ICC- Zombie Apocalypse- At the Truck Stop

Status
Not open for further replies.
OCC- Players, please remember that you do not have to post (nor should post) what non player characters are doing or even what your characters are seeing. Leave much that is outside your characters control to the Keeper. This is a game of responding to circumstances, responding to danger and solving puzzles, not one of creating narrative or other story telling.

In the Junkyard-
Buddy whines at the ground under the derelict car and then backs away. Then he barks, and snarls…. Then whines again. Max trots up and sniffs the air and then begins to snarl and whine as well. From what Jimmy knows of dogs, there is something under the car that the dogs don’t like.

(Jimmy can try to Listen to see if he hears anything).

Wallace and Mitchell are elsewhere in the junkyard continuing their search for the missing part. Both men are trying to work on an ancient truck on the far side of the junkyard.

In the Diner-

Sally approaches Dr. Haussman and says, “I’m a registered nurse and can help.” She opens up the medical kit that Bo brings to the diner and goes through it. “This is all first aid gear. It’s not enough to help. There is a clinic in Brownson, and hospitals in Kimball and Sidney… But I don’t think we are going to get there in time.”

“I need something to calm him down, a sedative.” Says Haussman.

Kimberly says, “I might have something in my car.” And dashes out the door to fetch a kit of pharmaceuticals she keeps in her car.

Charlie has tried the telephone. “The telephone lines are down.”

Duke tries his cell phone. “I got nothin’ on my cell.”

Robert nods, “Nothin on mine either.”

Horst begins to convulse.

“Shit! We’re losing him!” Says Haussman. “I need a sedative now!”

Horst’s body is twitching violently but Sally can’t find the right medication to sedate the dieing man.

Flip watches helplessly.

Rita is also watching the death of Horst. “Didn’t believe that fucker could be killed he was always so damn mean.”

“Always had a big mouth.” Says Hammond.

“Yeah but now we have other problems, don’t we.” Says David.

Hammond doesn’t answer. He looks to Stephanie. “You want help with that laptop, might ask Earl. He’s pretty good with repairing electrical gizmos. But it will cost ya. That is atop any charges for fixing your chopper.”

Rosie standing near Stephanie whispers, “Or you can try Mr. Foo at the Motel. He’s pretty good with electrical stuff too.”

Rita, overhearing, shoots Rosie a withering stare. “You girls best start cleaning up this here mess and stop that yappin’”

Dave the trucker walks up to Stephanie, “I’m not so bad with electrical appliances. I could look at your laptop too. You can think of ways to compensate me later.” He says with a sly wink.

(It is safe to say that Haussman is too busy helping Horst to respond to Stephanie’s inquiries or really listen to what Stephanie has been saying. Stephanie will have to do what she can on her own.)

As Baldwin is being handcuffed by Bo, “You should be thanking me for killing that muthafucka now. He was going to kill us all first chance he got. Whole world coming undone and that asshole still believes in white supremacy. Mutha fucka was whacked before I touched him. But what he said, that ain’t nothing. The man was evil, and I’ll tell you that. You handcuffing me and you should be cuffing the rest of those muthafuckas up at that compound, you hear me. I got somethin’ to say, that I think you want to hear.”

Luke, observing this, (roll psychology).

At the hotel-

While Mr. Foo is preparing his weapons the telephone rings from a private line.

Mr. Lathan and Mrs Lathan stare blankly at Samantha. The kids begin the “Oh Dad, can we go now? I want to see the meteorite… The other women just went. Why can’t we? I’m, tired of this place.” The whining of their voices is most irritating.

Mr. Lathan shrugs. “Better than waiting here at least. I need to get out of here and do something.”

Mrs. Lathan offers a slow, somewhat medicated smile.

Mrs Foo notes that the Mr. Lathan and his children are walking out with Jenny. She also notes that Felice seemed in a hurry to leave. Very strange.

Ellen returns with the other guests. “Maybe we should get in touch with the folks over at the T-Bone. I’m worried about Charlie. “

Mrs. Foo knows that Ellen and Cody have been seeing each other for the past few months.

