Interplay under investigation

I'm surprised that Mr. Haase is still on board. He, of all people, should know enough to be looking for a new job.

Interplay contracts out their shareholder public relations to the company Luke Haase works for. He doesn't work for Interplay, his company has a contract with Interplay. Why would he need to look for a new job?

It's not like he has a hard job, either. Ever read the Raging Bull forums? I think Herve Caen could personally call every one of the investors on that forum and say, "This is Herve Caen, CEO of Interplay. I suppose you've heard about our recent troubles. In a nutshell, we're SO fucked. We're totally screwed. There's no way out of this one. Dear lord, we're toast." and those guys would interpret that as a reason to buy more shares or hang on to what they have because that investment will soon pay off.

LOL

So at what point is the company actually dead, and at what point do they have to give up their licenses, such as Fallout ?

just play the waiting game and see...oh..we are.

Fallout isn't a license of theirs. A trademark with intellectual property behind it that could be liquidated to satisfy creditors, yes, but it's still not a license unless someone licensed it and then they would be licensing it from Interplay. Hunter: The Reckoning was a license that Interplay acquired and then later gave up, as would be any trademarked material that was leased to use. I doubt that Interplay has any remaining licenses left, and licenses are in regards to outside work or someone being able to work within a trademarked property that isn't originally theirs. Where people get stuck on it is that of course the owner has unlimited ability to use the property, but that doesn't make it a license.

This is far, far larger than a simple license changing hands.

No, someone else that went by Winterwind i`m sure, since the author of that piece registered there. I saw it this morning somewhere, maybe on Blues, don`t really remember.

Who is going to hire these people after the ineptplay's fiasco? Maybe only the Caen Gang .

EDIT: Cut the last part of my reply. Forget it.

It'll probably be sucked up with whomever decides to pick it out from Interplay's remains. More likely it'll get lost to someone Interplay owe money to (as a form of payment) and then get shelved.

So what happens to Fallout? Titus owns the rights to license it out as it sees fit?

Titus owns dick, that's the only thing that's pretty sure. No matter how much of Interplay they hold, the company has too many substantial debts to other companies (Vivendi, foremost) for Titus to be able to take any of the scrap left. In all probability, it'll be sold, but there're other factors, and there's no telling

So then how would a company go about aquiring all rights to Fallout? Would it simply be a matter of someone, say Obsidian, approaching Interplay or Titus and saying "We'll give you X amount of money for the rights to Fallout" and then if they accept, will they legally own Fallout?

No, Interplay doesn't even own the trademark fully, which is the other factors I mentioend

I kinda suck at explaining that, tho'

Does that mean that the rights to Fallout could be stuck in some sort of corporate limbo for a good long time if and when IPLY is gone for good?

Could? Yes. But it's extremely unlikely. Ownership of the Fallout trademark is kind of spread out between Interplay and several banks, the biggest holder amongst them is Greyrock. Titus used to have a bit, but sold it back.

But look at it this way, what does a bank want with a gaming license? They'll auction it off, or possibly reach a deal with one of Interplay's creditors, like Vivendi U.

*shrugs*

The Fallout license isn't worth that much anymore anyway, when you consider. Heh.

What, I go away for one weekend (to party like the animal that I am :P ) and all this happens..

The Fallout license isn't worth all that anymore, FPOS dropped the value quite alot.. But Herve believes he can get more than he actually can of course..

The rumour is that Herve actually dropped the ball on a recent sale of the Fallout license, since it's only a rumour I won't say who almost bought it... (some of you know already)

Oh man, you can't just say stuff like that and not follow up! That's like getting a hot girl to unzip your pants, and then she walks out of the room and goes home!

Give us a hint at least! please? :puppy-dog:
