Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart Apologizes for Anti-Gay Comment (09/23/04)
Evanglist Jimmy Swaggart is apologizing again -- this time for comments he made during a recent TV worship service.
On a September 12th broadcast, Swaggart took up the subject of gay marriage, and said if a gay man ever looked at him romantically, he'd kill him and tell God he died.
Swaggert later said it was just an expression he's used before, and that if anyone was offended, he's sorry.
A complaint has been filed with a Canadian broadcast group.
Swaggert's no stranger to controversy, of course. In 1987, he bawled as he acknowledged he'd been caught with a prostitute in a seedy New Orleans hotel.
A couple of years later, California police pulled him over. With him in the car was another suspected prostitute.
