ICC- Zombie Apocalypse- At the Truck Stop

Not open for further replies.
At the diner-
Bo was relieved that Dr. Hausmann was still alive, though she was still very badly hurt and panicking. He wished he had been faster in coming to her rescue, but was simply glad Luke had been there and wasted no time in helping her as best he could. He used his considerable strength to haul Horst's body off of Dr. Hausmann and dumped him unceremoniously on an empty part of the floor. He grabbed the first aid kit he had brought from his car earlier off the floor nearby and handed it to Sally. "Help her, please!" he said. "Anyone who's good at first aid or can help calm her down, please help!" He called to Kimberly. "If you have any sedatives or other medications that can help her or relieve her pain, bring them! Someone go out to my car and tell Sean!" He gave Luke a thumbs up. "Thanks, man. Great shooting!"

Bo sat beside Dr. Hausmann. "It's okay, Dr. Hausmann, it's over," he said calmly. "Horst is finished. There are people here who can heal you, and a State Police helicopter is on its way to take you to Omaha. Stephanie is getting your computer fixed. Everything's going to be fine."

(OCC- I'll write for Sean this time, since c0ldst33ltrs4u hasn't posted in over a week. In his last post he said he was very sick, which is probably why he's been absent so long. I'll post for Stephanie and the Foos later, since I'm still waiting to hear back about the results of my last PM.)

In the parking lot-
"I'd try to get that tire changed, trooper," said Sean to Joe Barring over the radio. "I wouldn't fancy going anywhere on foot, and it'll take longer to get anywhere. Besides, if the chopper has to put down before Brownson, you'll have to bring the fuel out to it. It'd be awful hard to do that on foot."

Sean looked at the diner with alarm when the gunshot rang out. He put his hand on Bo's shotgun, wondering what he should do.

At the diner -

"I shoot things for a living, trooper. A bear, a moose, a tiger, a lion or some nutjob that doesn't realise he's dead: it's all the same principle. If it bleeds, I can kill it." Luke answers the state trooper as the empty bullet casing hits the floor, making a hollow metallic sound when Luke removes it to put in a fresh one "Maybe he's got the hint this time..."

"I think someone should inform the other people around here that we might be in serious trouble. Forget about riots. Dead men don't riot. They hunger. Not that I'm an 'authority' on the matter, but the nazi muffin didn't think much of conversation and went straight for the main course." he adds as he's starting to understand what he saw on TV "And now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go grab something outside. This stuff is giving me the heebeejeebees the more I think about it."

"Woah woah woah! Put that away cowboy." Luke says as he exits and meets Bob storming in with his Beretta in hand "Playtime is over."

Bob slows down & holsters the Beretta. He goes in & gets briefed on what happened. Meanwhile Luke goes to his pickup truck. He parks it right next to the window where he was sitting in the diner. He then jumps in the back, unlocks the big fixed metal case in the back and grabs his shotgun and some spare ammo. Only after he's loaded the shotgun with standard 12 gauge buckshot and fixed the choke to fire a medium narrow pattern, he realises he had completely forgot about the news van.

He searches for them through his binoculars.

OCC - This might be a good time to start thinking of a initial defendable position. Can you give us some more details on the surroundings? What Luke would be thinking of is this:
If they're being chased, Luke will try to take the high ground with his other rifle once he's notified the people in the diner. He will look for a suitable defendable vantage point. This is possibly the roof of the diner itself, if there is no stairs to go upthere. Or the roof of another structure that's not easily accessible. He will look for a ladder that he can pull up the roof with him once he's up or he'll use his rope from the pickup, but that's a lot harder if he's hauling his rifles and spare ammo.

OCC- the Game time is now 10:01 am

In the State Troopers Car in the Parking Lot.
Baldwin also hears the pistol. “I hope that killed that other cracker motherfucka.”

Joe Barring calls back in the radio. “Roger that. I think I can change the tire before they get too close. I’ll radio back in when I’m on the road.[/quote]

In the Helicopter, Erica Spears’ voice comes in over the radio. “This is State Trooper Erica Spears, in State Trooper Helicopter T-115, I am enroute to Brownson. ETA 25 minutes, over. Hope you folks have someone down at the airfield, cause things are looking pretty damn hairy.”

