Good Turn-Based RPG Games

Brazuca

First time out of the vault
I am looking for some good turn-based RPG games. Any game that has all of those elements and if there is a good one thats online then I want to check it out as well.

I played Fallout 1 to tactics. Jagged Alliance 2, and Odium (Gorky 17).

If anyone mentions Final Fantasy, and I mean anyone, including Rosh, he's downright ostracized.

If you're a D&D fan or not, I recommend Temple of Elemental Evil (by Troika). Very good game. Make sure you patch it before you play it though.

hey wootzie, whats wrong with #1 ?

im not mentioning it i would like it said.

ultima 4-6 are good tb rpgs.

If you were to ask me what the top ten RPG's are ever I would have about 3 or 4 JRPG's and the highest ranked one would be Final Fantasy Tactics. Before you respond let me tell you that the combat is awesome unlike the others and the story is great and not childish in characters or plot.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

i very much enjoyed the Cellphone version of Doom
or Doom RPG as it was called - on a train ride it can be quite good - its not a proper rpg but considering the platform it was ok

'nuff said, Pedro.

I was referring to action in plot not the way they look. Besides that's not anywhere near as bad as most JRPG's.

By the way have you played FFT?

Sincerely,

Aye, he didn't mean the way the characters looked. The plot and character development is decidedly unchildish. The art style is simply that (although the fact that's it's rather anime-ish, like much that Square Enix does, is going to turn off a lot of people around here). The plot and tactical combat are both excellent, in my opinion.

You're post is a little confusing because you site Jagged Allaince which isn't a Turn Based RPG but a turn based Strategy. If you like that game try X-Com, Silent Storm (hard to find), Age of Wonders (fantasy), Heroes of Might and Magic (fantasy).

If you are looking for real RPGs like Fallout... that is much tougher. Arcanum is the only one that comes to mind.

If you are looking for "RPGs" like Final Fantasy, track down Dragon Warrior (NES), Chrono Trigger (SNES), Dragon Warrior Monsters (GBA), Breath of Fire (PS2 or 3 I think).

All of those are "walk around on over head map, run into a monster, give orders" games.

If you want a little more control over what happens to your group try Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, or Final Fantasy Tactics (all GBA).

If you played Fallout tactics in real time also check out Ground Control.