In the Parking Lot-

Kimberly leaves the diner and runs for her car.

At the Helicopter-

Erica Spears is still on the radio, “Roger, say again? Billig field? That’s the municipal airfield? Also, I don’t got much gas here to waste checking out different airfields trooper. Check that landing at the T-Bone. No way troop. I’ll be damn lucky if I can make it Brownson with what gas I got. I need a destination and need to get there fast. You want me to try for Brownson, best be clear about it because I can’t stay up here much longer. I’m willing to come as close I can to you, but I can’t be diddlin’ around up here while you make a decision. Over.”

(OCC- in other words, Erica is willing to help you out, but you have to make the decision as to where she will try to land. She does not have the fuel to try different landing destination. And the longer you delay, the worse her chances- make a decision

You are also running out of time to contact the State Trooper Joe. Someone playing Jim Kerr or take over one of the individuals near the helicopter to make a decision. Somebody play Sean Blank?)

On the highway-

Tisha gets up with Willie and Thomas’s help and bolts for the van. Thomas and Willie are both aware that there are more people, if that’s what they can be called, closing in on both the van and them.

(OCC- run? Rolls Dex out of 1d20 if you can make it, Roll dodge to see if you evade the grasp of the living dead!)

On the Road north of the Hotel.

Felice driving her car sees a figure in the far distance. The dirt road goes a few miles before it crosses a local highway, then there is a rickety bridge over a river (the Lodgepole). She also sees the sign overhead with a sign that announces the PMS compound and a warning to stay out. In the distance she can see a bit of smoke rising over a small hill. Perhaps that is the compound.

Another trail of smoke rises from the crater, this is rust color and as Alex approaches he can't help but here a buzzing sound. As he nears the notices that the meteorite seems almost transluscent. He can see inside the meteorite. In fact it doesn't even look like the meteorite is made of rock but something organic. And there is something within in it.

At the hotel-

Michael walks out the hotel and heads his car, he takes his camera with him. He does not think it is safe for the kids to go out, but it may bring some advantages, traveling with other people and more cars could be convenient. As he walks towards his car he speaks to Mr Lathan and Jenny. "Fallow me in your cars, it would be safer if we stick together."

Michael observed the other car that just went out heading for the metiorite. Hmm... looks like someone is in a hurry to get there.

On the highway-

Willie tires to get Tisha back on her feet and towards the van (rolls Dex out of 20)http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=518871, then tries to dodge the zombie near the van to get in. (roll dodge)http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=518883

At the helicopter-

To the radio: "If you are doing so bad on fuel, I guess your best choice is to get to Billing Field, you might find some gas there. But whatever you do, do it fast, and try not to call much attention. After that, try to get back here to the T-Bone as soon as possible."

To Sean: "Better check on State Trooper Joe, get him on the radio and warn him about what Spears told us."

In the Helicopter-

(OCC- Gonzales, you may wish to discuss this via pm to Mr. Handy who has some info on airport locations- note that Scottsbluff is quite a distance from the stretch of I-80 between Sidney and Kimball-
map but a better choice than Alliance[/url]

Erica Spears here's the instruction. "Roger that. But are you sure about that. I passed by Scott's Bluff and saw a hell of a lot smoke. You folks going to drive up 71 past Harrisonberg to meet me or do you expect me continue on to your coordinates? Over."

OCC- In my last post I already had Jim Kerr tell Erica Spears she should start flying south from the start so she wouldn't just hover around wasting fuel, and he said she should try for Brownson since she said she thought she might be able to make it; I just hoped she might be able to fly directly to the T-Bone. The other airport I mentioned is William Hellig Field, located three miles east of Scottsbluff. I'll write for Sean Blank, since his usual player hasn't posted.

Mr. Foo made his Persuade roll exactly (66% roll vs. 66% skill)

IC-
At the diner-
"Thank you all," said Stephanie to the people who gave her advice. Though Boss Earl could probably do the job, she would rather not waste time dickering with him, and she wanted to make sure he was available to work on the chopper if Dr. Hausmann could convince him later. David's only recommendation came from himself, and "not so bad" didn't sound good enough for the sort of delicate repairs required. Besides, she knew what sort of compensation he had in mind. She had planned to try the motel first, anyway.

