JE Sawyer on the GRA item pack

Just like many weapon mods, it still needs a mayor overhaul. Better texture, better details, etc. Right now it still looks wonky.

I think it's worth noting that The Witcher 2's patch 2.0 offers an update that adds substantially more stuff than GRA for free. Worth reflecting on.

Great.

First thing I thought of when I saw his reply.

Sawyer said already that he asked to do this to prove that it's possible to make a weapon DLC that doesn't cost 5 euro and gives you two weapons.

I have big doubts about there being some conspiracy behind it.

Haha. Which one of you guys asked this:

Why assume it's from here? Many (PC) gamers think that way.

"Owe" is the wrong word though. They don't owe us dick. It's more a question of PR. The budgeting for free DLC goes to PR, and Bethesda chooses to spend its PR elsewhere, like getting Jesse to play Rage with a lightgun at the beginning of the latest Breaking Bad episode.

JE's logic that "it costs money to make so we need to charge you" is patently false. Patches cost money to make to. Like I said, it's a PR thing first, and secondarily, well, I don't know if the consoles even allow you to release free DLC. Do they?

*ahem* and for the the delay of Dead Money for anyone who doesn't own an Xbox. And the delay of Old World Blues. Lonesome Road has been delayed two or three times already.

They do on occasion.

Microsoft is a lot more uptight with it than Sony is though.

Usually, the DLC has to be sponsored by a third-party to re-coup the costs of advertising and hosting.

Well, to be honest this is the only community I've seen that actually has that kind of entitled stick up its ass, and if the newspost updates are anything to go off of, plus it also cares a lot more about Sawyer's formspring (hence the digest posts like the one this thread is about)... so that's why I assume it's someone who posts here.

Anyway, anyone who thinks they're "owed" anything for putting up with delays on software they haven't even paid for is an entitled moron. I don't even think that this is bad PR, it's just a delayed product. If I wanted to point at something that people should even bother thinking about, it would be doing what Square Enix has done with Deus Ex and balancing the game's economy and skill system around the existence of items (AUDs) only available as preorder DLC and presumably soon as paid DLC.

Someone wrote something bad about the new Fallouts on the internetz, it must be a secret NMA hate attack!

You must not get around much. Plenty of websites out there where people don't like nickel and dime DLC and read Sawyer's formspring. RPGCodex is the first that jumps to mind, though the question doesn't contain enough allusions to Sawyer's sexuality to be from them.

Also, drop the sniping at NMA.

With the stuff we get blamed for you'd think we have the resources of MI-6.

Cool. It's relatively cheap and highly effective PR.

Oh. I was kinda surprised that Bethesda didn't want to create such an addon. I also thought that maybe they had decided to charge the DLC (they're the publishers, after all)? Although that's a doubt.

Bethesda claims to have learned from Oblivion and didn't want to make any "junk" DLCs like this, they only wanted mini campaign expansions like Knights of the Nine and the subsequent Fallout 3 and New Vegas DLCs.

'Smitty's Special'.
I smell Turbo Plasma Rifle there.
Oh, the glorious days when you modded your shiny P94 to fire two aimed shots per round even without Action Boy...
Devastating.

The turbo plasma rifle was pretty nutty, but it at least it was a late game weapon that required you to transition from small guns to energy weapons.

Me being an Agility freak, I defeated Lou in one turn because, simply said, I could do 5 shots at once. Fantastic. :)

EDIT: 'at once' as in 'in one turn' :)
