I Am in A Parallel Universe or EA admits Buyouts Are Bad

I don't belive it. Just the fact they realise their actions are bad let alone the idea that they may operate differently is...beyond comprehension. I suppose the fact that while C&C Generals whas crap yet C&C 3 is not is proof that they have to some extent realised that if they want to make great games they need to let the developers do as they wish.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Well I guess the realisation that continuous numbered-sequel-making isn't always a good thing is finally catching up with EA, they talk now of allowing developers perhaps a bit more freedom but I am curious if it will truly last.

I ! HAD ! A DREAM !

That Beth will do the same!

P.S. respecta to EA for having the courage to admit to their failures - that's a lot nowadays.

Indeed, I gotta give them mad props for this admission.

Today is a good day for the gaming industry.

Somehow I don't think they're being very serious about this.

This is EA after all, they're probably just saying this to lull us into a false sense of security. Then when we let our guards down...

WHAM!

MERCENARIES XXX, GUEST STARRING JOHN MADDEN!

Poor, poor Westwood, maybe some day you'll be back out there doing your own thing again.

Phyeah... just like Black Isle, Troika and Hitler will be back. Not gonna happen, buddy. Not in this world.

Also, I don't believe a word uttered by EA.
They're scared shitless because of the new giants forming in the industry and instead of doing something about it they just ridicule themselves like this.
Oh, they can talk, but will they act on what they say? No, they'll just continue to release and re-release the same crap again and again till hopefully the industry will collapse. That's the only thing I'm hoping from EA and I fully support them in this act.

Too little, too late...

Quoted for truth

Agreed, I fail to see how the gaming industry will revert back to quality instead of quick sales. Creative games just do not sell to the big public when the general purpose of the games has also shifted towards quick satisfaction. (And by God, I HATE consoles, they are just as responsible for the destruction of creativity as EA is.)
