Is this movie any good?

1) I have absolutely no idea. Never seen it.

2) One of my favorites, but it's not post apoc. It's about the invasion of the United States.

@Grizzly: You have poor taste in movies

Not liking "Red Dawn" means I have poor taste?

Let me guess, you probably have a life size naked picture of Patrick Swayze taped to the cieling above your bed.

Yeah I was wondering about Red dawn because I loved the game Freedom Fighters. All this cold war and nuclear weapons stuff interests me to the death (hehe :)). But I would really prefer to know about the first one. It's actually a TV drama, som that's why I'm worried about the acting.

No...

Not liking "Red Dawn" makes you gay...

Errm... no.

It's Johnny Depp

Methinks they're just fooling around, Baboon.

...And I actually do have a large poster of Johnny Depp over my bed. Salma Hayek and Eva Mendez are on the poster, too, so I think that evens it out.

Its "Once Upon a Time in Mexico", Dracula?

Baboo. I was very young when I watched Day After movie. It tries to be a realistic view of a nuclear war. The main star of that movie is "Mahoney" from the Police Academy. It doesn't have many special effects but it looks very real. It doesn't have zombies and stuff like that. It only shows the effects of the radiation over Texas.

The second movie: The Red Dawn is PROPAGANDA. Buy Road Warrior. :P or Escape from New York.

Red Dawn rocks.

Freedom Fighters reminded me alot of Red Dawn.

Except no deer blood drinkin'.

The Day After was ok, I remember when it came out back in 84, there are a few moments of cheese.

For its time (remember, Regan was in charge, and the Cold War was at it's Maximum Rhetoric Level), it was a pretty chilling flick. And the ending, with Jason Robard walking around a destroyed city, and John Lithgow's planitive calls on his shortwave are something that stuck in the head.

1. the day after is quite well done considering the low buget, it has some 'hang' times but it is quite good. (a little short though)

2. Red Dawn is.. well the story sucks, and I kinda hate little kids doing as if the'd know about anything.. it's a typical 80's movie.. diddn't like'd it (and I was drunk when I watched it.. so it must be really bad)

The Day after seems really good then, I wanted to see a realistic movie about the effects of nuclear war (zombies or such weren't expected nor were they wanted). I know Red Dawn is propaganda, it's flaming obvious, but I think propanda is a lot of fun. I won't buy it though. Didn't find The Omega Man in the store, but I've seen the Simpsons Parody of it :).

*edit*: I found the Omega man, it looked a bit old. I'm not sure.

I saw The Day After a couple of years ago on television. It's okay, I guess, it's like an attempt to show what a nuclear catastrophy would do to humanity. If it is really realistic is another thing, though...

[PCE]el_Prez has named the best post-apoc flick, imo: The Omega Man. That movie just rocks!

Steve Guttenberg?

That's right. The guy from cocoon.

Omega Man is a nice movie because of the setting. New York without anyone alive reminds me of 28 days later. In fact the guys from that crazy cult that appears during the night look like zombies.

Charlton Heston "You are only going to take my gun from my cold, dead hands" is great in that movie.

P.S: When I used the spellcheck it recommended "Charlatan" instead of Charlton. :P

The Omega Man is a terrific movie. There was talk of a remake a while back...Ahnuld Schwarzzenhammernuberguvernator was going to star in it, then he moved back to the production chair, then the talks kind of ceased and I never heard anything else about it.