In the Diner-

Sally looks at Haussman’s arm and tries to calm her down. “This arm is in bad shape. I don’t think I can fix it with what we have… “ She says. Despite her efforts she can’t seem to calm the doctor down.

Ashley has been watching Sally try to calm the doctor down. “I studied Psych in college, I could try.”

Sally looks up and shrugs, “Give it your best shot.”

But despite her best efforts, Ashley fails to calm Dr. Haussman. “She’s badly shaken up and in psychological shock. Hopefully she will calm down soon.” Says Ashley shrugging. “This is beyond me.”

Meanwhile Kimberly has opened up her pharmacists kit and removes a syringe and a bottle of liquid sedative. “This should calm her down a bit but it will take a few moments. Perhaps then she can assist you in setting that arm.”

Duke has been watching suggests, “You know, that skinhead looked for a minute their just like those people on the television. Perhaps he got what ever disease is spreading around?”

The talk of infectious disease quickly spreads among those at the Diner.

(OCC- Discussion of defending the Diner is perhaps a good idea, but a bit premature yet. In any event the discussion should be on the OCC board, not here. You’ve also moved Luke about rather quickly. Let me give the guys in the van a chance to respond before posting what Luke sees down the highway.)

In the parking lot-
"Trooper," said Sean into the radio, "if you've got any flares left, you might consider setting them out while you work on the tire. If those guys are scared of fire like you said, that might keep them away."

When Luke came out of the diner to move his pickup, Sean decided that this was a good idea and drove closer to the diner. He parked as close to the entrance as he could, with the car pointed away from the diner in case they needed to leave in a hurry.

In the motel-
Mr. Foo opened the door to his room. "Ms. Bridges?" he asked. "Please bring your computer in here and I'll take a look at it."

Stephanie nodded. "Thanks. Here, hold this." She handed him her own laptop, then retrieved Dr. Hausmann's computer from the front desk, hurried into Mr. Foo's room, and plugged it into a power strip he pointed out at his writing desk while he locked the door again. Mrs. Foo watched with interest. Her husband never allowed strangers into his room, but of course these weren't normal circumstances. She knew it must be extremely important, and that he knew what he was doing.

"There's some vital unsaved data on it," explained Stephanie quickly, "so it needs to be fixed without turning off the power."

Mr. Foo knew the first rule of computer repair was to shut down and unplug the computer, so this made it rather tricky. "I'll do my best," he said, taking out his tools and setting down Stephanie's laptop.

Stephanie unpacked her laptop. "You can use my computer for parts if you have to. If you don't, maybe you can fix mine later. If that's not possible, maybe you could just install my hard drive in her machine alongside the one that's there so it can access both of them. How much do you want?"

"This one's on me. I know how urgent this is. There is something you can do for me while I work, though." He showed her the communications equipment.

"Wow."

"I got through to the CRC in Omaha for you, and I think they'd like to talk to you. I may also be able to help you get there."

"You can fix a chopper too?"

"No. Fly one, yes. Fix one, no. But I may be able to arrange for another one to pick your people up. There's someone else you can talk to who can help there. Let me show you how to use the equipment. You clearly know your way around a computer, so this should be a snap to learn. When you're done talking, you can also monitor what's going on in the outside world while I work on the computer." He demonstrated how to use the equipment and connected her to the CRC in Omaha.

"This is Stephanie Bridges," she said. "Dr. Hausmann is fine, and so am I. Our chopper broke down and we got stuck here." She told the person on the other end their location. "We've got people trying to fix it, but we may be able to get another ride before that's done. Our computers were damaged during a scuffle, and Mr. Foo is going to try to fix them and save the data."

Mr. Foo sat down at his desk, opened up his toolbox, and inspected Dr. Hausmann's laptop.

In the diner-
"Thank you," Bo told Kimberly. "Horst did seem exactly like those people we saw on TV, but he wasn't showing any symptoms until he...died? Was he really dead? Dr. Hausmann might be able to figure out more when she recovers, and she might want to do an autopsy. We'd better put the body in the meat freezer to preserve it. Lock it in too, just in case. Charlie, why don't you help me with that? He looks dead for good this time, so I don't think we need the fire. One of my fellow troopers told me on the radio that these guys seemed to be afraid of it. After Sidney started burning, they took off in all directions. That must be why we saw all those fires on TV! People were setting them to keep these...these things at bay, and they must have gotten out of control."