"Let's go out to my car," said Bo, helping Baldwin to his feet and ushering him towards the exit.

Stephanie gathered the laptop computers and loaded them into their carrying cases, along with the adapters used to plug them into electrical outlets. As she was finishing up, Bo walked by escorting Baldwin. She picked up the computers, one in each hand, and followed him outside.

In the parking lot-
"Trooper," said Sean into Bo's radio, "this is Sean Blank here speaking for Trooper Bo Richards. We have a situation here and could really use your assistance. He's busy at the moment dealing with a fight in the T-Bone and a dying man." He glanced at the door just as Bo came outside. "He's coming out now, and he's got a prisoner. I'm part of a U.S. government team that's trying to bring Dr. Hausmann, an important scientist, to Omaha. It's extremely vital that she gets there fast, but our chopper broke down and had to land here for repairs. There's also a Nebraska State Police chopper in the area that's running out of fuel, If the pilot has to put down, she may need you to back her up until we can get her enough fuel from our bird to get her here. If I were you, I'd give Sidney a real wide berth. It's burning bad and there are mobs running amok. You should head our way, but be careful. I-80's a total mess, so you might try Route 30 instead. Over."

Bo held the door open for Stephanie as she came out behind him. "Thanks," she said, taking off at a jog. "I'm heading for the motel. See ya!"

Bo waved and led Baldwin towards his car. "I really wish you hadn't gone and done what you did back there," he said. "If what you say is true, you should have come to me first rather than take matters into your own hands. I know Horst Jaegermeister was a sick son of a bitch, but you don't just walk up to someone and smack him on the noggin. Civilization may be falling apart elsewhere, but I intend to keep the peace in this corner of it for as long as I can. Those skinheads are bad news, but it seems a bit of a stretch to think they'd be plotting to massacre everyone. I don't suppose you have any evidence of these allegations?"

At the motel-
"I hope Charlie okay too," Mrs. Foo told Ellen. "He nice fellow. Bud already leave for diner. Maybe he see Charlie."

Mr. Foo was alarmed at what he learned after responding to the phone call. He had been expecting something of the sort, but not so soon. He burst from his room, pausing only to lock the door behind him, and ran back into the lobby. Some of the guests had already left, so he went to the window and shouted outside: "Everyone, please come back in right away! Something has happened, and we need to speed up our evacuation. There is no time to investigate the meteorites. I just got a call back from one of my friends. China as well as North and South Korea have been hit with nuclear weapons! We need to hit the road within the next few hours. Anyway, it may be dangerous in that direction, especially for you, Miss Cooper."

Mrs. Foo gasped. "Missy Felice already leave in car!" she said. "I think she head north."

"Maybe she'll run into Alex and bring him back, then. Going after her will probably do little good, unless she stops or drives slowly. None of the other cars could catch up with that Porsche, especially with her headstart. I hope she hasn't decided to bug out on her own and intends to rejoin us. We really need to stick together."

"What happen in China and Korea?"

"It sounds like a nuclear exchange to me. I don't know who struck first. China and North Korea are known to have nukes, though the North Koreans hadn't tested theirs before. South Korea undoubtedly has been working on nukes of their own to counter the North, but it was probably our nukes that hit North Korea. We do have tens of thousands of troops in South Korea - or at least we used to. We wouldn't let the strikes there go unanswered. We probably hit China too, though there's a small chance India did that. Retaliation is only a matter of time." Mr. Foo squeezed his wife's shoulders. "You and Ellen need to pack quickly. Make sure you bring the potassium iodide. It will protect against some kinds of radiation if taken shortly before exposure."

Mr. Foo turned to Samantha. "Thank you, miss. Your help would be most welcome. You can assist in packing. All of you should pack your own things right away and those of you with cars need to top off your gas tanks. If you have any weapons, gather them. Father, perhaps you can provide spiritual counseling to those who need it."

On the Highway-

(OCC-Thomas needs to roll dexterity- to see if he makes it to the van, and dodge, if he misses the zombie near the van).

