Richard heard a faint little scream coming from the inside elevatorshaft. The group that had to bring up Curtis was apparently moving slower than Richard had anticipated or it was already some other group that had already armed their bomb. The scream was clearly female and he couldn't quite picture Inne screaming like that so that left the gypsy and Sam.

Doubt and fear grabbed hold of Richard. He was uncertain what to do. Shooting the beast might draw its attention, but that would endanger everyone as well. Just as Richard decided to shoot anyway and try to save whomever was in trouble, Rob came running around the corner and almost floored Richard in the process. A millisecond later Sam came running around the corner as well and knocked both of em to the ground. Luckily the noise did not attract the beasts attention.

As Sam helped both men back up, Inne and Carib came running around the corner. Both froze at the sight of the beast. Another scream came out of the elevatorshaft, making clear it was the little gypsy girl that was under attack by the beast. Richard was somehow relieved it wasn't Sam, but they had to help her anyway. The practical problem was: HOW?

Carib could barely stop Rob in time from taking a potshot at the beast and said: "Not just yet, we need a plan first."

"The bombs are set but we only have 5 minutes! It's the only way out! So let's shoot our way out!" Rob said clearly frustrated and somewhat scared.

"There is a cave in the room located most to the north, it might lead out, I don't see us having any other option and we don't have the time to look for an alternative. But beware, I already had to shoot a Radscorpion there." Richard quickly explained.

"OK, but first we have to help the girl. Does anybody have any bright ideas?" Sam said.

"How about we try to lure it into a room with two exits and seal it in?" Inne suggested. She was thinking about some huntingtrips where she had used the same tactics, but in a different setting.

"No time to argue, let's do that. Lure it in, close the door, shoot the lock and run like hell." Richard said. It was a sound plan, but was it foolproof? Would the beast cooperate? No time to worry about that...

The group lined up and fired a good amount of bullets into the creatures back. Then quickly retreated, while keeping an eye on what the beasts response would be.

Vedpose struggled to get the raging gecko off of her. She tried using the knife that Zeke had handed her but ended up cutting herself on the arm and across her thigh. Finally she managed to get the gecko off of her and it ran into the near by bushes. Moments passed without anything happening.

Vedpose figure that the gecko had left. She wasn’t going to go find it and kill it that was for sure. Zeke would probably be furious if he knew that she hadn’t shot the gecko early. Yes, she had shot at it, but she had missed it by a few inches on purpose to make seem that she had tried to kill. Why should she kill it? Did it try to kill her? No, it didn’t until she shot at it. She just sat there a moment examining the knife Zeke had given her and her own blood that was fixed upon the blade.

“Well, get to it will ya?”

“Oh yeah, right, sure.” Vedpose was snapped out of her deep thinking mode and back to the present.

Vedpose walked around to the bush where she last saw the gecko, hoping that it had left. It hadn’t. She picked up a rock hoping to scare off the lizard with it. The only problem was that when she looked up it was gone. Ved looked a round and listened. It was to the south her. In fact it was coming up directly behind Zeke. Ved threw the rock and missed a by long shot. She then threw he knife and hit Zeke it the temple with handle. He fell to the ground in a sort of daze as the infuriated gecko moved in to lock its jaws on his arm. Ved drew her 10 mm from her sleeve and shot the gecko dead right before it was on Zeke.

“See I knew you could do it.”

Vedpose just looked at the ground and headed back for town. She had had enough for the day.

Sam gave two or three controlled bursts. They hit the mark making sickening thud sounds as it bypassed the hard flesh.

THis just seemed to be like a mosquito bite compared to real bodily damage.

Man do I wish for a CZ53 Minigun right about now.

She dove for covers as the ttendrils with the suckers came snaking towards her legs. Barely missing the last snatch by a hair.

Roadrunner, hanging from the rope, the creature trying to pull her down.

Dwemer now pulling up Curt as quickly as he could, the danger of the beast like a shot of adrenaline.

