Junkmaster
OCC- Players, please remember that you do not have to post (nor should post) what non player characters are doing or even what your characters are seeing. Leave much that is outside your characters control to the Keeper. This is a game of responding to circumstances, responding to danger and solving puzzles, not one of creating narrative or other story telling.
In the Junkyard-
Buddy whines at the ground under the derelict car and then backs away. Then he barks, and snarls…. Then whines again. Max trots up and sniffs the air and then begins to snarl and whine as well. From what Jimmy knows of dogs, there is something under the car that the dogs don’t like.
(Jimmy can try to Listen to see if he hears anything).
Wallace and Mitchell are elsewhere in the junkyard continuing their search for the missing part. Both men are trying to work on an ancient truck on the far side of the junkyard.
In the Diner-
Sally approaches Dr. Haussman and says, “I’m a registered nurse and can help.” She opens up the medical kit that Bo brings to the diner and goes through it. “This is all first aid gear. It’s not enough to help. There is a clinic in Brownson, and hospitals in Kimball and Sidney… But I don’t think we are going to get there in time.”
“I need something to calm him down, a sedative.” Says Haussman.
Kimberly says, “I might have something in my car.” And dashes out the door to fetch a kit of pharmaceuticals she keeps in her car.
Charlie has tried the telephone. “The telephone lines are down.”
Duke tries his cell phone. “I got nothin’ on my cell.”
Robert nods, “Nothin on mine either.”
Horst begins to convulse.
“Shit! We’re losing him!” Says Haussman. “I need a sedative now!”
Horst’s body is twitching violently but Sally can’t find the right medication to sedate the dieing man.
Flip watches helplessly.
Rita is also watching the death of Horst. “Didn’t believe that fucker could be killed he was always so damn mean.”
“Always had a big mouth.” Says Hammond.
“Yeah but now we have other problems, don’t we.” Says David.
Hammond doesn’t answer. He looks to Stephanie. “You want help with that laptop, might ask Earl. He’s pretty good with repairing electrical gizmos. But it will cost ya. That is atop any charges for fixing your chopper.”
Rosie standing near Stephanie whispers, “Or you can try Mr. Foo at the Motel. He’s pretty good with electrical stuff too.”
Rita, overhearing, shoots Rosie a withering stare. “You girls best start cleaning up this here mess and stop that yappin’”
Dave the trucker walks up to Stephanie, “I’m not so bad with electrical appliances. I could look at your laptop too. You can think of ways to compensate me later.” He says with a sly wink.
(It is safe to say that Haussman is too busy helping Horst to respond to Stephanie’s inquiries or really listen to what Stephanie has been saying. Stephanie will have to do what she can on her own.)
As Baldwin is being handcuffed by Bo, “You should be thanking me for killing that muthafucka now. He was going to kill us all first chance he got. Whole world coming undone and that asshole still believes in white supremacy. Mutha fucka was whacked before I touched him. But what he said, that ain’t nothing. The man was evil, and I’ll tell you that. You handcuffing me and you should be cuffing the rest of those muthafuckas up at that compound, you hear me. I got somethin’ to say, that I think you want to hear.”
Luke, observing this, (roll psychology).
At the hotel-
While Mr. Foo is preparing his weapons the telephone rings from a private line.
Mr. Lathan and Mrs Lathan stare blankly at Samantha. The kids begin the “Oh Dad, can we go now? I want to see the meteorite… The other women just went. Why can’t we? I’m, tired of this place.” The whining of their voices is most irritating.
Mr. Lathan shrugs. “Better than waiting here at least. I need to get out of here and do something.”
Mrs. Lathan offers a slow, somewhat medicated smile.
Mrs Foo notes that the Mr. Lathan and his children are walking out with Jenny. She also notes that Felice seemed in a hurry to leave. Very strange.
Ellen returns with the other guests. “Maybe we should get in touch with the folks over at the T-Bone. I’m worried about Charlie. “
Mrs. Foo knows that Ellen and Cody have been seeing each other for the past few months.
In the Parking Lot-
Kimberly leaves the diner and runs for her car.
At the Helicopter-
Erica Spears is still on the radio, “Roger, say again? Billig field? That’s the municipal airfield? Also, I don’t got much gas here to waste checking out different airfields trooper. Check that landing at the T-Bone. No way troop. I’ll be damn lucky if I can make it Brownson with what gas I got. I need a destination and need to get there fast. You want me to try for Brownson, best be clear about it because I can’t stay up here much longer. I’m willing to come as close I can to you, but I can’t be diddlin’ around up here while you make a decision. Over.”
(OCC- in other words, Erica is willing to help you out, but you have to make the decision as to where she will try to land. She does not have the fuel to try different landing destination. And the longer you delay, the worse her chances- make a decision
You are also running out of time to contact the State Trooper Joe. Someone playing Jim Kerr or take over one of the individuals near the helicopter to make a decision. Somebody play Sean Blank?)
On the highway-
Tisha gets up with Willie and Thomas’s help and bolts for the van. Thomas and Willie are both aware that there are more people, if that’s what they can be called, closing in on both the van and them.
(OCC- run? Rolls Dex out of 1d20 if you can make it, Roll dodge to see if you evade the grasp of the living dead!)
On the Road north of the Hotel.
Felice driving her car sees a figure in the far distance. The dirt road goes a few miles before it crosses a local highway, then there is a rickety bridge over a river (the Lodgepole). She also sees the sign overhead with a sign that announces the PMS compound and a warning to stay out. In the distance she can see a bit of smoke rising over a small hill. Perhaps that is the compound.
Another trail of smoke rises from the crater, this is rust color and as Alex approaches he can't help but here a buzzing sound. As he nears the notices that the meteorite seems almost transluscent. He can see inside the meteorite. In fact it doesn't even look like the meteorite is made of rock but something organic. And there is something within in it.