OCC- Notes-

Mr. Handy- you will need to roll electronic repair and computer use to try to repair Dr. Haussman's laptop.

Also Stephanie will have to roll either fast talk or persuade if she tries to convince anyone of anything

Zoe- Note that Samantha the Vet might be able to do some of the pathological work on Horst that Bo suggests.

IC-
In the Parking lot-

There is no response from Joe Barring. Hopefully he is trying to repair the tire.

In the diner-

Kimberly looks up. "I can do some of the pathological blood work and testing, if you need help. Haussman will be fairly well medicated for the next 30 minutes or so but will slowly regain consciousness. I can't promise you that she won't be in a state of psychological shock... I also suggest that you keep her covered least she go into shock. WHen you have a free moment, I have something to tell you, but I think it best told in private."

On the highway-

(Willie rolls sanity) http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=527256

Willie can't believe what is happening, and for a moment he just can't take and remains silent and with a lost look in his face.

OCC- Sorry for the short post, but I don't really have much time now. I just wanted to make the rolls for Willie before I disappear for a few days. I have explained further on the OC thread.

On the highway-
OCC- NO worries, Willie just avoided near doom from the living dead and took a big sanity hit. He's a bit catanonic at the moment

IC-

Tisha soon realizes that she is speeding towards both Sidney, the car accident that has blocked the highway and the hordes of ghouls that are staggering down the highway in her direction.

She tries to swerve the van away and onto the other lane to go back towards the T-Bone. But there are too many of the creatures! She tries to dodge them but despite her best efforts she can't avoid them nor make the turn around carefully.

One creature after another are hit by the van, some are clipped, others are run over. The van is slowed down. Thomas and Willie can hear the creatures as they pummel the van as it passes. The pressure of the creatures rocks the van as it tries to move. Tisha remains at the wheel desperate to continue. Tears are falling from her face and she cries out as the creatures continue to bang and the sound of their awful moaning and growls becomes deafening!

One of the ghouls brings both fists down onto the front windshield of the van, shattering it. Those inside can see the creatures, a multitude of individuals all sporting ghastly wounds, all reaching towards them.

Tisha continues to try to move forward, the van struggles....

At the Diner-

Luke is peering down the highway and sees that the news van is somewhere between the lanes and seems to be surrounded by a large mob of people. It's trying to move forward but the number of bodies that are surrounding the van are making it difficult to move forward, reducing the van to nearly to a crawl.

in the diner

Flip had watched in horror, as the leader of his militant organization had been bludgeoned, and than had expired, and then returned to a state of animation, and attacked the woman that had tried to save him. Flip's heart rate had quickened, a floatly feeling had taken hold of his innerds, He began to truly feel the effects of cold fear. "Fuck-me-sideways.." he said- not able to believe what he had just seen "Horst.... just... he- " Flip said, talking to his self.

in the Garrage

Wallice could still hear some of the Fray. "Must be one big fuckin critter" he said to his self- as he began to run, in the direction of the disturbance, the .357 Colt Python unholstered, his thumb on the hammer, of the double action pistol. Wallace was never much for utalizing the double action. He always thought that it was for those that couldn't handle themselves, when the going got tough.

OOC (Also - do I have to roll for running/sprinting?)

OCC- Stephanie failed her Persuade roll (96% roll vs. 44% skill) http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=527834

Mr. Foo succeeded at his Electronic Repair roll (61% roll vs. 70% skill) http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=527836

Mr. Foo succeeded at his Computer Use roll (38% roll vs. 41% skill) http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=527839

IC-
At the motel-
"I think I can fix it," said Mr. Foo. "The damage isn't too bad. Let me connect you to Warren AFB first so you can talk to Major Andrews and request a helicopter." He opened the channel to the Air Force Base and introduced Stephanie.

"Thank you for speaking with me, Major," said Stephanie. She told him the situation.

"The CO has his hands full at the moment," replied Major Andrews, "but did express concern about your security. I will relay your message about dispatching a helicopter, but for now I would highly advise that you proceed on your own initiative. How many uninfected persons are in your immediate vicinity? Have you engaged infected individuals?"

