire character that wears a business suit and a face mask. Hardass. PS2)
Titan Quest: Immortal Throne (Multiplayer LAN only. PC)
Rainbow Six: Vegas (Terrorist Hunt with heavy density, yum. PC)
Space Rangers 2 (I'm in love with killing Dominators. PC)

When I go back to school in August, I'll have some alone time with my precious single-player games again.

If by "right now" you mean, at this moment, then Tetris (Flash).

Anyway...
I'm currently working on an Ironman game in Fallout 1, Wasteland Merc 2 w/ Cubik's patch in Fallout 2, and I just reinstalled Arcanum.

Before that, I had tried out Morrowind, after finding a cheap GotY copy at my local Goodwill... Dear lord, I don't know what I was thinking there. That's what made me decide to find my Arcanum CDs, and reinstall.

I tried playing Fallout 2 "Ironman". My brother and I set up two computers right next to eachother and tried to be the first person to $8,000. The only other rule was that you couldn't equip anything better than Combat armor. Hard as hell. Even doing caravans was a recipe for disaster.

Currently I am playing Overlord on the PC, and Civ 4 Warlords, trying to profect my Specialist/Warmongering and having a hell of a time doing it on the "Prince" Difficulty.

GTA:SA instead of finishing FEAR. I just got to the redneck towns and so far CJ is a pawn in a world of villainy and evil men (okay im not starting this up again, sorry :) ).
