@Katja: Meeeeeeeeeow! I can't understand why you would be camera shy! Honestly, that was probably the best web-camera picture that I've seen of anybody. Hey, you live in the same country as me! If you can't keep that date with Mr. Gabo, I'll be happy to play second fiddle

Don't worry, you're not the only shy one. It's too bad that you got teased as a youth. Truth is, so have I as hearing aids are a bit more different than glasses. Oh, and I had glasses as well, so that compounds that even further. The important thing is to realize that what they said back then shouldn't have affected us, then or now. One comment by a runny-nosed brat when you were still in elementary school shouldn't have the ability to scar you emotionally even when you're an adult. At least I'm assuming that you're an adult now... Can't really tell.

Hmm, I'd probably have my picture up here already, but this thread existed while I was away working at camp. I'll have to fix that.

Here's me just ending a cross country race during high school. See the white finish line by my foot? Don't I look sexy in short shorts? Geez, that was a race to remember... Colder than absolute zero that day, but I placed in the top five! Just look at the fools above my shoulder that I pwned! The really sucky part was that I had shorts that had the elastic all stretched out by whomever wore them before, so they were coming down on that last stretch. I had to keep yanking 'em up in order not to show the audience my racing whitey-tighties.

Mr.Gabo & Ozrat, that was very nice of you two to say.

Actually until recently I didnt think that pic of me looked like me at all. But some internet guy ended up coming up to me and saying "Kat?".. we hadn't planned on meeting or anything, he just noticed me at school. So I guess there's some resemblance, although I still think that picture looks waay better than I really do.

It was several comments by *many* people... I couldn't walk down a hallway without someone calling me a name, or submit an answer in class without them making fun of my answer (even if it was a stupid math question). So I just... stopped talking.
And unfortunately, it does have the ability to scar. I realize it was a long time ago, and kids are cruel, but that was way over the line of "normal" bullying.

I'm nineteen. Is that adult?

That photo was taken last December, I have shorter hair now.

@Katja: A young woman who posts interesting replies with an underlying sense of humour is one I would care to meet, even as third fiddle to Mr Gabo and Ozrat (any more fiddles and we shall be able to start Ye Ol' Order Country Band, with "Maybe" as a feature song). If I may, you really are quite beautiful.

I was often the target of unwelcome comments and the occasionnal more physical attention by "runny-nosed brats" as a child and young adolescent, for I was two years younger than everyone else in my class and fully bespectacled. Ignoring them seemed the best solution, but it doesn't help self-esteem. It is indeed most irritating that such behaviour should have an influence all one's life.

"Tiny portions of their seven-course meals" in France, Old School Role Player? Perhaps in 'haute cuisine' restaurants, but otherwise they seem to go for quantity over three courses, plus coffee, spread over four hours (yawn!). The vast majority of the young women I've met are actually quite thin, they also tend to be rather fussy about what they eat.

I just told him that he looks excatly how i imagine a frenchman should look like.

I'm 19, UglyJohn, old enough to drive (I passed my test last Thursday), drink strong alcohol (but I don't) and visit ladies of negotiable affections .