Stephanie and Mr. Foo conferred. "We have not encountered or engaged any infected persons as of yet," said Mr. Foo. "Here at the motel there are three employees including myself. We have about fourteen guests. Half of them went off earlier to investigate one of the meteorites and haven't come back yet. I'm starting to get worried about them. A couple of them went over to the truck stop across the road for breakfast and to coordinate with the people there, and the rest are still here. There are about ten employees at the truck stop, which has a garage and diner." He went back to the computer and got to work.

"There are five of us in Dr. Hausmann's group," said Stephanie, "There's also a state trooper helping us out. Other than that, there were around ten or so other customers at the diner. One more thing: Horst Jaegermeister, the leader of a local heavily armed skinhead group, was there along with one of his followers. A black truck driver beat him almost to death with a wrench. The others in the diner restrained him and the trooper arrested him, but our computers were damaged in the struggle. Mr. Foo is repairing them now. Dr. Hausmann was trying to save Horst's life when I left, but it didn't look good. There could be big trouble, though, if the other skinheads find out what happened. They could come down here and tear the place apart. The phones are down and the remaining skinhead was still in shock, and the trooper told everyone not to leave, but sooner or later the skinheads are bound to wonder why they haven't returned.

"We're trying to fix our chopper, but we might not be able to save enough fuel to get all the way to Omaha. There's also a working State Police helicopter in the area that we're trying to get down here, but it's almost out of fuel. Either way, it'll take a while and time is critical.

"Dr. Hausmann and her data must get through to Omaha before it's too late. I've worked with her for about a year now, and she's a genius. She is the next Louis Pasteur. If anyone can cure this disease, it's her. To just leave her here would be like the British not sending a plane to pick up an atomic scientist in Nazi-occupied Europe in 1940 with the Nazis closing in on her because they need all the aircraft they can get for the Battle of Britain. It's like that old story about the horseshoe nail. For want of a nail, the shoe was lost. For want of a shoe, the horse was lost. For want of a horse, the message was lost. For want of a message, the battle was lost. For want of a battle, the war was lost. And all for the want of a horseshoe nail. Major Andrews, Dr. Hausmann is that horseshoe nail.

Stephanie felt that Major Andrews was sympathetic, but he didn't seem convinced and he didn't have the authority by himself to do what she needed. "You should talk to Mr. Foo again when he's done with the computer. He said we could also try to patch you through to the CDC in Omaha so they can talk to you directly and tell you themselves just how urgent it is. It will take about fifteen minutes, and I'm not sure it will work since this equipment is so old, but we can try."

In the lobby, Mrs. Foo spoke to her remaining guests: "If you have weapons, please to get them and pack your own things. Also fill up gas tanks if you have cars. My husband very busy now, but when he done we can make more plans. If any of you good mechanic, maybe you help fix helicopter."

In the diner-
"Thank you," said Bo to Kimberly. "I really appreciate this. We can talk outside in a minute." He grabbed a tablecloth and used it as a blanket to cover Dr. Hausmann. He then spoke to Sally. "Please, look after her while I'm gone and try to set that broken arm again now that she's calmer. Charlie, why don't you get that body into the freezer before it starts to reek? Please search him for weapons or anything else useful too. Rosie, please try to keep everyone calm. The situation here is over, but there's a lot of hairy stuff going on out there. I emphasize again that nobody can leave the rest stop." Bo motioned to Kimberly to follow him outside.

In the parking lot-
Jim Kerr spoke to Trooper Erica Spears over the helicopter's radio: "There's a Trooper Joe Barring on his way to Brownson to rendezvous with you. Sean Blank told me he blew a tire trying to bypass the area around Sidney, though, so he may be delayed. Maybe Trooper Richards can drive to Brownson and bring you enough fuel to get your bird here. Right now he's got his hands pretty full, though. There was a murder in the diner and he arrested the guy who did it. Then just a minute ago there was a gunshot in there, but there was only one so hopefully everything's okay. Hey, he's coming out now."

Bo emerged from the diner and held the door open for Kimberly. "Okay," he said when they were outside. "What did you want to tell me?"

OOC:
Hi there

A lot of ground to cover!

IC:

In the Junkyard

Jin takes the fender and runs after Mitchell towards the Garage.
"I´m coming! I´m coming!"

Hopefully they would be locked safe before that "thing" got to their heels.