Tisha has a head start but the clothing she wears, her dress and her heels, slows her down and soon they are all dashing for the news van.

"I've got the keys." Yells Tisha.

But there is at least one of the things between the small group and the van, and it's walking towards them. In their panic the small news crew suddenly realizes that the zombie before them is missing an eye, yet seems to be lurching towards them, arms outstretched, as if it has no pain. They also notice that the creature, for it could be no man, is missing a piece of its neck, that the shirt is covered with blood.

(Willie and Thomas, Roll Sanity!)

They hear the footsteps coming from those behind them. They are being chased down by others, ghouls that can run at remarkable speeds.

They dare not turn their eyes to what chases them now.

Certainly that which chases them is no longer human....

Whatever the things are, humans are only food.

Tisha screams out in her horror, then one of those grabs her from behind. The lovely Asian girl is knocked to the ground and is atop of her. Tisha tries to wiggle away and struggles against the creature, pushing it away and, for the moment preventing it from biting her. Tisha tries to escape the creature by wiggling out from under it, but the creature is overpowering.

Willie is almost next to Tisha when another of the creautures catches up to him. It lunges for Willie, but Willie dodges around the creature and remains on his feet. The creature continues forward caught in its own momentum. Not breaking stride it begins to circle around for Willie again.

Willie sees Tisha struggling to get up... He is also aware that other ghouls are closing in quickly....

(Willie- can try to kick or punch the zombie off Tisha and get her back on her feet... Remember she has the keys).

Thomas???

The garage -

Gary is picking out some parts & necessary tools before heading to the chopper. Dave is still mumbling & singing under Wallace's rig. Bob has just left to go to the diner to ask Ms. Bridges or Dr. Hausman how the deal is going with that moneygrubbing asshole that owns the garage.

occ- does Bob meet Stephanie outside or does he go into the diner?

In the diner -

Luke is not very interrested in what's happening inside the diner & quietly drinks his coffee. He starts looking outside out of boredom & wonders if he should head out & start driving.

In the parking lot-
Bo whistled when Baldwin finished. He didn't know whether to believe him or not, but he couldn't rule it out. He had just been telling Stephanie earlier how I-80 was a corridor for smuggling drugs and people, and crystal meth had been spreading in the midwest in recent years. It had to be coming from somewhere. Could the operation have been running under his nose for all this time? That part did ring true. Some of it sounded extreme, but not outside the realm of possibility. Humanity had carried out all sorts of atrocities throughout history.

"That's a lot to take in," Bo told Baldwin. "I appreciate the information, but I'm going to need some proof. Just how do you know all this, anyway? And where exactly is the storeroom where they keep the meth? I don't exactly have the manpower or firepower to try to search the compound at the moment. Even before all this went down, it would've been hell trying to execute a search warrant on that place. We might have had Waco all over again." They reached Bo's cruiser, and he opened the back door. "Here's what I'm going to do. I'll lock you up in the back seat for now. This is for your own protection too. Whether or not you're right, those skinheads will be out for your blood. I don't know if there are any jails still in operation, but this prison's on wheels and it can move if need be.

Bo locked Baldwin in the back of his car, then pointed out Sean, who was in the front seat. "This here is Sean Blank. He's part of the helicopter crew. You can tell him what you told me. Sean, I don't know how much of it is true, but I think we need to investigate further just in case. Be careful who you repeat this to. I'd tell the rest of our group, but do it where others can't hear, especially the employees at the truck stop.

(OCC- welsh, when Baldwin tells Sean what he told Bo should I just forward the PM you sent me to his player, or will you do it? Also, does Bo have a second pair of handcuffs, or did he only have the one he used on Baldwin?)

Bo sat down across from Sean. "I'm going to use the radio, then I need to go back inside. I already told everyone not to leave, but I need to be there to make sure. I'm going to keep everyone there busy and drag my feet as much as I can, act slow and methodical. Whether or not Baldwin's right, I don't want that skinhead reporting back to the others. If they find out what happened to Horst they might go nuts regardless. In order to hold him for long, though, I'd need to charge him with a crime." Bo cracked a smile and turned to Baldwin. "You know, it was kind of odd how he just stood there while you beat the life out of Horst. Wasn't he supposed to be his bodyguard? Mighty suspicious. Say, was he your accomplice in this?" Bo winked.