Melvin, switching to pull up Roadrunner's rope. "It's no damn good. It won't let go."

Roadrunner, screaming, struggling.

Dwemer, gets Curt up to the landing and pulls him in. Then he grabs for a flare, lights it and yells "Fire in the hole."

Dwemer throws the flare down. Roadrunner kicks away from the wall as the flare falls past her, the creature trying to get another tentacle around her leg.

A blur of red light goes past, down, past her feet, below, down towards the elevator.

And hits the elevator on it's roof. Not into the creature, not into it's maw.

Then a tentacle reaches around and finds the flare, picks it up, carries it down and drops it like a morsel into the creatures mouth.

A fierce scream, howling in the echo of the shaft.

Suddenly Roadrunner is let free. Melvin tugs hard as Roadrunner scampers up the shaft to safety. Dwemer putting his muscles to help her up.

She clammers over the edge, and falls down, sighing, out of breath, her face red with exertion.

Dwemer peaks over the edge.

The creature is gone.

As Vedpose began to turn and walk back for town Zeke's hand planted firmly on her shoulder.

"Where do you think you are going?"

Vedpose looked at Zeke as if the answer was as clear as crystal.

"I am headed back to town to sleep."

Zeke gave a dry chuckle."I don't know where you got that idea, but you have a hide to preserve and we are sleeping in the wild for the next few days."

This apparently was not going to happen for Vedpose, but Zeke just gave her a look and went off to make his bed.

Vedpose probably would not skin the gecko.........Zeke knew that , but she was probably willing to learn to live in the wastes so whatever happened next was of no big importance..............

"hmmm....we need someone as bait to lure the beast into the room........someone fast"said richard

the group looked at rob.

"sigh........ok i'll go"said rob in a uneasy tone

the rest of the group headed off around the corner to the room to set up the trap.

ok so lets see..........i have to lure a big ass beast into a room.....as fast as i can, sounds easy enough

rob slung his rifle over his shoulder and walked over to the beast, he fired a shot into the beast with his pistol, the beast turned around and let out a loud scream, rob quickly ran as fast as he could.

the beast was right behind him and getting closer, the rest of the group was already at the room, richard and sam at one door, inne and carib at the other.Seconds later rob jumped through the door with the beast right behind him, richard and sam closed the door and quickly ran over to carib and inne.

rob then ran caught up with the group.

"shit.....the door wont close"yelled inne

rob quickly bashed the controls in with his rifle just in time to seal the beast inside.

Only precious little time was left as Melvin, Dwemer, Roadrunner and the unconscious Curtis made their way up. Dwemer was slightly worried because he hadn't seen any of the others. Those others had chosen to take their chances in the cave at the north end of the vault, because climbing would probably take too much time. Hopefully it wouldn't be a move they would be made to regret. No firedoors were blocking the fire from getting into the caves, so the fire would have free play once the bombs went off.

When the spread out group reached the cave entrance, a screeching metallic sound filled the vault. The group was now too familiar with this noise, it was the beast breaking through the doors that sealed it in. The group fled into the caves. There they were quickly reminded to keep their guard up by the corpse of the Radscorpion only a few meters into the cave.

Everybody was running with drawn weapons. The lights on their helmets made the caves look grim and spooky. It jumped up and down as they ran, creating weird shadows on bare rock. The cave was now rejoined by an underground stream, creating even scarier images projected on the cavewalls.

"Two hundred and ninety-nine! Three hundred!" Carib yelled at the top of his lungs.

Richard was surprised that Carib apparently had been able to keep track of time. Some of the group did not immediately understand he was referring to seconds past after arming the bombs. 5 minutes had past, the bombs should go off now. A couple of seconds passed and nothing happened... They seemed to last for centuries.

Then a loud rumble filled the cave. The bombs had gone off! The group turned around instinctively and to their surprise found the ugly tentacled beast right behind them! A glow started to fill the caves behind the beast.

"In the water! NOW!" yelled Richard.

The flames quickly engulfed the beast. Its screams were even heard underwater. They really did cut through the bone.

