Inside the Vault - Ahn Hopgood

Well, that was... enlightening...

I will never suffer the word Ni to be stated that quickly ever again however, that bordered on obscene...

I'm afraid even if you manage the F3 guards to kill a child, it will either crash the game looking for non-existent "child death animation", which was simply never requested of the art team... or the child will just vanish into thin air.

No, the child will just lie on the ground for 30 seconds, and then get up and walk around as if nothing has happened.

Mick
and you know what that means? Anyone could abuse the kid over and over again. And then fallout 3 will be banned from stores because your able to kill a kid repeatably. I know far fetched.

The things I remember from Fallout 1&2[AI-wise]:

-when NPC's run out of ammo and they start sifting through bodies to find ammo or weapons
-when NPC's see that all resistance is futile :D, and they run away with their hands in the air *** ahhh sweet memories ***
-when only weapon that I have is an automatic rifle and my friendly NPC's are in the way and have no intent to move
-how NPC's switched weapons in order to use left over AP's
-the fact that NPC's didn't behave like retards on drugs in low gravity

Yeah, I recall killing the NCR Rangers in NCR (evil playthrough, thanks to Per), aiming for the large super mutant wielding a flamethrower first, and then the chaingun weilding humanoid in combat armor second. After dropping both of them, the third that was wielding a combat shotgun ran out of ammunition, ran over to the dead mutant, grabbed his flamethrower and then killed me. I was like "Huh? Are they that smart? :irked:"

Hmm, than the intelligence of companions is rather questionable sometimes.

Some time ago when I played Fallout 2 I had recruited Marcus and had given him several heavy weapons to play with, at that moment Marcus also had a flare in his inventory.

Almost every time when fighting an enemy he started to throw that flare at an enemy and then wanted to pick it up to use it again instead of using the plasma rifle or missile launcher he had.

I had to take the flare away to make an end to this nonsense.

I never let my NPCs carry grenades or flares if they're capable of a throwing action..

:)

It's a great way to avoid being plasma naded by your own guys.

I never really took my chances on that one. Never have I been plasma naded by my own guys :\ Will try that my next playthrough.

Assuming her programming skills are on par it still wouldn't matter.

Trying to control AI in real-time will never get within a league of the depth of response in turn-based. Turn-based devotes all the resources to finding the best course of action while real-time forces resources to be split between everything.

In fact this is an area where TB really outshines RT, espically when it comes to multiple critters. (cf Ian in FO1)

Personally I always felt the AI was one of the weakest (and most overhyped) aspects of Beth products.

Remember what The Todd said it would be:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zL8pyOP0VQI

And we've plenty of examples of what it is.

LOL - memories. I was impressed MOST of the time by the AI, except for infrequent moments like this. I wondered why the enemy AI didn't do things like that. All my companions ended up getting killed on the oil rig......

I sometimes wonder that myself. Seeing as you see enemies picking up rifles and such, and then proceeding to actually use them, while Cassidy (I've seen this done plenty of times to etch it into my memory) will do the opposite, and put away his GUN and use brass knuckles or a knife.

Oh, and for future reference...never give Marcus or Skynet boxing gloves.