Bo gave Sean the handcuff keys. "Don't let him out unless it's an extreme emergency. My shotgun's right next to you if you need it. I'm going to have to stay in the diner keeping order, so you guys will have to find out what's going on until I get some backup.

Bo picked up the radio and spoke into it, making sure to leave out the specifics in case the skinheads were listening on a police scanner. "Trooper Joe Barring, this is Trooper Bo Richards at the T-Bone again. A man was just damn near killed and could die any second. I've got a suspect in custody, but tensions are high and this place could explode. There's a lot more going on here, but I can't go into details over the radio. I'm going to need backup here. Over."

At the motel-
While Mr. Foo waited for the others to come inside, he continued speaking: "We still likely have a little while before the immediate area is affected. China only has a limited number of nuclear missiles, not enough to hit most potential targets. A missile base like Warren AFB would require many, many nukes to take out, and it's not the only one of its kind. Each launch silo would require a separate nuclear ground burst to take out, because they're hardened. Plus, the dirt and dust the explosion kicks up would knock out any other missiles they fired at the same time, so they'd have to wait after each one. I don't think this area will go up until Russia gets involved. They're the only ones with enough missiles to do the job. Even so, we can probably expect an electromagnetic pulse to knock out electricity for the entire country before long."

"Come, please," said Mrs. Foo to Ellen and Samantha. "We pack supplies now."

On the Road north of the Hotel

Alex was astonished the Metiorite. as he approached the object- the buzzing grew louder, and more audiable. he strained his eyes, attempting to identify the object incased in the outer shell.

In the Diner

Flip sat down, in one of the diner's booths. the rage bubbled. he had conflicting thoughts. He wanted to relay the happenings to the PMS, though he felt as though he couldnt leave.

In the diner-

Luke looks out the window and can see down the highway. It seems the people staggering down the highway have turned away and are now heading towards the news van.

But the news van is little more than a white dot on the horizon as the morning heat hits and reflects off the asphalt of the highway. It's hard to see what's happening down the road. Perhaps if he had binoculars or the sight of his rifle.... Ah well.

Inside the diner, the old skin head looks like he's about to kick off to the great beyond. His legs are shaking like a death rattle.

The skinhead kid is still sitting in the booth where he was sitting before. The young waitresses are watching while the older one tries to calm people down. Hammond and Dave are watching, shaking their heads while the Doctor tries to keep the big skinhead a live. The nurse is also trying to help, but it looks pretty useless at this point.

Almost everyone is watching the old skinhead, the doctor and the nurse who are struggling to save his life.

On the road-

As Alex nears the meteorite the buzzing increases. Somewhere down the road a car is approaching.

In the parking lot-

"Roger. This is Joe Barring. Damn lot of people comin out looking pretty badly hurt. But I just had some crazed bastard try to break into my car while I was drivin' it. I think these people are damn dangerous Troop. No luck calling any other State Trooper stations. You figure I can get up 30? Or do you have other possibilities? What do you want me to do about that helicopter? You have coordinates so I can go there? Over?"

In the hotel-
The telephone buzzes twice. It's an unusual signal which Mr. and Mrs. Foo recognize.

In the diner-

"Just let 'm go, doc." Luke says uninterested "The man is a goner."

"I've seen a lot of people & animals die. There really aint much difference between the two, ya know." he continues "The humanitarian thing to do, would be overdosing him on painkillers or simple putting a cap in his ass."

He then theatrically puts his revolver on the table.

"Even if that nazi muffin were to miraculously survive, do you actually believe he'd be more than a vegetable?" he asks to no one in particular.

"Not to mention that the world is a better place without his hate anyway..."

occ - you didnt comment on Bob, welsh. does he see Steph while he walks out or does he proceed to the diner?

Hi all.

