High Resolution Patch Running Slow

1magus

First time out of the vault
After installing this patch and the unofficial one and setting the resolution to 1366x768 it started running extremely slow. Now I am running a netbook/laptop hybrid with 1.6Ghz AMD Neo and Radeon 3200 HD graphcs. But IM also running Windows 7
Any suggestions? Also when I set Fallout to 16 bit mode the resolution mod refuses to work kind of odd since the most suggestions I have seen are set to 16 instead of 8 under Vista or 7 lol.

Ok I fixed the problem by removing the direct draw file and switching to 16 bit mode but now in the game I can't click on stuff just the floor, when I try to click anything it gives me a red X on it always.

Put the ddraw.dll back, that's sfall you'll need it.
You cant use 16 bit mode when you have one of sfalls dx9 modes enabled. The dx9 modes can be disabled in the sfall tab on the screen settings window. You may first want to try turning on GPU blitting in the sfall tab as this can provide a speed boost when using the dx9 modes.

U said to use DX9 mode after telling me to disable it to speed things up

R u sure I should put ddraw back because when it was gone not only could I use 16 bit mode without an error it speedup up completely.

Everytime I install sfall on top of 1.3+ it gives me errors. Should I just install 1.2?

It says expecting fallout 2.exe How do I get to a sfall tab in the menu if it won't work?

Alright I'm a little confused, are we talking about fallout1 or fallout2?

Sorry, thought you were talking about fallout2.
The fallout1 version of sfall was abandoned a while back, and the Dx9 modes don't work with the hi-res patch.
If you want to use both mods you will have to manually edit the "ddraw.ini" file it should be in your fallout install directory. Find the Graphics section and set Mode to 0. Alternatively you can safely remove both "ddraw.dll" & "ddraw.ini" to remove sfall entirely.

SO If I set to 0 I can run Fallout @ 1366 x 768 with no slow down?
Also I still can't select stuff in game just enemies.

That's the Hi-res patch!

With Mode set to 0 it should run the same speed as fallout without sfall.

No idea about your selecting stuff problem. It kind of sounds like you aren't changing to the select cursor first(clicking the right mouse button) before pointing at something.

I have tried setting to 4 and 0, 0 was on by default. I have also tried using GPU scaling with Pixel 2.0. Any suggestions, what are you're settings?

Wait a minute I was not selecting the pointer and the high res patch worked just fine with ddraw removed. So why do I need it in the first place if I can get it in high resolution mode?

It sounds like you have it working. As to why you installed sfall in the first place only you can answer that, it also sounds like you installed sfall for fallout2 which would never have worked anyway.
My advice, clear your mind of questions and go play some darn fallout already.

Ok this makes no since, now when I start fallout it says:
Error Not enough free hard disk space. Fallout requires at least 20.0 megabytes of free hard disk space.
