yes, yes, YES!!! This looks excellent.

I had completely forgotten about this game, and now it's almost finished. Why, oh why, is it released just when my 2 month christmas break ends?

Crap. Oh well, I guess I can wait a while longer, since I wasn't really waiting for it in the first place.

Yeah he is. Hmmm by now the Bethesda devs that come here might already played the game, since Bethesda is publishing and taking care of the distribution. Anyone want to PM them and get a possible scoop?

Sorry for the double post- but I looked this up at EB Games and they have the following review-

What I like are the system requirements- keeping it simple so that even older computers can run this game.

What I am curious about is how they do the insanity effects.

I wouldn't mind having to use 1920's weapons as long as I get a 1928 Thomson.

I'm personally holding out for a Mauser or a Springfield making an appearance. Bolt-action makes me happy.

I wonder if I can get a prescription for some psychosis-inducing drugs. They would really help enhance the whole Lovecraft feel.

Springfield, Mauser, Thompson- all would be consistent with Call of Cthulhu and figure in the games.

It looks like the game plays on the story of a raid on Innsmouth- which figures in the Lovecraft story Shadow over Innsmouth- from which the game seems to derive it's influence.

But the pen and pencil game has a game book on Innsmouth in which the military raid figures prominently- 1920s marines, secret service, and navy fight Cthulhu monsters.

Looks pretty damn good. Hopefully it'll get the feel of the stories. Running around with a Mauser would definitely be cool. The Thompson would have to be absolutely new though considering the game takes place in 1922.

Ive never read his books, but a friend of mine told me about his writings long ago...I immediately wanted to read some, but alas whenever I get to buy a book there are just too many other's out there.

I have played the pen-and-paper tabletop rpg based on his stuff though and that kicked-ass. If they make the setting right...mood, lighting, and even the hallucinations I just may buy it and never play it as an example of how great the game is. (I would be too scared to play it)

On a side note since its 1920's I hope there's not obligatory rocket launcher.

    Sincerely,
    The Vault Dweller