At North Road

(ooc: Felice holds her sanity - for now. http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=529121)

Felice notices the yellow smoke is all around. She can not see the guy who asked the question, nor the dead guy, nor the family. "Poor bambini! I wish I could..."
But the cracked window is a reality call. Felice starts her car and moves ahead as fast as she can down the roadLet´s see if you can beat my Porsche!

She has a sudden inspiration, though. (OOC: http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=529122)

At the T-Bone

Samantha looks around, and as usual, decides to keep her quiet.
But then she looks at the distraugh woman in shock.
Samantha takes a deep breath and walks towars her.

- Hey doc.

Samantha looks at all the action around her, people runing and doing all sort of things. "Wow, that guy sure is strong!", she thinks.
Everybody seem to be trying their best under the circunstances.
She then looked at the distraugh woman, the one in shock.

Samantha breathes deep and walks toward her:
- Hey, doc. Mind if I sit here? she sits beside the woman. Keeping a tone of voice that was a bit slower than her normal, she says:
- You know, I am kind of a doc, too? A vet. Gosh, that brought me to some awkward situations. Sometimes animals had attacked my heels, but never a human being...Yeah, that tops anything...

She takes a candybar from a pocket in her jacket.
- I love chocolate. Want some? - offers to the doc.

Edits- from welsh

In the parking lot-
Bo rushed back to his car near the diner entrance. He opened the diner's door briefly and called to Bob: "Meet us by the chopper, please. We need to discuss what happened, and I'll need your help for a minute." Then he went back to the car and opened the driver's door. Sean got out and went around the car to the shotgun seat while Bo got behind the wheel. "I'll explain what happened when Jim and Bob join us. In the meantime, get your rifle and ammo ready." Bo drove up to the chopper and parked the cruiser where he had before.

While Bo waited for Bob, he spoke into the radio: "This is Trooper Bo Richards again. All units be advised. I know this is going to sound crazy, but there's no other way to explain it. The guy in the diner died, and then he somehow came back to life and attacked someone and tried to bite her, just like the people running amok. He had incredible strength in spite of his terrible wounds. Someone put him down for good with a bullet in the brain. The woman's arm was broken and she was badly hurt, but she's going to be okay. Trooper Joe Barring, if you can hear me, I plan to head over to Brownson in a few minutes to join you once I get the fuel and straighten out a couple of things here. Over."

Bo collected his extra shotgun shells from the glove box and patted his trusty Mossberg. He had a feeling he was going to need it out there.

In the motel-
"Thank you, Major," said Stephanie. "We'll do our best to hold down the fort. Good luck at your end. I've taken up enough of your time already, so I'll let you get back to your duties." She then contacted Omaha again and updated them on the situation. "It doesn't look like Warren AFB is going to send us a chopper, and I think it will take too much time to try to patch you through to them. We'll try to get that State Police helicopter here, or failing that fix our own." She glanced over to Mr. Foo, who seemed to be making progress on the laptop. Her own computer was on the desk near it in case he needed to cannibalize it for spare parts. "Dr. Hausmann's computer is being repaired right now. Any other instructions? What should we do if, God forbid, Omaha is overrun by the time we get there? Is there a fallback location we should head for?"

Stephanie grew increasingly worried as she learned what was going on in the rest of the world and thought about those people on the highway who were likely infected. She kept her fear in check, focusing on the job she had to do.

In the lobby, Mrs. Foo spoke to the guests. "My husband be very busy for a while. Ellen, maybe we start packing supplies now."

At the chopper -

Bob stands around waiting, nervously checking his watch.

"He better not be wasting my precious time..." he mumbles as he passes back & forth.

In the Junkyard-
OCC- this creature has been under the Chevy for awhile, so I doubt it has the motor coordination to run. You should be able to get to the diner first. Still… one can never be too sure.

Mitchell runs for the garage through the field of dead, ruined vehicles, aware that Jimmy is right behind his heals. As he runs he can hear what sounds like a moan coming from behind him, but its no sound that ever left a human soul. Rather it is the sound of breath escaping a cadaver.

They are nearly at the garage when they meet Wallace leaving the garage, his .357 Python in hand.

Boss Earl is observing this, but his temper is increasing as he’s heard nothing about the helicopter, “What the hell is wrong with you boys? Mitchell, I hope you found that part.”