The flames now swept over the water. A layer of fire was deposited on the water. It did not move on like a normal explosion would. Everything would keep on burning for at least 10 minutes Richard knew. The thermite plasma was doing its job. They had now only three choices: going up for air and being burned alive, staying down and drowning, somehow surviving and being boiled alive as the water started to heat up. Richard almost panicked at the thought, but quickly regained his cool as Carib slammed 2 rocks together underwater to draw the groups attention.

Carib was pointing to some kind of underwater passage which had an aery glow. With no other choice the group started swimming, hoping the passage would soon bring them to some place where there was breathable air. The glow of the passage was so astonishing, it seems some underground fungus was lighting up the passage, showing them the way. The group quickly encountered very small fish and crablike creatures. Their form was normal although small, but their bodies were entirely transparent. Richard watched in amazement as he kept on swimming. It was probably the most beautiful thing he had seen in his life in the wasteland.

Under normal circumstances the group would probably have drowned, but given extra adrenaline by the fire and being guided by the marvelous little fish, they reached a small cavern where they could surface. Gasping for air the group climbed out of the water one by one.

"Lets not do that again shall we?" Richard said relieved.

A mushroom of flame climbed up the elevator shaft from the floor below, sucking up the air it could draw with it. The draft of air pulled on the small group on the higher landing, as the fire ball climbed higher into the shaft.

For a moment no one spoke or even breathed. The air, still hot from the passing fireball, felt different. Perhaps it was more precious because they had almost been caught in the inferno. Each of them had felt the heat pass, the sucking of air from their lungs in the backdraft. Each was somewhat singed.

"So baby, now that I practically saved your life, I guess you feel grateful." Said Melvin, "How might you make it right with a little sexual healing?"

Roadrunner laughed and looked at Dwemer. "He's the one that pulled me up."

"Baby, you're a beautiful woman and I'm sure you got a lot of love to share." Said Melvin.

Roadrunner was about to respond but the look on Dwemer stopped her.

Dwemer had gotten up and was looking down at the burnt out elevator shaft. The fireball had drank most of the oxygen of the lower level and had practically burnt itself out.

Dwemer didn't look at them when he said, "They didn't make it back up."

"Maybe we should go back down?" Asked Roadrunner.

Dwemer kept looking down. In his heart he felt that no one could have survived that blast. But he didn't like the idea of leaving them behind.

"How's Curtis?" He asked.

Melvin did a quick look. "Out like a white man who partied to hard with the sisters of attitude."

"Let's get him up to the surface where it's safe, then we can come back down and look for any survivors." Said Dwemer.

With that, the small group quickly made their way back to the TMF camp.

Richard sat there for a while, he had taken off his glasses and his head was resting on his hands. His feet were still hanging in the water. Inne, Carib and Rob had already moved further into the caves. First examination revealed that they were possibly natural caves, maybe one of the reason why the vault was built here. Caves meant less rocks to break out to build a vault, but it would need better foundations. Anyhow, if it were natural caves, it might mean that there was no real exit.

The water was starting to warm up. Soon the marvelous fish and the weird little crabs would be cooked alive, as would the lightemitting fungus. Another set of things, destroyed by humans in quest of survival. What a waste. Sometimes Richard wondered if it would not be best to let nature take the upperhand and leave the human race to rot. They were only capable of destruction anyway...

Caught in his melancholy, Richard felt a gentle hand on his shoulder. He slowly turned to see Sam standing behind him. His sad face slowly changed into a smile.

"It's time to move on, Richie." She said as she offered him a hand.

"Yeah, I know. The water is getting to hot anyway." He said as she helped him up.

Quickly the two rejoined the others. Rob had apparently lost his helmet underwater, but was lighting the way with a flare. He seemed bend on the task of finding a way out of here as soon as possible. His steady pace was almost forced Richard to start running to keep up.