IC:

At the Junkyard:

Jim the runaway takes a glance around. The other men are at call distance, but are busy and not paying attention to him. Jim looks at the various car parts and other trash, in search for some long piece of scrapmetal that he could use to leverage the junk and see what are the dogs making such a fuss about.
Once he finds something suitable (along with some point of support) Jim carefully approaches the car to which the dogs are barking. Always ready to react at the first sign of danger, he will put his plan to action. At the same time, he is paying attention to whatever sounds may com from there.

In the hotel:
Samantha listens to Mr. Foo and nods. She says:
- I´ll get my stuff and be back in a sec.

She proceeds to her room, fast.
-"This is all crazy" - she thinks, "But if my skills can save some lives, i´ll be happy."

In her room, she quickly re-packs her bags and readies her weapons (checking and putting ammo).
Then she goes downstairs again and asks Mrs. Foo:
- Mrs. Foo, do you have packages of food that are handy? Things easy to carry with us and easy to eat, like snacks, fruits, whatever? And water, we sure will need water, on the road.

Then she looks around, and says to everyone listen:
- I am heading to fuel my car. Anyone who needs a ride, let me know.
And so she heads to the gas station nearby.

Samantha walks into the gas station, enters the dinner and looks at the person who seems to be in charge (OOC: Rita):

- Hi, I wanna fuel my vehicle. Also, I plan to carry some reserve. Do you have some small recipient were we can put a few more gallons of gas, for emergency?
And she waits for the reply.

Along the north road

Felice checks in her purse for her gun and readies it. She can see a car stoped ahead and a guy standing, walking towards something that..."Mamma mia, that shines like a diamond! " she says to herself. "Of course it is not a diamond, must not be, but..."
Felice stops her car on the road, about five meters away from the other car.
Something inside her, that gut feeling, was like thousands of alarm bells ringing. That thing was dangerous, and she did not like the way the guy seemed so fascinated by that. Felice shouts (to Alex):

- Hey there, whatcha´thinkia´doing?

In the junkyard-

Jim is carefully to try to remain quiet. The dogs have backed away from the ruined chevy and are growling threateningly. He finds a piece of rusted fender of an ancient car and moves closer, perhaps to use the fender as a lever.

But as he listens he hears...

The sound of scratching coming from below the dirt.
As if something is trying to scratch its way up to the surface from beneath the ruined car.....

JIm the Runaway stops right in his tracks when he hears the scratching:

- Ok, this is weird.

He backs up, placing the rusted fender on the floor and walks toward the other men in the junkyard, always keeping an eye in the car with the scratinching sound:

- Hey, dudes, some weird shit is going in that car over there.

Just after he spoke, it came to his mind: wht if those guys were criminals and, say, buried someone alive ? Or...What if its just another dog? No, if it was another dog or silly animal, the dogs would not have growled and barked like that.

OCC- I'll write for the Foos now, but I still need to hear back from the Keeper before I can post for Bo and Stephanie. That will probably be tomorrow night, since I'm at work on weekdays and can't post during the day.

IC-
At the motel-
"Excuse me," said Mr. Foo, rushing for his private room. "I must take this!" He unlocked the door, entered, locked it behind him, and answered the call.

"My husband very busy now," said Mrs. Foo to the other guests. "I organize everyone. When others come in, I talk to them. We have food packages, yes, and water. Containers full of water like you see on water cooler in corner." Mrs. Foo pointed to the lobby's water cooler, which also had a stack of conical cups. "We have MREs stored away for emergencies. Also snack food packages and cans of soda for vending machines. We have tools in my husband's room. Medical supplies too. Please, get weapons and fill gas tanks first. Then we pack."

In the Diner

Hearing the words of Luke, Flip grew more enraged, though he knew that there was little retribution that could be exacted, that didnt lead to his own demise, Unless, He Rallied the troops, so to speak, at The PMS. He knew that the PMS would tear everyone in the diner limb from limb, and possibly his self, for not protecting Horst. The thought of lieing to the PMS had surfaced, he also thought of the possable repercussions.

On the road, North of the Hotel

Alex could hear the car, approaching him from behind, he looked over his shoulder, to see the vehicle, he then turned his head back to the meteorite.

OOC: Oh well, I am replying as things happen. One character per post became the average :)

IC:
At North road

The guy looks at Felice and turns his back to the meteorite again.

