I got Oblivion

Madbringer, there is a sad thing about your comment. Everyone will eventually have the herps.

last nights Oblivion playing went a bit better, the archery has improved on Morrowind, when you hit someone you actually hit them now.

i had fun running about killing things, sniping people whilst sneaking is probably my favourite thing to do in that game...

the missions however are pretty boring, i had to follow some hunter out to kill mountain lions, would it kill him to at least jog? he just strolled around for ages then stopped in front of one saying "they're somewhere in this area" no freaking shit sherlock

Dude, Oblivion sucks, stop playing it.

Yes, because he's too stupid to decide for himself.

However, if you aren't using any of the mods I suggested, I can't recommend strongly enough that you atleast try one of them out, as they do more then merely adjust level scaling. They enhance the combat as well. Not to mention fix numerous other flaws with Oblivion. Plus, the mod quests are usually more interesting than the ones that the game came with.

I've got bored of Oblivion, apart from with mods, but since the disk is as strached as hell, I can't trade it in.

I think I played through most of what Oblivion had to offer, and there are parts of it that I did enjoy. Sneaking around was pretty fun I thought. The Dark Brotherhood questline was good, the Thieves guild was OK and Mages/Fighters/main quest sucked.

The other quests range from mostly suckage, to a few decent ones (the quest where you enter a painting was pretty neat I thought).

Obviously it's pretty to look at, but the more you play the game the more you start to realize how incredibly flawed it is. I've started a replay a few times, but I can never bring myself more than a few hours into it because I know that the entire world will react exactly the same to me, even though my character is the complete opposite from the one I played through the game with.

Shivering Isles actually had a great initial idea (the realm of madness), but they completely botched the execution of it. It's a very shallow (surprise surprise) view of madness, instead of something genuinely interesting.

Exactly what I was going to say.

I didn't have any of those voice troubles you have with the game. I played it on a 360 though. Did you not apply some patch or something?

Be sure to get the unofficial patch in addition to the official ones. It is as crucial to the game as my patch is to Fallout 2.

oblivion patch thread
what it fixes

Holy bug fixes, batman!

That's like 5000+ changes they've made! Holy crap!
Heh, yep. And this is for a game with no choice and consequence. One can only imagine what the bug list will look like for Fallout 3...

Heh, I have never done any TES modding so it would probably take me some time to get into that. Not sure if I would want to either, but we shall see. Perhaps it is my destiny to make all Fallout games (no matter the origin) as bug free as possible. 8-)

First post in 3 years just to comment.

As soon as i realized the AI scaled to your level, i quit playing then and there and never looked back. Considered re-loading it because i'm bored as hell on super late nights or early weekend mornings, but decided to pick back up in fallout and then started playing Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (9$ @ best buy).

Game sucks, no depth. Good amounts of polish though for a semi abitious title.

I'm off to journey in the magical land of oblivion!

Well, i'm going to play Oblivion now so I can try to appreciate Bethesda more. I figure, maybe If Oblivion is a good game I can forgive them for their most recent game.

*clears throat*

Any advice I should take with me If you are a fallout fan about to go try and play Oblivion for the first time?

Honestly? All Beth-trolling aside, I'd say play Morrowind instead. Despite the graphical inferiority, it's a vastly superior game if you're into that sort of thing.