The group ran through caves, encountered dead ends, turned back, started over again. From time to time they encountered rats and small vermin, but most of the time the beasts were scared of them and ran off. Occasionally they had to take out some overly curious rat, but this was done with ease. After passing the same crossing twice Sam noticed something weird.

"Wow, hold up people! Put out your lights." Sam said.

"Why? What is it?" Inne asked while taking off her helmet and the group reformed on Sam.

With all lights off and Robs flare thrown further into the caves a really small beam of natural light was visible. It was almost impossible to notice with the light of the helmets and the flare, but in the dark it was over obvious that it was natural sunlight. Carib walked over to the wall and studied it, but it seemed impossible to dig out without the proper tools.

Just as everybody got their hopes down Rob said: "I kinda took this from Curtis' when he got knocked out cold. A gunrunner likes to keep himself stocked you know." He was holding up 5 sticks of dynamite bound together with a timing mechanism.

"Well I'm glad you did. Lets blow our way out of this shithole. I don't wanna stay here longer then needed." Inne said and Rob quickly placed the explosive.

30 seconds passed and the bomb went off, blowing the rock outwards. The group started walking towards the sunlight when an unidentified voice said "Ow fuck!". A loud crumbling noise followed. The cave was starting to collapse! The group ran out, stumbling, most fell and rolled downhill. The group barely made it out before the cave entirely collapsed.

The world was turning, and turning, and turning for Richard. Rolling down a hill would've been fun, if it hadn't been all rock. He could imagine a nice little patch of long grass, but unfortunately, that was very rare in this wasteland. Richard was brought to an abrupt halt. His head smashed against what seemed to be a metal shack, stating TMF in big letters. He was sitting upright, feeling his bleeding nose.

"OH FOR FUCKS SAKE, not again..." He yelled before falling over unconscious.

That night, the small group celebrated around a large fire made of dried Radscorpion carcasses and Curtis's home made moonshine, which helped both Curtis and Rich overcome their throbbing heads.

Inne was especially content. She declared their mission a success, that the rad scorpion nests had been broken or dispersed. More could not have been expected. With the destruction of the lower level, the group believed the source of the infestation had been removed, as well as a more dangerous threat that had been caged below.

Melvin continued to flirt with Roadrunner, and she seemed entertained by his efforts. She read his fortune kept his secrets hidden behind a smile.

Dwemer was more pensive and anxious to return. He light torches around the camp site. Thoughts of what he had seen below had not been forgotten and he drank less than the others. The torches provided little light, but in the dark Dwemer could hear the scuttling of insect feet. Radscorpions, giant spiders, centipedes, cockroaches, some of them recently coming from the complex below. He listened carefully, for a more liquid, oozing sound, and once or twice thought he heard something moving in the dark.

"Probably burned away." Said Caribe, surprising Dwemer.

"Maybe." Said Dwemer.

"Whole damn level went to hell and then most of it collapsed." Caribe put down a old banged up mug of moonshine. "And good riddence."

"Yeah. But I'd be happier seeing it dead." Said Brute.

"We could go back down in the morning."

Dwemer paused. "Yep. We could."

"Or we could head back to Shady Sands." Continued the nukecola man.

"I do have business to attend to." .

Caribe was quiet for a moment, taking a sip of the bitter drink. THen he said, almost as a whisper, "And perhaps some things are best left alone."

Roadrunner closed her eyes and frowned. "It lives beneath us.... it won't return. But it will live," came her ominious prophecy. Just then her eyes cleared.

"So... my champion." She turned to Dwemer, smiling a girlish smile. Not a slutty smile, but like a maiden smiling at her knight in shining armor.

She completely blacked out Melvin. He was cute, but Roadrunner foresaw his path was that of a sower spreading seeds to the winds. His fate lay else where.

OOC: Great closure! :)

Nice job, folks! :D

IC:

Whether the monster was dead or hiding in the dark below, it was time to celebrate.
Around the fire, the adventurous group was braging, joking, telling the tales of the ordeal they have faced. Each reminded and told an episode, speaking about it on his own style. After all, they went through very dangerous situations and survived, together.

