i have a very strong preference for HL1, and i think HL2 is overhyped.

it's a good game, but i just like HL1+Op:For much better than HL2+episodes.

I hate how they have apparently made HL:OPFOR non cannon. There is nothing inherintly wrong with it, or that goes against the cannonicity of the originals.

I liked it just as much as I liked HL. I would love to see Adrian Shepard make a return.

Agreed. Opposing Force was awesome. And those strange Race X aliens were very scary and misterious. I would like to see Shepard and the Race X aliens again.

HL1 with the "hidef" addons is just about the most perfect game.

Cool movie. I'd prefer something made entirely within the engine, though. With new characters and all. Putting it in real life only highlights how ridiculous the game universe is.

if i recall correctly, the hidef shit made the weapons totally retarded...

an AR15 swapping ammo with a beretta and such nonsense. there's a big fucking difference between a 5.56x45mm and a 9x19mm.

at least they could have use the 9mm stick mags.

C'mon man. It was a high def pack, not the uber realistic pack. They also had rayguns and aliens and such nonsense.

and that's what a lot of people don't get: i loved the rayguns, alien armwasps, etc.

but i get irritated when people try to model real guns, only to utterly fail at using anything logical. you know, there are variants of the AR15 that do shoot 9x19mm, so it's not a problem. they could've made ammo interchange with that... except the magazine looks very different (obviously since the cartridge is much shorter and does not require a curve to feed properly). it looks like a UZI magazine.

but no, they couldn't even be bothered with that. now that annoys the shit out of me. not the alien weapons or even the somewhat absurd crossbow. they were good fun.

i don't have any problems with Adrian's guns... hell, they were better than standard HL1. and the alien weapons he had were fucking great!
(just a pitty that they gave him a dessert beagle)
