I tried browsing through the Mobygames games database. Moby games is made by the same people who made Home of the Underdogs, and is much more complete.

Yeah, but underdogs has games arranged by theme, which can make it a lot easier to find a game than searching by "Action", "Adventure", etc.

YEAH Go underdogs! That site has always been one of the greats for me. Although the site management seems to drift in and out of activity there.

Did the demo come on a magazine's CD? You might be able to get a list of the demos they released.

Also, might it have been Virus? Took place inside your computer, so maybe not.
