Aye what makes something fallout futuristic? Because I can imagine a 50s writer thinking up something like a P90. A lightweight gun with lots of powerful ammo and strange ergonomics

A strange blend of art-deco, light 80's cyberpunk influences and some 50's retrofuturism

And also part of the problem of modern weapons is that they evoke specific connotations. For me, P90s are the weapon of 00s action movie characters

I want to know why more characters don't use large rocks to bash heads in. Oh right they removed those.

Yeah its weird that instead of grabbing the nearest hefty rock to smash a guy's brains out, they prefer...Punching?

Hell you could grab chunks of uranium in FO2 lol.

Would a...P90 if you changed the name and design a bit

I think as-is, it works fine.

There's no such thing as a "P-90c" which fires 10mm Auto catridges, and can be used one handed.

The only reason i might oppose IRL weapons in fallout is their plastic/polymer appearance which is not making any sense for world like fallout (resource shortage, nuff said). If there is emergency need to include them there should be remodel, closer to dieselpunk like the modern Wolfenstein guns.

You'd be surprised, wood is a 'low grade' material, but some materials like bakelite were used for extremely cheap weapons in history.

Fallout 1 had real world weapons too, like the Mauser C96 and Desert Eagle, but those fit into the setting better.

"Dressed up" versions of otherwise modern guns could've worked really well in Fallout 2.