At time, people went to sleep, with one or two remaining as a watch. The group kept shifts, just in case.

Inne too. She had a lot to think about. For instance, it had been nice to work in a group - she was not too used to have people looking after her, and it felt good. And her feelings. That was in her mind: she was not sure what exactly she was feeling, either about her or Carib. She had been seeing the world in a new way, a different way to her. What would happen in the future? Was she supposed to change, as she felt tempted? She had always been a tough skinned and it had worked so far, hadnt it?

Just now she was feeling open to new alternatives. And Inne felt that either way she choose, she was growing as a person.

Too much phylosophy for one night. After her shift was over, she fell deep asleep.

*Morning*

As the group was improvising a breakfast, it was time to make a decision.

So you think we should go back to the city, Inne?

Yeah, lets all tell Shady Sands that the radscorpion menace is over and that the vault and caves may still be dangerous, so that people should not get near. But there is something else bothering me

And whats that?

The raiders. Been quiet for days. I feel they are up to something!

Perhaps we could all go check on them.

Make some cleaning there. - added Melvin.

Yeah, after we go to Shady Sands.

The old miner had woken up, too. What about you? Do you want to come to Shady Sands, too?

Carib raised the mug of hootch to Curtis. "Finest brew I have tasted." He slapped down the beaten tin mug down after his last swig. Carib enjoyed a good brew, and Curtis' own was excellent. Bitter and it hit the head like a sledgie.

The old man cackled and gave a dismissive wave. "Old family receip." he grinned.

Carib got close enough and held Inne's hand. "So... can we hold hands, or are you going to resist?" Carib gave a mischievious smile.

In the morning, Dwemer's head still buzzed. But whether that was because of Curtis' booze or Roadrunner's eyes, he was unsure.

He had expected danger when he had left the vault, a quest on which his vault's life depended. But he had not expected the other things he found. Not the ratgirl in the caves, not the monster in the mine. Not friends, and certainly not the shades of mystery he saw in Roadrunner's eyes.

He found himself suddenly shy and uncertain. When he looked to Melvin for help, the black man gave him but a toothy smile.

What was it about roadrunner. She made him nervous and at the same time she made him calm. And he was worried, perhaps he was too quiet.

He could remember only parts of the night before. But he remembered her sitting near him, and the smell of her skin. But mostly the mystery of her eyes, and how that seemed to beckon him.

Shaking his head, Dwemer spoke.
"One thing, before we go. I need to take a second look at the mines. They might have something we need but didn't get the chance to really search for."

The others got quiet. No one really wanted to go down there again.

"What could be so important?"

"A waterchip?"

Melvin turned away, "Oh fuck this."

"What makes you think a water chip is down there?" Asked Inne.

"The complex. It was built in part by Vault-Tec. We saw that when we went through the administrative levels. Same type of tech and hardware I've seen in vaults. Could be they were also setting up this project and installed the waterchip." Said Dwemer.

"Except they didn't" Said Curtis.

"How do you know?"

"Because this has been my home since before I could speak, is how." Said Curtis, bringing the glass to his lips. "Water access came from an underground spring. Always did. They were concerned that it might have been damaged or contaminated, but had no choice. Had they a waterchip, well, maybe it would have been different."

"But what about in the patent storage areas?" Asked Melvin. Like Dwemer, Melvin was thinking about their obligations to the vault.

"Yeah, about them. Never fully stocked and finished." Said Curtis. "The facility was still under construction when the war happened. The transfers hadn't occurred. They were in the other facility if at all."

"Which would be where?"

"Fuck if I know. Those records were either damaged or destroyed." Said Curtis. "And no, I will stay here. This is my home and my business. I'll take another look down there and poke about. If I hear about it, I'll see about getting it to you. You folks keep what ever you found down there and brought up, and I hope to see you all again sometimes. Don't be no fucking strangers."

And Curtis took his glass back into his shop.