- Cazzo! Lui è matto? (OOC: free-hand translation: "Damn! Is he crazy or what?")

Her hand goes to the door and she is about to open it but changes her mind.
(OOC: May I have a roll in Idea to somehow figure that "thing" is alive, or at least not just a meteorite? Maybe that reminds her of some ancient art work or legend (Art, History)

IC:
Prudence and comon sense has saved her skin more times than her ability with guns. For the moment, Felice decides to stay in the car and see what happens to the guy. But still, that uneasiness seemed to be getting worse by the moment.

Allong the North Road

Alex turned to the Porsche 911. He easilly identified the language spoken as Italian. He turned arround, walking to the porche. "Jesus - Do you see that thing? It's... Got something inside." he said, turning his head back to the Meteorite "And- It's buzzing." Alex found his self more interested in the meteorite than all els. "Tell me that you see that thing."

Outside the garage -

Bob walks towards the diner to find Ms. Bridges or Dr. Hausman, but meets Ms. Bridges halfway. She appears to be moving to the hotel with some laptop cases.

"Ms. Bridges!" Bob says as he tries to get her attention "Any progress on the negotiations with that moneygrubbing sleezeball? He doesn't want to help until his payment is assured by contract or something. With some help we could greatly speed up the process."

OCC - note that he knows nothing about Horst nor the laptops (yet).

On the highway-

(OOC): I cant enter the base scores for willie in this computer (it does not have acrobat reader installed), so you're going to have to tell me if he succeeded or not, Welsh.
And if not: Does he kicks again? Does he tries to grab the zombie and push him aside by using his strength? Does he does anything else?

(IC)
Willie attempts to get the zombie away from Tisha by kicking him away (Willie rolls kick) http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=521844

At the helicopter-

Jim speaks to the radio:

"Alright, if Scotsbluff is that bad then there is William Hellig Field three miles away from there I guess that's a better option. Do you still have enough fuel to make it there? Over."

At the north road-

Michael arrives to the scene, and notices that two people are already there. Michael gets out of the car.

"Are you sure that's safe?!" Michael said, speaking to the man near to the impact zone.

Then he directs to the women near her car. "What's going on here? What is happening with the meteor?"

(Michael rolls knowledge) http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=521869

After a short analysis Michael decides that whatever that meteorite is, it is not just a simple natural phenomenon, and surely not a simple meteorite. But as for what it is specifically he cannot tell, it would require more skill in astronomy.

Michael speaks to the man next to the meteorite "You may want to step away, we don't know what that is!"

The Lathan family approaches in their car.

(OOC) I can try to roll astronomy, but since there is a specialist in the scene...

OCC- Handy- Yes, Bo has a second set of handcuffs, but that will be about it. You might try the others.

On the Highway

OCC- Sorry Gonzales, a punch might have been more effective.

IC-

Willie tries to kick the creature off Tisha, but the monster is moving too fast and Willie is off balanced. The kick is glancing and does nothing but distract the creature. But in that moment Tisha is able to wiggle out from under the creature as it lunges for Willie.

Others are also approaching as Tisha gets to her feet, her highheels behind her and her dress now ripped... She staggers on her feet and tries to get away as the creature that formerly had attacked her tries to grab Willie. She nearly trips as she gets up and races for the van.

(OCC- Gonzales- roll for Willie - three dodge to see if he escapes to the van)

The fear of what is chasing then inspires Thomas to run faster than the others. The creatures that chase him give up the pursuit for more ready game. As he nears the van a slower moving creature lunges for Thomas, but Thomas easily dodges the creature. He opens the van and is able to get in, only to realize that he does not have the keys. ( Thomas' remarkable rolls)

He quickly peers outside and sees Tisha, struggling to get up as one of the creatures on the ground lunges for Willie. Two others another is circling towards Willie. Tisha also evades the creature near the van and gets to the door of the van, chancing a look back at Willie....