On the Highway East.

Willie come out of his dazed state as hears the thumping of hands that are denting the side of the van. He hears they growling, moaning… but they can’t be. They’re dead… He is aware that the van is slowing down, that the creatures are rocking the van on its side. He can hear them climbing up on the side, can see them on the window.

Thomas, sitting at the front looks out terrified begins to shriek, brings his hands to his face to stop seeing the terror around him which has now overcome him and prevents him from helping Tisha.

OCC- Thomas took 6 sanity points and has just freaked out. This will last until they escape the zombies or Thomas gets eaten.

Tisha continues to try to navigate through the zombies and is making progress, but the creatures have crashed the window and are reaching in. Even so, Tisha is able to continue moving the car forward to prevent most of the creatures from reaching in. Tisha is screaming. “Jesus Fucking Christ! Willie help me God damn it!”

On the road North-

Felice hits the gas and the car leaps away from the strange cloud and the monsterous creatures that hide with in. For a moment she feels relief but than she hears a strange growling coming from behind. She has not had the good fortune to escape the creature inside the Porsche!

Even so the quick movement of the car jerks the creatures movements at it tries to climb over the shattered window and into the vehicle. Yet the creature manages to stay in the car and take wing. It tries to fly within the car and attacks Felice’s as she drives but it narrowly misses to score with the stinger because it is off balance by the movement of the car. Despite this, Felice is able to car on the road.

Distracted by the monster in the car, Felice doesn’t see what happens behind her. Only Michael witnesses the onslaught and destruction of the Latham family.

Mr. Latham tries to fight off the creature that has stung him through the cheek. He howls in pain. He grabs at the creature that is clawing to his face but is unable to escape them

Michael watches in horror as Mr. Latham struggles with the creature staggering into the field, and then the creatures suddenly swarm around the man and he disappears from sight, mercifully hidden by the strange mist.

Mrs. Latham is also attacked by the creatures. Micheal can see them landing on her, stinging her repeatedly with their stingers. She tries to fight them off, staggers back towards her car. But unlike on Alex, the poison does not kill her. But she cannot withstand the onslaught of the creatures and she falls to the road and the creatures begin to rip her apart.

The children behind are no longer screaming in terror but from pain as the creatures come through the window. Michael gets only a glimpse as he sees one of the creatures puncture the older Latham child through the eye.

The destruction of the Latham family affords Michael a brief respite from the creatures as they prey on more easy targets. He sees Felice’s car pull ahead…

From the corner of his eye he also sees Alex’s leg seem to shake.

(OCC- Michael roll Sanity and if you don’t drive away, roll idea)

In the Diner-

Samantha is quite sure that Dr. Haussman has been traumatized and it will take time for her to come out of it. That or professional help. But she lacks the psychoanlysis skills to do more.

Sally tries to set the arm.. (Roll first aid and might as well try psychoanalysis again as you talk Dr. Haussman out of her temporary insanity).

Charlie tries to carry Horst’s body to the freezer but has difficulty with it. Boss Hammond looks at David. “Help him out with that will ya?’

David doesn’t look to happy with that but goes along.

In the air above Nebraska-

Erica Spears looks at her fuel gauge. No way she’ll have enough fuel to get back into the air. Lucky if she makes it to Brownson and that airfield. Outside, she flies over empty Nebraska plains, a relief considering what she had seen since this morning.. mobs of people attacking, killing....

Hope they have someone waiting on the field when she touches down. But then, hopefully she has enough to gas to get there.
(Erica Spears- roll luck).

In the parking lot-
State Trooper Joe Barring has not responded to the radio call. Baldwin, sitting cuffed in the back. “I tell you what. You let these cuffs off me and I’ll help you out. We can get to Brownson on Route 30. Let me drive my rig, and I think we can get through any mob.”

In Mr. Foo’s Communications room-

OCC- Handy, I am assuming that you are contacting CDC?

The CDC communications person calls back. “This is CDC. If Omaha is over-run you may try to get back here to Georgia, but I doubt we’ll be able to hold out. We do not have any protocols as to how to proceed if Omaha is overrun. We will try to get back to you about that. Over.”

In the Junkyard-

"Part of what?", Jimmy thinks. After being inside and secure with the others, he says to Wallace:

"Hey, can you spare one of those guns? I usually hit my targetsl."