Vedpose wasn’t feeling great about sleeping out here without a bed, but she certainly couldn’t do it until she found something to null the pain in her shoulder. Zeke was already asleep within five minutes of lying down and Ved realized that he had little or no choice but to sleep out here. She looked through her medical bag for a pain killer but found none.

“Better go find something to help with this.”

She had bandaged her arm and leg, applying a type of anti-bacterial substance to both. Neither one was as bad as she thought. Both cuts were long but no one than a couple of centimeters deep. What was bothering her was the bite on her shoulder. She had used the same treatment on that shoulder as her arm and leg but this wound had a burning itching pain that still lingered. Perhaps, she thought, it was the gecko saliva that had gotten into the wound that was causing this. In any case she needed find something to deaden the pain.

It was still slightly light as Ved left the camp, the dusk slowly fading and the night swallowing all. Ved wonder off about 200 meters south west of the camp, finally finding all of the desired plants.

She started heading back when she heard a scream.

”GET OFF ME DAMMIT!!!”

It was definitely Zeke and it sounded like he might be in a little bit of trouble. Night had fallen by time and Ved could not see anything. She pulled out her night vision goggles and looked back towards camp. She saw three figures two of which appeared to be circling and attacking the other. As she moved closer and she could see a small artificial light source, possibly a flare, and the two figures lashing out at the third. From what she could tell Zeke was the one being attacked. By whom, she did not know. Upon closer inspection she confirmed that it was in fact Zeke who was out numbered. She took up a position about 40 meters from the camp and started to take aim at one the figures, this one appeared to holding Zeke form the behind while the other was taking cheap shots at Zeke.

*Zip* Ved let her shot fly. She had been aiming for the head of the figure but the wound on her shoulder caused her aim to shift slightly down causing the bullet to pierce though the neck of the unsuspecting victim who slumped down into Zeke. Vedpose used the confusion caused by her first shot to take out the second assailant with a shot to the chest.

She got up from her position and ran over to Zeke to see if he was alright. He had quite a few cuts and bruises but he would live.

“You alright?”

”You do know that I didn’t need you’re help.”

”I’m sure that you didn’t” Vedpose bit back with a sarcastic tone. ”So who were these guys anyway?

”Remember the raiders I told you about, the ones that attacked while you were out of it.?”

”Yeah”

”These would be their pals out for….”

Zeke was cut off by a female voice that emanated behind Vedpose. “Revenge”

Vedpose went to turn around

“Don’t move unless you enjoy bathing in your own brain matter.”

Vedpose froze as she felt the cold end of pistol graze the back of head. How was she going to get out of this one? Vedpose thought that she might be able thrust her rifle back and get a shot off.

“Loose the gun, now!”

So much for that plan Vedpose thought as she dropped her rifle.

“I am going to enjoy slowly killing the two of you the same way I know you enjoyed killing my love.”

This mysterious female foe ran the barrel of gun up and down Ved’s neck and back in an almost sexual manner.

”You fucking sicko. You’re getting off on this aren’t you?”

This only prompted her to pull back her gun and smack Ved in the side of the head with it.

Vedpose used this as her opportunity. When the gun hit, she went into a roll, pull her pistol out of her sleeve holster, and fired a four shots in this little missy’s torso. She slumped to the ground with a smile on her face; death seemed to be this raider’s love even when it was her own.

Vedpose felt a trickle of blood coming from her ear. Everything looked very dim and the sounds of the wastes were distorted and painful. Vedpose fell to ground and stared up at the stars for a second. After that, there was only darkness.

Sam walked over to Curtis and gave him a hardy shake. "Thank's for your assistance, Curtis. The Brotherhood of Steel never forgets. And the booze was great. Has the old touch many don't have to this day." She gave a smile and walked to Richard's side, helping him up.

"Well shucks," Curtis chuckled grasping her hand firmly and kissing the back of it. "Let not all the old ways be forgotten." He winked. Sam blushed.

She smiled at him and said nothing. It was time to head over to Shady Sands with Dwemer and the rest to settle whatever business had to be done.

