Amusingly, the times when Fallout/Fallout2 were made were a golden era of PC shooters.

We're talking about games like Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, Quake II, Redneck Rampage, Outlaws, Shadow Warrior, Blood, Blood II, Powerslave, Eradicator, Chasm, Descent II, Heretic, Hexen, Hexen II, Dark Forces, Dark Forces II, Shogo, Witchaven II, SkyNET, MDK, Target, etc. etc. etc.
I remember reading about them in gaming magazines and playing some of them. It's not true that consoles have brought us the obsession with FPS games and realizing how much FPS games were back then and how popular they were and how "great" they looked back then shows how completely retarded were the statements about FPS games being "next gen" and about technology to make good FPS games being absent back then.