In the Helicopter-

Erica Spears is on the radio, "Roger.. This is Erica Spears. I'm headin for Brownson and expect my ETA at about 45 minutes. Hellig Field is a no-go, Over. Same airport as Scott's Bluff. No can-do. Not sure if I will be able to make it to Brownson, but no way can I get this bird back up in the air if I do make it. I would appreciate you folks trying to secure fuel... there's a community college of some sort there, and maybe they have a aviation fuel, over. I would also appreciate some protection for the bird... Over."

Trooper Joe Barring also reports in. "This is Joe Barring.. I am trying to circle around Sydney but its pretty bad. What ever is infecting those people.... The people seem to be moving away from the city. Maybe they are afraid of the fires...Most of the roads are blocked up with cars..... Lots of them things on the road.... I'm probably going to go off road."

In the diner-

Luke's words are somewhat prophetic.

"We're losing him." Says Sally the Nurse.

"I'll try CPR.... Where the hell is the ambulence." Says Haussman as she begins to perform CPR.

Rita is on the telephone. "Phones are all down."

Duke picks up his cell phone. "Mines dead too."

Hausmann is struggling to perform CPR.

"It's impossible to find a pulse." Says Sally....

On the road North

Alex has gotten close enough to the meteorite that lies some 30 yards from the road. But as Felice pulled up nearby with her Porsche he seems uncertain whether to get closer or not.

Michael has stepped out of his vehicle and is near Felice's Porsche.

Felice is still in the Porsche when it happens.

There is a crackling sound from the Meteorite. Alex, still curious, looks back.

A fissure runs down the length of the meteorite as it begins to crack like an egg....There is a hiss of air and suddenly a cloud of yellowish smoke begins to grow quickly around the fallen meteorite.

Alex suddenly gets the idea that he may be in much danger and runs from the escaping cloud, but is only able to escape a few feet when he is surrounded by the foul smelling cloud.

Felice, frozen in the Porche (Roll Sanity) sees something inside the cloud, something flying.

Michael is also stunned by the sudden change of events (roll Sanity)....

Alex (Roll Sanity) caught in the cloud is suddenly aware of the things that are flying around him in the cloud. Slippery creatures covered with some slimy ooze, they flap about him on leathery wings. He is aware of his body getting attacked by the creatures. They are all over him, climbing on his back, his legs. They grip his body with sharp claws, grabbing at his clothing. Most of them fall off and leave him unarmed, but two of the flying creatures manage to hang on despite Alex's efforts to get rid of them.

One of them stabs at Alex with its stinger but the stinger can't break through Alex's jeans. The other drives its long stinger into Alex's neck. He feels a searing pain as the stinger slides into his body, a cold needle against his skin. Then he feels something else... something wet enter his body....

Alex's legs freeze up. He can feel a coldness through his bones, in his organs. He can feel his skin hardening. He falls to the ground, his legs quite useless......

(OCC- Alex's rolls- Attacked by nine creatures, dodges 7 (amazing!) caught by two, sorry . Only one delivered the wound... but also the posion. Evil Flying Creatures Attack Alex

Michael and Felice can hear the screams of terror coming from the Latham car behind them.

They can also hear the door of the Latham car open and Mr. Latham yelling. "What the hell is going on?"

In the Junkyard-

Wallace and Mitchell are far away, but hear Jim's call. "What's that? "Asks Wallace.

Mitchell shrugs. "It's probably that kid who has been sleeping out in the junkyard. I've seen him a few times and he's been stealing showers and food.. I don't care. Ain't my water and it isn't my food. Besides the dogs like them."

"Those dogs have been making a racket." Says Wallace. "Maybe something you should check."

"Maybe. But I want to get this part out from under the truck."

The dogs have retreated back even further from the derelict Chevy and whatever is digging its way up.

Jim can hear it now. The scratching..... The dirt under the Chevy begins to move....

Jim sees what looks to be fingers and then a hand moving in the ground. There's a man underneath trying to dig its way up.....

(Jim Roll Sanity)

At the Hotel-

Mrs. Foo quickly realizes that her husband's announcement of nuclear blasts in Asia and the suggestion of great danger has managed to frighten most of the crowd.

(OCC- Mrs Foo maybe a debate or persuade to calm everyone down?)