Zeke had watched the exchange between the two women with a slight amount of amazement. Maybe Vedpose was not quite as helpless as she had appeared to be. A quick inspection for brain fluid in Vedpose's ear and a good look into her eyes revealed to Zeke that she had a concussion. Bandages were rare in the wastes so Zeke decided to take a few from Vedpose's medkit to wrap around the sizeable wound on her forehead. When he was done he wet his fingertips with water from his canteen and flicked Vedpose in the face until she woke up.

"Hey Vedpose....can you hear me..........Do not go to sleep or you will never wake up."

She let out an unintelligible slur.

Zeke took out a few old coffee grinds from a small pouch and placed them under Vedpose's tongue. Her mouth seemed to chew for a minute before she regained full consciousness and spat out the ridiculously strong tasting grinds.

Zeke waved his hand in front of her face to get her attention."Vedpose, you have a concussion......If you go to sleep you will die."

Vedpose became wide eyed for a moment, but it died away.

Zeke nodded glumly at his handiwork and went about taking the equipment from the dead raiders. One had a stimpak hidden in his jacket pocket which Zeke stuck into his boots incase of an emergency. Further inspection revealed little in the way of items: 2 bags of healing powder, a pair of brass knuckles( he wasn't very fond of this particular pair.), and a dull knife. One thing did stand out. The particular pistol that the woman had used to hit Vedpose was a desert eagle .44 magnum, Zeke gave an appreciative grin and grabbed a box of ammo for it off of the raider woman before he stuck it in his pack.

Vedpose had remained quiet and slightly dazed throughout the past five minutes.

"Well Vedpose seeing as you and I are going to be awake for the next 24 hours or so to make sure you do not fall asleep and die, I should ask an important question. Do you happen to have a deck of cards?"

Curtis watched the group leave, disappearing over the horizon on their way north. Well it looked like things would be getting busy. With the scorps gone, there would be more traffic between Shady Sands and Junktown. Even if TMF was off the beaten path, they would come in sooner or later. Then there were the raiders. So it would be getting busy again. Crap.

Dwemer didn't look back at the camp. His mind was elsewhere, on the vault and the quest. And he felt guilty.

The feeling gnawed at him. He had done a service to the people who had welcomed him. He had helped his friends. And had made new ones.

He glanced at Roadrunner, the small girl moving gracefully ahead.

But he was mostly concerned about his vault and his obligations. It was all about the waterchip.

Shady Sands, then Vault 15.

As Roadrunner walked ahead, a smile on her face, her long dark hair free and some trinkets and bangles bedecked her body. She danced and twirled like a little girl ahead of the group.

She looked back and saw Dwemer nearly stop in his tracks as her pearl black eyes met his. In him, she sensed great good, not the corruptness or aloofness of the other blue suits of his kind. He and the darker man where truly like the fabled cookie of old. The one that united the white and black together.

"Tu mira?" She whispered in her native tongue.

"I say unto, Melvin... a woman waits for you at the gates." She said in her little prophetic voice. "You have fanned the flames of desire. And no water can ever quench them." Again.

If Dwemer were lighter in complexion, his face would be red.

"Cut 'dat out lil' sista. You givin' Melvis here, the jeepers."

Dwemer smiled. And Roadrunner looked at Brute and smiled at him. Then she turned away and continued to prance.

Inne enjoyed Curtis old fashioned way. And it was nice to have him kiss her hand, it did strike her specially when she had been thinking about her feminility.

And she smiled before saying goodbye.

As the group walked pacedly back to Shady Sands, she thought of Carib and the way he held her hand. That indeed felt so... Comfy? Gentle? She did not know how to put that in words.

Gosh, what did he want from her? Maybe he really liked her.
And still she did not want to be disapointed again.

But he did not seem like the kind of guy that Ian was. No siree... But how would she know without taking a chance?

Without thinking, Inne had retreated her hand from Caribs after a few moments.

The group arrived at Shady Sands.