On the road North-

Felice is able to keep the car on the road. But the creature is still there with her.
"I could shoot this maledeto, but what if I loose control of the car?", she thinks. "Oh, shoot, better 'that' than me!"
And so, picking the gun from the passanger seat with one hand while the other continues to control the wheel, she takes a shot...

(OOC: The result was 63 http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=532814)

In the Diner-

Samantha is quite sure that Dr. Haussman has been traumatized and it will take time for her to come out of it. That or professional help. But she lacks the psychoanlysis skills to do more.

"Damn! I though I was doing so well..." she thinks, and sighs. " ANimals are so much simpler!"

Charlie tries to carry Horst’s body to the freezer but has difficulty with it. Boss Hammond looks at David. “Help him out with that will ya?’

David doesn’t look to happy with that but goes along.

Samantha doen´t think the task would be pleasant either. But she finds something else to do. She walks to Sally, who is trying to set the arm and says:
"Can I give you a hand in there?"

OCC- Yes, I did mean for Stephanie to contact the CDC in Omaha,

IC-
In the parking lot-
"Okay," said Bo once Sean, Jim, Bob, and Baldwin were gathered around. "Here's the plan: There's a State Police chopper coming in to Brownson soon and it's almost out of fuel. Bob, I'll need you to collect enough fuel from your bird to get it from Brownson to here, and then some. If the other helicopter has to land north of Brownson, it'll need enough fuel to make sure it can reach the T-Bone. Once it's here we can transfer the rest of the fuel to it so Dr. Hausmann can get to Omaha. Continue fixing your chopper in the meantime just in case, and don't tell Earl about the other chopper. You can tell him what happened in the diner, though. Dr. Hausmann was supposed to go see him to sign a contract for the repairs, and you can explain why she hasn't gotten there yet."

"Is Dr. Hausmann okay?" asked Jim Kerr.

"She will be. She's hurt bad and her arm is broken, but she'll live. Sean, give me the handcuff keys and go help the nurse take care of her. When you're done, I'll need you to come back and cover the police radio." Sean nodded, gave the keys back, and left for the diner. "Bob, if you want a lift to the garage, hop in. I don't understand how, but Horst just wouldn't stay dead." He told the others briefly what went down in the diner, as well as what Baldwin had said earlier.

"I haven't had much chance to poke around," continued Bo, "but I believe you're right about the meth operation, Baldwin. I think it's also very likely the PMS is holding people captive up at the compound. The mechanics snuck up there a few nights back, so maybe they saw something. We'll take your rig; it's a lot better than my car under the circumstances. There's no time to get one now, but maybe later we can find a plow on the junkyard to attach to it. I can't let people see you walking around free yet, but once we've got the fuel and the truck is blocking anyone's vision I'll take the cuffs off. You'll drive and I'll ride shotgun. Literally. I'll also bring my road flares. We can set them up around the landing area. That way the pilot will know where to set down and it may keep those things away if they are indeed afraid of fire. Jim, stay on the radio with Erica Spears. If Stephanie comes back, tell her what's happened. I'll leave my wheels here so you can talk back and forth with Sean when he returns. We'll keep in touch with him through Baldwin's CB. Everyone knows what they have to do, so let's go."

In the motel-
"Thanks," said Stephanie. "It'll be good idea to make a backup plan. I'll be here until the computer is fixed, and I'll keep you informed as to what I find out about what's going on here and elsewhere. Over and out." She went back to listening to the horrifying reports coming in from all over the world while Mr. Foo continued working on the laptop.

Mrs. Foo went with Ellen and began to pack the supplies they would need, starting with the water and food.

In the garage

"Miss What? I thought the dog's ran into some critter, or something! What did you guys find?" Wallice was un-awair of anything threatening. He is shocked, when hehears the distant, faint sarrowfull moans, of their persuer. "What the hell is that?!" he asked alloud, pulling the hammer back, on the .357 Colt Python. He then turned his head to Jimmy, and spoke "My AC556 is in the cab, on the seat. Ammo's under the seat.

In the Diner

Flip watched, as the corpse of his former friend, and leader was draged off, leaving a trail of blood. Flip's eyes were drawn to the bloody sludge, and splatter, that projected from horst's cranium. Flip then remembered, that Horst' had brought his Pistol with him. Flip knew that the pistol may come in handy.

