As some of you might have spotted, we have put up a Paypal donate button on NMA. Now we know it's tacky but it can help us (NMA) become better, using different software and such on the site (software which costs money).

So if you feel the urge to donate some money to NMA, please do so.
 
Is there any way you can donate money via PayPal when you don't have a credit card? Like through a simple bank statement (overschrijving; boursement in French; dunno the English word) or something... I'd love to donate, but I don't think my bank would let me have a VISA card.
 
Once I get a job, I'll probably start donating $10 from each paycheck or so, I should be able to anyway. I hope that would help. - Colt
 
you need to have either a US or a Canadian bank account in order to transfer money from your bank account. If you want to use a credit card, you'll have to go trough a verification process, which will take about a week or so to complete.

That paypal button seemed awkward at first, but Im glad it's there. The joy I get from this place daily is worth at least 50 cents a day since it takes about that much to buy a newspaper and just as long to read.

You should actually be fine if you sign up for a european paypal account. I think then you can use a european bank account or credit card to send money to other people. I think that requires you to set up a direct debit on your account though. You can use your credit card instantly though - the verification is just so you can send larrrger amount of money (I've donated money to other places perfectly fine without having to verify myself)

It does in the USA and Canada. I can transfer money directly from my bank accout to Paypal, or from Paypal to my bank account.

Silencer, vbulletin has alot better features then phpBB and it's also more secure.
 
Never used it, what are some of the features that we would be interested in.
 
I actually love the layout of the current board but if it will be more secure and less hassle, I'm for a different version system.

Oof, too many to cover. The basic pack includes alot more features then the phpBB does, we're talking more secure, sub forums, buildt in calender, better use of usergroups, better admin section etc..etc...

I don'y buy that, Odin. SHAMO used to run vBulletin, and they had two injects in two weeks time span, effectively forcing Obsydian to abandon vB and switch to IPB 1.3. And in my opinion , they could have just switched to PHPBB as well. I frequent at least 4 phpbb fora and I've never seen any of them 'hacked'. Although maybe the DOS attacks are getting troublesome of late.

Anyway, I don't know squat, I never administered any forum system, so maybe you're right. It's just that I don't buy it.
 
Didn't NMA already move servers a year ago or something?

Plus, would this mean re-registering and all that hassle?
 
Well look into other vBulletin fora Silencer, only because you saw a case things went wrong doesn`t mean one can generalise and say they are all bad.
