How to take Metzger out?

Cool tips about leading them to Lara's gang. The other ways seem a little exploitey. (no one wonders why some douche is running around messing with the locks?) Gonna try this.

Haha that was always on my mind while I was locking the doors "hehe don't mind me :] this sure ain't gonna come back to bite ya'll in a few moments :]"

Locking the doors IS a bit exploity tho, and tbh, I mostly did it to avoid them all scattering into the streets, making me chase them.

If you have companions, definitely use them. Also, with the newest sfall update you can actually control your companions in combat, if that's something you would be interested in. It at least keeps them from firing blindly.

I basically went into Metzger's room, closed the door, locked it. Saved. Pickpocketed his shotgun. Killed him, opened the door, killed everyone of them. This was done early in the game too, the first time I visited the Den, and with the RP.

I usually just come back in combat armor with my crew, using FN FALs, Jackhammers and a Laser Rifle to boot.

No, I don't know the term "overkill."

There are several good ways to kill Metzger, but you ain't got the necessary equipment. The first thing to do is lock all the doors . . .

Here are a few tips:

(1) Go to the Den. Get a SMG; I prefer to do so by having a female character named Buffy and getting lots of presents from Rebecca, but you can do it any way you like. If you don't want a female character, or one named Buffy, Tubby has a SMG about half the time. Kill the sonofabitch and take it, or trade for it. Then walk up to Metzger (behind a locked door), and fire one burst. That should do it.

(2) Get a hunting rifle (also available in the Den). Attack either from Becky's back room, or from the windows of the Slaver's Guild. Using some APs to hide from return fire should allow you to avoid most return shots. This is also possible with the shotgun, though it's more difficult.

However you do it, Psycho maxxes out your damage resistance and gives you an extra action point, so you should use it if you can. The easiest way to kill him, however, is to walk right up to him and burst-fire the sonovabitch. Behind locked doors, as has already been discussed.

The safest way to kill someone that isn't immediately hostile is to use jet. (Obviously don't make the mistake of using it on yourself or your companions). 2 X jet on all opponents before you start and a suitable time delay will reduce their AP to almost nothing. You won't need companions or weapons. You can walk in there on your own and punch them. I think Metzger has 12 allies so you'll need 26 jet when you start to get the job done. If any of them use jet after you've started the attack - leave the area and come back after 10 minutes. Taking into account the bullets and stimpaks saved it's relatively cost-effective as well as risk free.

Now that is really taking advantage of the game engine. Might as well use super stimpacks to kill them in one go.

While stealing the shotgun and locking the doors is borderline "cheaty" I'd still consider it acceptable. I usually freed Sulik, gave him an SMG and the sharpened spear and started by bursting a few clips into Metzger - in a turn or two he'll be dead. In the end I'm several stims poorer and both Sulik and myself are close to dead, but victorious! :wiggle: I'll heal up and step outside to snipe the last few guards outside.

Level-wise I can usually take him out after I've finished Klamath and done a few minor quests inside Den (like scouting out the church and taking care of Tyler - killing Metzger will close those paths anyway)