OOC : Roll 38% vs Skill 49% Listen, for wallice.

Outside the Diner -

Luke wonders what to do (idea?). Setting up defenses would be prudent. He could probably take out a whole army of those zombies if he got himself on the roof of the T-Bone. It's a defendable position (as there are no stairs up, no fire escapes, no ladders) & a decent vantage point. (occ - he, of course, doesn't know of the flying horrors nearby.)

Or should help out the newsvan? It appears the zombs greatly outnumber the people as he saw on tv. Just sacrificing the newscrew would mean an even greater disadvantage. Afterall, if the zombs are busy attacking someone else, they're buying precious time for Luke to get the fuck out of dodge. How would he go about helping them? He could take the 4x4 pickup truck & see if them zombs like the taste of his bullbar, but what if he gets stuck & can't turn back? Or worse, what if he runs a flat on the debris?

The garage -

Dave quietly continues working on the truck.

At the chopper -

"Euhm, why the hell should I just give away fuel when I'm already bingo fuel?" Bob asks "Didn't she land at an airfield? Airfields usually have fuel. If not, go to another airfield & find fuel there."

"What happens to Dr. Hausman & Ms. Bridges if this state trooper chopper never gets here?" he adds "We get stuck here, because you just gave away our fuel. I don't exactly like the prospect of driving them to Omaha..."

"Besides even if she does get here on my fuel, what then? It comes down to math, doesn't it?" Bob says "I can barely get to Omaha from here with my current fuel, correct? Well, you want someone that's also out of fuel, to first fly here and then to Omaha on the same fuel I can barely get to Omaha with. How exactly are you planning on doing that, genius? Conjure some fuel out of thin air?"

"Hence, if you want to do that, you'll have to secure fuel elsewhere. Not just take mine..." he concludes.

OCC - Bingo fuel = barely enough fuel to reach your destination.
btw stompie, it's Wallace.

At the chopper-
"It's not giving away fuel," said Bo, "it's investing it. Erica Spears hasn't landed yet, and while Brownson does have an airfield, it's in disuse and there may or may not be fuel there. She may not even be able to make Brownson on the fuel she has left. If she lands somewhere else, we won't find fuel there. Plus those things have been coming west from Sidney, and Brownson could be crawling with them. Other airfields nearby might have fuel, but we don't have time to get to them and then Brownson, and they're probably overrun too. There may not be time to search for more fuel there, but if we can we'll fuel up while we have the chance. If the other chopper can't take off again we can bring the fuel back. If for some reason we don't make it back, you'll still have most of your fuel and you won't be stuck if you can fix your chopper.

"I know we'll probably have to refuel the other chopper on the way to Omaha if we can't get more fuel at Brownson, but we might have to do that anyway with yours. The simple fact is that the state police chopper is working right now and yours isn't. Time is critical, and if we can get it here Dr. Hausmann could be in the air by eleven. It's not safe for her to stay here any longer than necessary. She was going to go to the garage to sign a deal with Earl so his guys could work on your chopper, but she's in shock and she'll take time to recover. She was lucky to survive this time, and that was only against one of these creatures.

"Is there a risk involved? Of course, but the alternative is riskier. That state police bird is coming into Brownson fast, and we don't have much time to stand around discussing this. We need to move quickly, and I think we should go for it."

OCC-
Patience folks. I am a bit frustrated with the delays at the moment, but Gonzales says he will post and I would like to give Cold a bit more time before I kill his characters.

Incidently, this is a good time for more discussions either on the OCC or here as to what to do next.

Good planning saves lives,etc.

OCC- Take your time. I have plenty of other things to do in the meantime. c0ldst33ltrs4u last posted on July 12, when he said he had a killer cold. My guess is that he's been sick since then.

IC-
At the motel-
While Mr. Foo kept fixing Dr. Hausmann's laptop, Stephanie kept up to date on what was happening around the world and forwarding what she learned to the CDC in Omaha and Major Andrews at Warren AFB. When she spoke to Major Andrews again, she added: "If we manage to get a chopper into the air, fuel is going to be very tight. We might not have enough to get to Omaha. Would it be possible for us to land and refuel at Warren AFB? Over."
